Deuxième livre des Chroniques 35

JERUSALEM	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Josias célébra alors à Jérusalem une Pâque pour Yahvé et on immola la Pâque le quatorzièmejour du premier mois.	1 Josiah then celebrated a Passover to Yahweh in Jerusalem. The Passover victims were slaughteredon the fourteenth day of the first month.
2 Josias rétablit les prêtres dans leurs offices et les mit en mesure de vaquer au service duTemple de Yahvé.	2 He assigned the priests to their posts, encouraging them to do their duty in the Temple of Yahweh.
3 Puis il dit aux lévites, eux qui avaient l'intelligence pour tout Israël et qui étaient consacrés àYahvé: "Déposez l'arche sainte dans le Temple qu'a bâti Salomon, fils de David, roi d'Israël. Ce n'est plus unfardeau pour vos épaules. Servez maintenant Yahvé votre Dieu et Israël son peuple.	3 Then he said to the Levites, who had understanding for al Israel and were consecrated to Yahweh,'Put the sacred ark in the Temple built by Solomon son of David, king of Israel. You need not carry it about on your shoulders any more. Now serve Yahweh your God and Israel his people!
4 Disposez-vous par familles selon vos classes, comme l'a fixé par écrit David, roi d'Israël, etlibellé son fils Salomon.	4 Prepare yourselves by families according to your orders, as laid down in the decree of David king ofIsrael and that of Solomon his son,
5 Tenez-vous dans le sanctuaire, à la disposition des fractions des familles, à la disposition devos frères laïcs; les lévites auront une part dans la famille.	5 and take up positions in the sanctuary corresponding to the family divisions of your brothers the laity,so that there are Levites for each family division.
6 Immolez la Pâque, sanctifiez-vous, et soyez à la disposition de vos frères en agissant selon laparole de Yahvé transmise par Moïse."	6 Slaughter the Passover, sanctify yourselves and prepare it so that your brothers can observe it in theway the word of Yahweh through Moses requires.'
7 Josias préleva alors pour les laïcs du petit bétail, des agneaux et des chevreaux, au nombre de30.000, toutes victimes pascales pour tous ceux qui se trouvaient là, plus 3.000 boeufs. Ce bétail était pris sur lesbiens du roi.	7 For the laity Josiah provided small livestock, that is, lambs and young goats -- everything for thePassover offerings for al who attended -- to the number of thirty thousand, as well as three thousand bul ocks;these were from the king's own possessions.
8 Ses officiers firent aussi un prélèvement en offrande volontaire pour le peuple, pour lesprêtres et les lévites. Hilqiyyahu, Zekaryahu et Yehiel, chefs du Temple de Dieu, donnèrent aux prêtres, envictimes pascales, 2.600 têtes de petit bétail et 300 boeufs.	8 His officials also made voluntary contributions for the people, the priests and the Levites; and Hilkiah,Zechariah and Jehiel, the chiefs of the Temple of God, gave two thousand six hundred lambs and three hundredbullocks to the priests for the Passover offerings;
9 Les officiers des lévites Konanyahu, Shemayahu et Netanéel son frère, Hashabyahu, Yeïel etYozabad prélevèrent pour les lévites, comme victimes pascales, 5.000 têtes de petit bétail et 500 boeufs.	9 while Conaniah, Shemaiah, Nethanel his brother, Hashabiah, Jeiel and Jozabad, the head Levites,provided five thousand lambs and five hundred bul ocks as Passover offerings for the Levites.
10 L'ordre de la liturgie fut fixé, les prêtres à leur place et les lévites selon leurs classes,conformément aux prescriptions royales.	10 So the service was arranged, the priests stood in their places and the Levites in their orders as theking had commanded.
11 Ils immolèrent la Pâque; les prêtres répandirent le sang qu'ils recevaient des mains deslévites, et les lévites dépecèrent les victimes.	11 Then they slaughtered the Passover victims and while the priests sprinkled the blood as theyreceived it from the Levites, the latter did the skinning.
12 Ils mirent à part l'holocauste pour le donner aux fractions des familles du peuple quidevaient faire une offrande à Yahvé, comme il est écrit dans le livre de Moïse; il en fut de même pour le grosbétail.	12 Next they put the burnt offering aside for presentation to the family divisions of the laity, so that theycould offer it to Yahweh in the way prescribed in the Book of Moses; they did the same with the bul ocks.
13 Ils cuirent au feu la Pâque selon la règle, et cuirent les mets sacrés dans des terrines, desmarmites et des plats creux qu'ils portèrent en hâte à tout le peuple.	13 They roasted the Passover victim over an open fire in accordance with the regulation and boiled theconsecrated offerings in pots, kettles and pans, which they then distributed to al the laity as quickly as theycould.
14 Après quoi ils préparèrent la Pâque pour eux-mêmes et pour les prêtres -- les prêtres, filsd'Aaron, ayant été occupés jusqu'à la nuit à offrir l'holocauste et les graisses; c'est pourquoi les lévitespréparèrent la Pâque pour eux-mêmes et pour les prêtres, fils d'Aaron.	14 Afterwards they provided for themselves and the priests, since the Aaronite priests were kept busy tilnightfall making the burnt offerings and offering the fat; that was why the Levites prepared the Passover forthemselves and for the Aaronite priests.
15 Les chantres, fils d'Asaph, étaient à leur poste, selon les prescriptions de David; ni Asaph,ni Hémân, ni Yedutûn le voyant du roi, ni les portiers à chaque porte, n'eurent à quitter leur service, car leursfrères lévites leur préparèrent tout.	15 The Asaphite singers were at their places, in accordance with the command of David and Asaph,Heman and Jeduthun the king's seer; so were the gatekeepers at each gate. Because they could not leave theirduties, their brothers the Levites prepared the Passover for them.
16 C'est ainsi que toute la liturgie de Yahvé fut, ce jour-là, organisée de manière à célébrer laPâque et à offrir des holocaustes sur l'autel de Yahvé selon les prescriptions du roi Josias.	16 So the whole service of Yahweh was arranged that day to celebrate the Passover and to bring burntofferings on the altar of Yahweh, in accordance with King Josiah's command.
17 C'est à ce moment que les Israélites présents célébrèrent la Pâque et pendant sept jours lafête des Azymes.	17 On that occasion the Israelites who were present celebrated the Passover and the feast ofUnleavened Bread for seven days.
18 On n'avait pas célébré une Pâque comme celle-là en Israël depuis l'époque de Samuel leprophète; aucun roi d'Israël n'avait célébré une Pâque semblable à celle que célébra Josias avec les prêtres, leslévites, tous les Judéens et Israélites présents, et les habitants de Jérusalem.	18 No Passover like this one had ever been celebrated in Israel since the days of the prophet Samuel,nor had any of the kings of Israel ever celebrated a Passover like the one celebrated by Josiah, the priests, theLevites, al Judah and Israel who were present, and the inhabitants of Jerusalem.
19 C'est la dix-huitième année du règne de Josias que cette Pâque fut célébrée.	19 This Passover was celebrated in the eighteenth year of Josiah's reign.
20 Après tout ce que fit Josias pour remettre en ordre le Temple, Neko, roi d'Egypte, montacombattre à Karkémish sur l'Euphrate. Josias s'étant porté à sa rencontre,	20 After all this, when Josiah had provided for the Temple, Necho king of Egypt advanced to give battleat Carchemish on the Euphrates and Josiah went to intercept him.
21 il lui envoya des messagers pour lui dire: "Qu'ai-je à faire avec toi, roi de Juda? Ce n'est pastoi que je viens attaquer aujourd'hui, mais c'est une autre maison que j'ai à combattre, et Dieu m'a dit de mehâter. Laisse donc faire Dieu qui est avec moi, de peur qu'il ne cause ta perte."	21 Necho however sent him messengers to say, 'Why be concerned about me, king of Judah? I havenot come today to attack you; my quarrel is with another dynasty. God has commanded me to move quickly, sokeep wel clear of the god who is with me!'
22 Mais Josias ne renonça pas à l'affronter, car il était fermement décidé à le combattre etn'écouta pas ce que lui disait Neko au nom de Dieu. Il livra bataille dans la trouée de Megiddo;	22 But Josiah was not to be deflected from his determination to fight him, and would not listen toNecho's words, which came from the mouth of God. He gave battle in the plain of Megiddo.
23 les archers tirèrent sur le roi Josias et le roi dit à ses serviteurs: "Emportez-moi, car je mesens très mal."	23 The archers shot King Josiah. The king then said to his retainers, 'Take me away; I am badlywounded.'
24 Ses serviteurs le tirèrent hors de son char, le firent monter sur un autre de ses chars et leramenèrent à Jérusalem où il mourut. On l'enterra dans les sépultures de ses pères. Tout Juda et Jérusalem firentun deuil pour Josias;	24 So his retainers lifted him out of his own chariot, transferred him to one which he had in reserve andbrought him to Jerusalem, where he died and was buried in the tombs of his ancestors. Al Judah and Jerusalemheld mourning for Josiah.
25 Jérémie composa une lamentation sur Josias, que tous les chanteurs et chanteuses récitentencore aujourd'hui dans leurs lamentations sur Josias; on en fait une règle en Israël, et on trouve ces chantsconsignés dans les Lamentations.	25 Jeremiah composed a lament for Josiah and all the male and female singers to this day lamentJosiah in their dirges; they have made it a rule in Israel; they are recorded in the Lamentations.
26 Le reste de l'histoire de Josias, les témoignages de sa piété, conformes à tout ce qui est écritdans la loi de Yahvé,	26 The rest of the history of Josiah, his deeds of faithful love conforming to what is prescribed in theLaw of Yahweh,
27 son histoire, du début à la fin, tout cela est écrit dans le livre des Rois d'Israël et de Juda.	27 his history from first to last, are recorded in the Book of the Kings of Israel and Judah.
