| 2 Le Seigneur est ma force et le sujet de mes louanges, c'est lui qui m'a sauvé : Il est mon Dieu, et je publierai sa gloire ; il est le Dieu de mon père, et je l'exalterai. | 2 The Lord is my strength and my praise, and he has become my salvation. | 3 Le Seigneur a paru comme un guerrier ; le Tout-Puissant, voilà son nom. | 3 The Lord is like a fighting man. Almighty is his name. |
| 4 Il a fait tomber dans la mer les chars du (de) Pharaon et son armée. Les plus grands d'entre les princes (ses princes d'élite) ont été submergés dans la mer Rouge. | 4 The chariots of Pharaoh, and his army, he has cast into the sea; his elect leaders have been submerged in the Red Sea. |
| 5 Ils ont été ensevelis dans les abîmes, ils sont tombés comme une pierre au fond des eaux (du gouffre). | 5 The abyss has covered them. They descended into the depths like a stone. |
| 6 Votre droite, Seigneur, a signalé sa force ; votre droite, Seigneur, a frappé l'ennemi. | 6 Your right hand, O Lord, has been magnified in strength. Your right hand, O Lord, has struck down the enemy. |
| 7 Et vous avez renversé vos adversaires par la grandeur de votre gloire. Vous avez lancé votre colère, qui les a dévorés comme du chaume (la paille). | 7 And in the multitude of your glory you have put down your adversaries. You sent out your wrath, which devoured them like stubble. |
| 8 Et au souffle de votre fureur les eaux se sont amoncelées, l'onde mobile s'est dressée, les flots se sont accumulés au milieu de la mer. | 8 And by the breath of your fury, the waters were gathered together. The flowing waves stood still. The abyss was gathered into the midst of the sea. |
| 9 L'ennemi avait dit : Je les poursuivrai et je les atteindrai ; je partagerai leurs dépouilles, et je me satisferai pleinement ; je tirerai mon épée, et ma main les fera mourir. | 9 The enemy said: ‘I will pursue and overtake them. I will divide the spoils. My soul will be filled. I will unsheathe my sword. My hand will put them to death.’ |
| 10 Votre haleine (vent) a soufflé, et la mer les a enveloppés ; ils ont été submergés sous la violence des eaux comme du plomb. | 10 Your breath blew, and the sea covered them. They were submerged like lead into the mighty waters. |
| 11 Qui d'entre les forts est semblable à vous, Seigneur ? Qui vous est semblable, à vous qui êtes magnifique en sainteté, terrible et digne de louange, et opérant des prodiges ? | 11 Who is like you in strength, O Lord? Who is like you: magnificent in sanctity, terrible and yet praiseworthy, accomplishing miracles? |
| 12 Vous avez étendu votre main, et la terre les a dévorés. | 12 You extended your hand, and the earth devoured them. |
| 13 Vous vous êtes fait, par votre miséricorde, le guide du peuple que vous avez racheté, et vous l'avez porté par votre puissance (force) jusqu'à votre demeure sainte. | 13 In your mercy, you have been a leader to the people whom you have redeemed. And in your strength, you have carried them to your holy dwelling place. |
| 14 Les peuples se sont élevés et ils se sont irrités ; ceux qui habitaient la Palestine ont été saisis de vives douleurs. | 14 Peoples rose up and became angry. Sorrows took hold of the inhabitants of Philistia. |
| 15 Alors les princes d'Edom (de l'Idumée) ont été troublés, l'épouvante a surpris les forts de Moab, et tous les habitants de Chanaan ont séché de crainte (été glacé d'effroi). | 15 Then the leaders of Edom were stirred up, and trembling took hold of the robust of Moab. All the inhabitants of Canaan were petrified. |
| 16 Que l'épouvante et l'effroi tombe sur eux, Seigneur, à cause de la puissance (l'étendue) de votre bras ; qu'ils deviennent immobiles comme une pierre jusqu'à ce que votre peuple ait passé, jusqu'à ce qu'ait passé ce peuple que vous vous êtes acquis. | 16 Let fear and dread fall upon them, by the magnitude of your arm. Let them become immobilized like stone, until your people cross through, O Lord, until this, your people whom you possess, cross through. |
| 17 Vous les introduirez et vous les établirez, Seigneur, sur la montagne de votre héritage, sur cette demeure très ferme (inébranlable) que vous vous êtes préparée vous-même, Seigneur, dans votre sanctuaire affermi par vos mains. | 17 You shall lead them in and plant them, on the mountain of your inheritance, in your most firm dwelling place, which you have formed, O Lord, your sanctuary, O Lord, which your hands have made firm. |
| 18 Le Seigneur règnera dans l'éternité et au-delà (des siècles). | 18 The Lord will reign in eternity and beyond. |
| 19 Car (le) Pharaon est entré à cheval dans la mer avec ses chars et ses cavaliers, et le Seigneur a ramené sur eux les eaux de la mer ; mais les enfants d'Israël ont passé à sec au milieu des eaux. | 19 For the rider Pharaoh, with his chariots and horsemen, was brought into the sea. And the Lord brought back upon them the waters of the sea. But the sons of Israel walked across dry ground in its midst.” |

| 22 Or Moïse fit partir les Israélites de la mer Rouge, et ils entrèrent au désert de Sur ; et ayant marché trois jours dans le désert, ils ne trouvaient point d'eau. | 22 Then Moses took Israel from the Red Sea, and they went forth into the desert of Shur. And they wandered for three days through the wilderness, and they found no water. |
| 23 Ils arrivèrent à Mara, et ils ne pouvaient boire des eaux de Mara, parce qu'elles étaient amères. C'est pourquoi on donna à ce lieu un nom qui lui était propre, en l'appelant Mara, c'est-à-dire amertume. | 23 And they arrived at Marah. They were unable to drink the waters of Marah because they were bitter. Therefore, he also established a name befitting the place, calling it ‘Marah,’ that is, bitterness. |

| 25 Mais Moïse cria au Seigneur, lequel lui montra un bois qu'il jeta dans les eaux, et les eaux devinrent douces. Dieu leur donna en ce lieu des préceptes et des ordonnances, et il y éprouva son peuple, | 25 So he cried out to the Lord, who showed him a tree. And when he had cast it into the waters, they were turned into sweetness. In that place, he established instructions for him, and also judgments. And he tested him there, |
| 26 en disant : Si tu écoutes la voix du Seigneur ton Dieu et que tu fasses ce qui est juste devant ses yeux, si tu obéis à ses commandements et si tu gardes tous ses préceptes, je ne te frapperai point de toutes les maladies dont j'ai frappé l'Egypte, parce que je suis le Seigneur qui te guéris. | 26 saying: “If you will listen to the voice of the Lord your God, and do what is right in his sight, and obey his commands, and keep all his precepts, I will not bring upon you any of the distress that I imposed on Egypt. For I am the Lord, your healer.” |
| 27 Les enfants d'Israël vinrent à Elim où il y avait douze fontaines (sources d'eaux) et soixante-dix palmiers, et ils campèrent auprès des eaux. | 27 Then the sons of Israel arrived in Elim, where there were twelve fountains of water and seventy palm trees. And they camped next to the waters. |
