Livre des Nombres 30

JERUSALEM	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Moïse parla aux Israélites conformément à tout ce que Yahvé lui avait ordonné.	1 Moses told the Israelites exactly what Yahweh had ordered him.
2 Moïse parla aux chefs de tribu des Israélites. Il dit: "Voici ce que Yahvé a ordonné.	2 Moses spoke to the tribal leaders of the Israelites and said, 'This is what Yahweh has ordered:
3 Si un homme fait un voeu à Yahvé ou prend par serment un engagement formel, il ne violera passa parole: tout ce qui est sorti de sa bouche, il l'exécutera.	3 "If a man makes a vow to Yahweh or a formal pledge under oath, he must not break his word:whatever he promises by word of mouth he must do.
4 Si une femme fait un voeu à Yahvé ou prend un engagement formel, alors que, jeune encore, ellehabite la maison de son père,	4 "If a woman makes a vow to Yahweh or a formal pledge during her youth, while she is stil in her father's house,
5 et si celui-ci, apprenant son voeu ou l'engagement qu'elle a pris, ne lui dit rien, son voeu, quelqu'il soit, sera valide, et l'engagement qu'elle a pris, quel qu'il soit, sera valide.	5 and if her father hears about this vow or pledge made by her and says nothing to her, her vow,whatever it may be, will be binding, and the pledge she has taken, whatever it may be, will be binding.
6 Mais si son père, le jour où il l'apprend, y fait opposition, aucun de ses voeux et aucun desengagements qu'elle a pris ne seront valides. Yahvé ne lui en tiendra pas rigueur, puisque c'est son père qui y afait opposition.	6 But if her father on the day he learns of it expresses his disapproval of it, then none of the vows orpledges she has taken wil be binding. Yahweh will not hold her to it, since her father has expressed hisdisapproval.
7 Si, étant tenue par des voeux ou par un engagement sorti inconsidérément de sa bouche, elle semarie,	7 "If, being bound by vows or by a pledge voiced without due reflection, she then marries,
8 et si son mari, l'apprenant, ne lui dit rien le jour où il en est informé, ses voeux seront valides etles engagements qu'elle a pris seront valides.	8 and if her husband hears of it but says nothing on the day he learns of it, her vows wil be binding andthe pledges she has taken will be binding.
9 Mais si, le jour où il l'apprend, son mari lui fait opposition, il annulera le voeu qui la tient oul'engagement qui l'oblige, sorti inconsidérément de sa bouche. Yahvé ne lui en tiendra pas rigueur.	9 But if on the day he learns of it he expresses his disapproval to her, this wil annul the vow that shehas made or the pledge that binds her, voiced without due reflection. Yahweh wil not hold her to it.
10 Le voeu d'une femme veuve ou répudiée, et tous les engagements qu'elle a pris, seront validespour elle.	10 "The vow of a widow or a divorced woman and al pledges taken by her are binding on her.
11 Si c'est dans la maison de son mari qu'elle a fait un voeu, ou pris un engagement par serment,	11 "If she has made a vow or taken a pledge under oath while in her husband's house,
12 et si, l'apprenant, son mari ne lui dit rien et ne lui fait pas opposition, son voeu, quel qu'il soit,sera valide et l'engagement qu'elle a pris, quel qu'il soit, sera valide.	12 and if when the husband learns of it he says nothing to her and does not express disapproval to her,then the vow, whatever it is, wil be binding, and the pledge, whatever it is, will be binding.
13 Mais si son mari, l'apprenant, les annule le jour où il en est informé, rien ne sera valide de ce quiest sorti de sa bouche, voeux ou engagements. Son mari les ayant annulés, Yahvé ne lui en tiendra pas rigueur.	13 But if the husband when he hears of it annuls it on the day he learns of it, no undertaking of hers, beit vow or pledge, will be binding. Since the husband has annul ed it, Yahweh wil not hold her to it.
14 Tout voeu et tout serment qui engage la femme, son mari peut les valider ou les annuler.	14 "Every vow or oath that is binding on the wife may be endorsed or annul ed by the husband.
15 Si au lendemain son mari ne lui a rien dit, c'est qu'il valide son voeu, quel qu'il soit, ou sonengagement, quel qu'il soit. Il les a validés s'il ne lui dit rien le jour où il en est informé.	15 "If by the fol owing day the husband has said nothing to her, it means that he endorses her vow,whatever it may be, or her pledge, whatever it may be. He endorses them if he says nothing on the day helearns of them.
16 Mais si, informé, il les annule plus tard, c'est lui qui portera le poids de la faute qui incomberaità sa femme."	16 But if, having learnt of them, he annuls them later, he wil bear the consequences for his wife's guilt."'
17 Telles sont les lois que Yahvé prescrivit à Moïse, en ce qui concerne la relation entre un hommeet sa femme, et entre un père et sa fille lorsque, jeune encore, elle habite la maison de son père.	17 Such were the laws which Yahweh prescribed to Moses, concerning the relationship between a manand his wife, and between a father and his daughter while stil young and living in her father's home.
