| 1 Le royaume des Cieux est semblable à un père de famille, qui sortit de grand matin afin de louer des ouvriers pour sa vigne. | 1 For the kingdom of heaven is like unto a man that is an householder, which went out early in the morning to hire labourers into his vineyard. |
| 2 Et étant convenu avec les ouvriers d'un denier par jour, il les envoya à sa vigne. | 2 And when he had agreed with the labourers for a penny a day, he sent them into his vineyard. |
| 3 En sortant vers la troisième heure, il en vit d'autres qui se tenaient oisifs sur la place publique. | 3 And he went out about the third hour, and saw others standing idle in the marketplace, |
| 4 Et il leur dit : Allez, vous aussi, à ma vigne, et je vous donnerai ce qui sera juste. | 4 And said unto them; Go ye also into the vineyard, and whatsoever is right I will give you. And they went their way. |
| 5 Et ils y allèrent. Il sortit encore vers la sixième et vers la neuvième heure, et il fit de même. | 5 Again he went out about the sixth and ninth hour, and did likewise. |
| 6 Et étant sorti vers la onzième heure, il en trouva d'autres qui se tenaient là, et il leur dit : Pourquoi vous tenez-vous ici tout le jour sans rien faire ? | 6 And about the eleventh hour he went out, and found others standing idle, and saith unto them, Why stand ye here all the day idle? |
| 7 Ils lui dirent : Parce que personne ne nous a loués. Il leur dit : Allez, vous aussi, à ma vigne. | 7 They say unto him, Because no man hath hired us. He saith unto them, Go ye also into the vineyard; and whatsoever is right, that shall ye receive. |
| 8 Lorsque le soir fut venu, le maître de la vigne dit à son intendant : Appelle les ouvriers, et paye-leur le salaire, en commençant par les derniers, et en finissant par les premiers. | 8 So when even was come, the lord of the vineyard saith unto his steward, Call the labourers, and give them their hire, beginning from the last unto the first. |
| 9 Ceux qui étaient venus vers la onzième heure vinrent donc, et reçurent chacun un denier. | 9 And when they came that were hired about the eleventh hour, they received every man a penny. |
| 10 Les premiers, venant ensuite, crurent qu'ils recevraient davantage ; mais ils reçurent, eux aussi, chacun un denier. | 10 But when the first came, they supposed that they should have received more; and they likewise received every man a penny. |
| 11 Et en le recevant, ils murmuraient contre le père de famille, | 11 And when they had received it, they murmured against the goodman of the house, |
| 12 disant : Ces derniers n'ont travaillé qu'une heure, et vous les avez traités comme nous, qui avons porté le poids du jour et de la chaleur. | 12 Saying, These last have wrought but one hour, and thou hast made them equal unto us, which have borne the burden and heat of the day. |
| 13 Mais il répondit à l'un d'eux : Mon ami, je ne te fais point de tort ; n'es-tu pas convenu avec moi d'un denier ? | 13 But he answered one of them, and said, Friend, I do thee no wrong: didst not thou agree with me for a penny? |
| 14 Prends ce qui t'appartient, et va-t-en ; je veux donner à ce dernier autant qu'à toi. | 14 Take that thine is, and go thy way: I will give unto this last, even as unto thee. |
| 15 Ne m'est-il pas permis de faire ce que je veux ? ou tonœil est-il méchant parce que je suis bon ? | 15 Is it not lawful for me to do what I will with mine own? Is thine eye evil, because I am good? |
| 16 Ainsi les derniers seront les premiers, et les premiers seront les derniers ; car il y en a beaucoup d'appelés, mais peu d'élus. | 16 So the last shall be first, and the first last: for many be called, but few chosen. |
| 17 Or Jésus, montant à Jérusalem, prit à part les douze disciples, et leur dit : | 17 And Jesus going up to Jerusalem took the twelve disciples apart in the way, and said unto them, |
| 18 Voici que nous montons à Jérusalem, et le Fils de l'homme sera livré aux princes des prêtres et aux scribes, et ils Le condamneront à mort ; | 18 Behold, we go up to Jerusalem; and the Son of man shall be betrayed unto the chief priests and unto the scribes, and they shall condemn him to death, |
| 19 et ils Le livreront aux gentils, pour qu'ils se moquent de Lui, Le flagellent et Le crucifient ; et Il ressuscitera le troisième jour. | 19 And shall deliver him to the Gentiles to mock, and to scourge, and to crucify him: and the third day he shall rise again. |
| 20 Alors la mère des fils de Zébédée s'approcha de Lui avec ses deux fils, et se prosterna en Lui demandant quelque chose. | 20 Then came to him the mother of Zebedee's children with her sons, worshipping him, and desiring a certain thing of him. |
| 21 Il lui dit : Que veux-tu ? Ordonnez, Lui dit-elle, que mes deux fils, que voici, soient assis l'un à Votre droite, et l'autre à Votre gauche, dans Votre royaume. | 21 And he said unto her, What wilt thou? She saith unto him, Grant that these my two sons may sit, the one on thy right hand, and the other on the left, in thy kingdom. |
| 22 Mais Jésus répondit : Vous ne savez pas ce que vous demandez. Pouvez-vous boire le calice que Je dois boire ? Ils Lui dirent : Nous le pouvons. | 22 But Jesus answered and said, Ye know not what ye ask. Are ye able to drink of the cup that I shall drink of, and to be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with? They say unto him, We are able. |
| 23 Il leur dit : Oui, vous boirez Mon calice ; quant à être assis à Ma droite ou à Ma gauche, il ne M'appartient pas de vous le donner ; ce sera pour ceux auxquels Mon Père l'a préparé. | 23 And he saith unto them, Ye shall drink indeed of my cup, and be baptized with the baptism that I am baptized with: but to sit on my right hand, and on my left, is not mine to give, but it shall be given to them for whom it is prepared of my Father. |
| 24 Les dix, ayant entendu cela, s'indignèrent contre les deux frères. | 24 And when the ten heard it, they were moved with indignation against the two brethren. |
| 25 Mais Jésus les appela à Lui, et leur dit : Vous savez que les princes des nations les dominent ; et que les grands exercent la puissance sur elles. | 25 But Jesus called them unto him, and said, Ye know that the princes of the Gentiles exercise dominion over them, and they that are great exercise authority upon them. |
| 26 Il n'en sera pas ainsi parmi vous ; mais que celui qui voudra devenir le plus grand parmi vous soit votre serviteur, | 26 But it shall not be so among you: but whosoever will be great among you, let him be your minister; |
| 27 et que celui qui voudra être le premier parmi vous soit votre esclave ; | 27 And whosoever will be chief among you, let him be your servant: |
| 28 de même que le Fils de l'homme n'est pas venu pour être servi, mais pour servir, et pour donner Sa vie comme la rançon d'un grand nombre. | 28 Even as the Son of man came not to be ministered unto, but to minister, and to give his life a ransom for many. |
| 29 Lorsqu'ils sortaient de Jéricho, une grande foule Le suivit. | 29 And as they departed from Jericho, a great multitude followed him. |
| 30 Et voici que deux aveugles, assis au bord du chemin, apprirent que Jésus passait ; et ils crièrent, en disant : Seigneur, Fils de David, ayez pitié de nous. | 30 And, behold, two blind men sitting by the way side, when they heard that Jesus passed by, cried out, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David. |
| 31 Et la foule les reprenait, pour les faire taire ; mais ils criaient plus fort, en disant : Seigneur, Fils de David, ayez pitié de nous. | 31 And the multitude rebuked them, because they should hold their peace: but they cried the more, saying, Have mercy on us, O Lord, thou Son of David. |
| 32 Jésus S'arrêta, et Il les appela, et leur dit : Que voulez-vous que Je vous fasse ? | 32 And Jesus stood still, and called them, and said, What will ye that I shall do unto you? |
| 33 Ils Lui dirent : Seigneur, que nos yeux soient ouverts. | 33 They say unto him, Lord, that our eyes may be opened. |
| 34 Ayant pitié d'eux, Jésus toucha leurs yeux ; et aussitôt ils recouvrirent la vue, et Le suivirent. | 34 So Jesus had compassion on them, and touched their eyes: and immediately their eyes received sight, and they followed him. |
