Psalms 85

1 Unto the end, for the sons of Core, a psalm.	1 For the leader. A psalm of the Korahites.
2 Lord, thou hast blessed thy land: thou hast turned away the captivity of Jacob.	2 You once favored, LORD, your land, restored the good fortune of Jacob.
3 Thou hast forgiven the iniquity of thy people: thou hast covered all their sins.	3 You forgave the guilt of your people, pardoned all their sins. Selah
4 Thou hast mitigated all thy anger: thou best turned away from the wrath of thy indignation.	4 You withdrew all your wrath, turned back your burning anger.
5 Convert us, O God our saviour: and turn off thy anger from us.	5 Restore us once more, God our savior; abandon your wrath against us.
6 Wilt thou be angry with us for ever: or wilt thou extend thy wrath from generation to generation?	6 Will you be angry with us forever, drag out your anger for all generations?
7 Thou wilt turn, O God, and bring us to life: and thy people shall rejoice in thee.	7 Please give us life again, that your people may rejoice in you.
8 Shew us, O Lord, thy mercy; and grant us thy salvation.	8 Show us, LORD, your love; grant us your salvation.
9 I will hear what the Lord God will speak in me: for he will speak peace unto his people: And unto his saints: and unto them that are converted to the heart.	9 I will listen for the word of God; surely the LORD will proclaim peace To his people, to the faithful, to those who trust in him.
10 Surely his salvation is near to them that fear him: that glory may dwell in our land.	10 Near indeed is salvation for the loyal; prosperity will fill our land.
11 Mercy and truth have met each other: justice and peace have kissed.	11 Love and truth will meet; justice and peace will kiss.
12 Truth is sprung out of the earth: and justice hath looked down from heaven.	12 Truth will spring from the earth; justice will look down from heaven.
13 For the Lord will give goodness: and our earth shall yield her fruit.	13 The LORD will surely grant abundance; our land will yield its increase.
14 Justice shall walk before him: and shall set his steps in the way.	14 Prosperity will march before the Lord, and good fortune will follow behind.
