Deuxième livre des Chroniques 35

JERUSALEM	CATHOLIC PUBLIC DOMAIN
1 Josias célébra alors à Jérusalem une Pâque pour Yahvé et on immola la Pâque le quatorzièmejour du premier mois.	1 Now Josiah kept the Passover to the Lord in Jerusalem, and it was immolated on the fourteenth day of the first month.
2 Josias rétablit les prêtres dans leurs offices et les mit en mesure de vaquer au service duTemple de Yahvé.	2 And he appointed the priests in their offices, and he exhorted them to minister in the house of the Lord.
3 Puis il dit aux lévites, eux qui avaient l'intelligence pour tout Israël et qui étaient consacrés àYahvé: "Déposez l'arche sainte dans le Temple qu'a bâti Salomon, fils de David, roi d'Israël. Ce n'est plus unfardeau pour vos épaules. Servez maintenant Yahvé votre Dieu et Israël son peuple.	3 Also, he spoke with the Levites, by whose instruction all of Israel was sanctified to the Lord, saying: “Place the ark in the sanctuary of the temple, which Solomon, the son of David, the king of Israel, built. For never again shall you carry it. Instead, now you shall minister to the Lord your God, and to his people Israel.
4 Disposez-vous par familles selon vos classes, comme l'a fixé par écrit David, roi d'Israël, etlibellé son fils Salomon.	4 And prepare yourselves by your houses and families, within each division, just as David, the king of Israel, instructed, and just as his son Solomon has written.
5 Tenez-vous dans le sanctuaire, à la disposition des fractions des familles, à la disposition devos frères laïcs; les lévites auront une part dans la famille.	5 And minister in the sanctuary, by the Levitical families and companies.
6 Immolez la Pâque, sanctifiez-vous, et soyez à la disposition de vos frères en agissant selon laparole de Yahvé transmise par Moïse."	6 And having been sanctified, immolate the Passover. And then prepare your brothers, so that they may be able to act in accord with the words which the Lord has spoken by the hand of Moses.”
7 Josias préleva alors pour les laïcs du petit bétail, des agneaux et des chevreaux, au nombre de30.000, toutes victimes pascales pour tous ceux qui se trouvaient là, plus 3.000 boeufs. Ce bétail était pris sur lesbiens du roi.	7 After this, Josiah gave to all the people, those who had been found there at the solemnity of the Passover, thirty thousand lambs and young goats from the flocks, and other kinds of small cattle, and also three thousand oxen. All these were from the substance of the king.
8 Ses officiers firent aussi un prélèvement en offrande volontaire pour le peuple, pour lesprêtres et les lévites. Hilqiyyahu, Zekaryahu et Yehiel, chefs du Temple de Dieu, donnèrent aux prêtres, envictimes pascales, 2.600 têtes de petit bétail et 300 boeufs.	8 Also, his rulers offered what they had vowed freely, as much for the people as for the priests and Levites. Moreover, Hilkiah, and Zechariah, and Jehiel, rulers of the house of the Lord, gave to the priests, in order to observe the Passover, two thousand six hundred small cattle, and three hundred oxen.
9 Les officiers des lévites Konanyahu, Shemayahu et Netanéel son frère, Hashabyahu, Yeïel etYozabad prélevèrent pour les lévites, comme victimes pascales, 5.000 têtes de petit bétail et 500 boeufs.	9 And Conaniah, with Shemaiah and Nethanel, his brothers, indeed also Hashabiah and Jeiel and Jozabad, rulers of the Levites, gave to the rest of the Levites, in order to celebrate the Passover, five thousand small cattle, and five hundred oxen.
10 L'ordre de la liturgie fut fixé, les prêtres à leur place et les lévites selon leurs classes,conformément aux prescriptions royales.	10 And the ministry was prepared. And the priests stood in their office, and the Levites also stood in their companies, according to the order of the king.
11 Ils immolèrent la Pâque; les prêtres répandirent le sang qu'ils recevaient des mains deslévites, et les lévites dépecèrent les victimes.	11 And the Passover was immolated. And the priests sprinkled the blood with their hand, and the Levites drew away the pelts of the holocausts.
12 Ils mirent à part l'holocauste pour le donner aux fractions des familles du peuple quidevaient faire une offrande à Yahvé, comme il est écrit dans le livre de Moïse; il en fut de même pour le grosbétail.	12 And they put these aside, so that they might give them to each one, by their houses and families, and so that they might be offered to the Lord, just as it was written in the book of Moses. And with the oxen, they acted similarly.
13 Ils cuirent au feu la Pâque selon la règle, et cuirent les mets sacrés dans des terrines, desmarmites et des plats creux qu'ils portèrent en hâte à tout le peuple.	13 And they roasted the Passover above fire, in accord with what was written in the law. Yet truly, the victims of peace offerings they boiled in cauldrons and kettles and pots. And they promptly distributed these to all the common people.
14 Après quoi ils préparèrent la Pâque pour eux-mêmes et pour les prêtres -- les prêtres, filsd'Aaron, ayant été occupés jusqu'à la nuit à offrir l'holocauste et les graisses; c'est pourquoi les lévitespréparèrent la Pâque pour eux-mêmes et pour les prêtres, fils d'Aaron.	14 Then afterward, they made preparations for themselves and for the priests. Indeed, the priests had been occupied in the oblations of the holocausts and the fat offerings, even until night. Therefore, the Levites made preparations for themselves and for the priests, the sons of Aaron, last.
15 Les chantres, fils d'Asaph, étaient à leur poste, selon les prescriptions de David; ni Asaph,ni Hémân, ni Yedutûn le voyant du roi, ni les portiers à chaque porte, n'eurent à quitter leur service, car leursfrères lévites leur préparèrent tout.	15 Now the singers, the sons of Asaph, were standing in their order, according to the instruction of David, and of Asaph and Heman and Jeduthun, the prophets of the king. Truly, the porters kept watch at each gate, so as not to depart from their ministry even for one moment. And for this reason, their brothers, the Levites, prepared foods for them.
16 C'est ainsi que toute la liturgie de Yahvé fut, ce jour-là, organisée de manière à célébrer laPâque et à offrir des holocaustes sur l'autel de Yahvé selon les prescriptions du roi Josias.	16 And so, the entire worship ritual of the Lord was completed on that day, so that they observed the Passover and offered holocausts upon the altar of the Lord, in accord with the precept of king Josiah.
17 C'est à ce moment que les Israélites présents célébrèrent la Pâque et pendant sept jours lafête des Azymes.	17 And the sons of Israel, who had been found there, kept the Passover at that time, with the solemnity of unleavened bread, for seven days.
18 On n'avait pas célébré une Pâque comme celle-là en Israël depuis l'époque de Samuel leprophète; aucun roi d'Israël n'avait célébré une Pâque semblable à celle que célébra Josias avec les prêtres, leslévites, tous les Judéens et Israélites présents, et les habitants de Jérusalem.	18 There was no Passover similar to this one in Israel, from the days of Samuel the prophet. And neither did anyone, out of all the kings of Israel, keep such a Passover as did Josiah, the priests and Levites, and all those of Judah and Israel who had been found, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
19 C'est la dix-huitième année du règne de Josias que cette Pâque fut célébrée.	19 In the eighteenth year of the reign of Josiah, this Passover was celebrated.
20 Après tout ce que fit Josias pour remettre en ordre le Temple, Neko, roi d'Egypte, montacombattre à Karkémish sur l'Euphrate. Josias s'étant porté à sa rencontre,	20 After Josiah had repaired the temple, Neco, the king of Egypt, ascended to fight at Carchemish, beside the Euphrates. And Josiah went out to meet him.
21 il lui envoya des messagers pour lui dire: "Qu'ai-je à faire avec toi, roi de Juda? Ce n'est pastoi que je viens attaquer aujourd'hui, mais c'est une autre maison que j'ai à combattre, et Dieu m'a dit de mehâter. Laisse donc faire Dieu qui est avec moi, de peur qu'il ne cause ta perte."	21 But he sent messengers to him, saying: “What is there between me and you, O king of Judah? I have not come against you today. Instead, I am fighting against another house, to which God instructed me to go promptly. Refrain from acting against God, who is with me, otherwise he may kill you.”
22 Mais Josias ne renonça pas à l'affronter, car il était fermement décidé à le combattre etn'écouta pas ce que lui disait Neko au nom de Dieu. Il livra bataille dans la trouée de Megiddo;	22 Josiah was not willing to return. Instead, he prepared for war against him. Neither would he agree to the words of Neco from the mouth of God. In truth, he traveled so that he might do battle in the field of Megiddo.
23 les archers tirèrent sur le roi Josias et le roi dit à ses serviteurs: "Emportez-moi, car je mesens très mal."	23 And there, having been wounded by archers, he said to his servants: “Lead me away from the battle. For I have been severely wounded.”
24 Ses serviteurs le tirèrent hors de son char, le firent monter sur un autre de ses chars et leramenèrent à Jérusalem où il mourut. On l'enterra dans les sépultures de ses pères. Tout Juda et Jérusalem firentun deuil pour Josias;	24 And they took him from the chariot, into another chariot which was following him, as was the custom of kings. And they transported him to Jerusalem. And he died, and he was buried in the mausoleum of his fathers. And all of Judah and Jerusalem mourned for him,
25 Jérémie composa une lamentation sur Josias, que tous les chanteurs et chanteuses récitentencore aujourd'hui dans leurs lamentations sur Josias; on en fait une règle en Israël, et on trouve ces chantsconsignés dans les Lamentations.	25 most of all Jeremiah. All the singing men and women repeat his lamentations over Josiah, even to the present day. And this has become like a law in Israel. Behold, it is found written in the Lamentations.
26 Le reste de l'histoire de Josias, les témoignages de sa piété, conformes à tout ce qui est écritdans la loi de Yahvé,	26 Now the rest of the words of Josiah, and his mercies, which were instructed by the law of the Lord,
27 son histoire, du début à la fin, tout cela est écrit dans le livre des Rois d'Israël et de Juda.	27 and also his works, the first and the last, have been written in the book of the kings of Judah and Israel.
