Giobbe 32

LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Allora quei tre personaggi cessarono di replicare a Giobbe, perché egli si riteneva giusto.	1 These three men stopped arguing with Job, because he was convinced of his uprightness.
2 Ma Eliu, figlio di Barachele il buzita, del clan di Ram, si mise in collera contro Giobbe. Il suo sdegno si accese, perché questi pretendeva di aver ragione contro Dio.	2 But Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite, of the clan of Ram, became very angry. He fumed with rageagainst Job for thinking that he was right and God was wrong;
3 Si mise in collera anche contro i suoi tre amici, perché non avendo dato risposta, avevano riconosciuto Dio colpevole.	3 and he was equal y angry with the three friends for giving up the argument and thus putting God in thewrong.
4 Ora Eliu aveva atteso, mentre essi parlavano con Giobbe, perché essi erano più anziani di lui;	4 While they and Job were talking, Elihu had waited, because they were older than he was;
5 però quando Eliu vide che non c'era più risposta sulla bocca di questi tre uomini, si mise in collera.	5 but when he saw that the three men had not another word to say in answer, his anger burst out.
6 Prese quindi la parola Eliu, figlio di Barachele il buzita, e disse: "Io sono ancor giovane e voi anziani; per questo ho esitato e temuto di esporvi la mia opinione.	6 And Elihu son of Barachel the Buzite began to speak. He said: I am stil young, and you are old, so Iwas shy and hesitant to tel you what I know.
7 Pensavo: "Parleranno gli anni, e l'età avanzata insegnerà la sapienza".	7 I thought, 'Age ought to speak, advancing years wil convey wisdom.'
8 Però nell'uomo c'è uno spirito, il soffio dell'Onnipotente, che rende intelligente.	8 There is, you see, a spirit residing in humanity, the breath of God conferring intelligence.
9 Non sono i molti anni a dare la sapienza, né per essere anziano uno sa giudicare.	9 Great age does not give wisdom, nor seniority fair judgement.
10 Perciò oso dire: "Ascoltatemi, esporrò anch'io la mia opinione".	10 And so I ask you for a hearing; now it is my turn to tel what I know.
11 Ecco, contavo sui vostri discorsi; ho prestato attenzione ai vostri argomenti, finché ricercavate delle risposte.	11 Up to now, I was hanging on your words, I paid attention to your arguments as each of you chose hiswords.
12 Per quanto ascoltassi con attenzione, nessuno di voi fu capace di criticare Giobbe, di rispondere alle sue parole.	12 I paid very close attention; and I see that none of you has confounded Job, not one of you has refutedwhat he says.
13 Non dite dunque: "Noi abbiamo trovato la sapienza, solo Dio la può confutare, non un uomo".	13 So do not say, 'We have found wisdom; our teaching is divine and not human.'
14 Giobbe non ha rivolto a me le sue parole, e non risponderò con i vostri ragionamenti.	14 I am not going to follow the same line of argument; my reply to Job wil be couched in different terms.
15 Essi, sconcertati, non rispondono più, mancano loro le parole.	15 They are nonplussed for an answer, words have failed them.
16 Debbo ancora attendere, dato che non parlano, poiché stanno lì senza rispondere?	16 I have been waiting. Since they do not speak, since they have given up the argument,
17 Replicherò anch'io per la mia parte, esporrò anch'io ciò che so.	17 now I shal have my say, my turn has come to say what I know.
18 Perché sono pieno di cose da dire; mi preme lo spirito che è dentro di me.	18 For I am ful of words and forced to speak by a spirit within me;
19 Ecco, dentro di me c'è come un vino che non ha sfogo, come degli otri nuovi che scoppiano.	19 within me, it feels like new wine seeking a vent, bursting out of new wine-skins.
20 Parlerò dunque e ne avrò sollievo, aprirò la bocca e risponderò.	20 To gain relief, I must speak, I must open my lips and reply.
21 Non guarderò in faccia a nessuno, non adulerò nessuno,	21 I shall not take anyone's side, I shall not flatter anyone.
22 perché non so adulare; altrimenti il mio Creatore in breve mi eliminerebbe.	22 I do not know how to flatter -- or my Creator would make short work of me.
