1 Then the three men ceased to answer Job, because he was righteous in his own eyes.	1 Allora quei tre personaggi cessarono di replicare a Giobbe, perché egli si riteneva giusto.
2 But the anger of Elihu, son of Barachel the Buzite, of the family of Ram, was kindled. He was angry with Job for considering himself rather than God to be in the right.	2 Ma Eliu, figlio di Barachele il buzita, del clan di Ram, si mise in collera contro Giobbe. Il suo sdegno si accese, perché questi pretendeva di aver ragione contro Dio.
3 He was angry also with the three friends because they had not found a good answer and had not condemned Job.	3 Si mise in collera anche contro i suoi tre amici, perché non avendo dato risposta, avevano riconosciuto Dio colpevole.
4 But since these men were older than he, Elihu bided his time before addressing Job.	4 Ora Eliu aveva atteso, mentre essi parlavano con Giobbe, perché essi erano più anziani di lui;
5 When, however, Elihu saw that there was no reply in the mouths of the three men, his wrath was inflamed.	5 però quando Eliu vide che non c'era più risposta sulla bocca di questi tre uomini, si mise in collera.
6 So Elihu, son of Barachel the Buzite, spoke out and said: I am young and you are very old; therefore I held back and was afraid to declare to you my knowledge.	6 Prese quindi la parola Eliu, figlio di Barachele il buzita, e disse: "Io sono ancor giovane e voi anziani; per questo ho esitato e temuto di esporvi la mia opinione.
7 Days should speak, I thought, and many years teach wisdom!	7 Pensavo: "Parleranno gli anni, e l'età avanzata insegnerà la sapienza".
8 But it is a spirit in man, the breath of the Almighty, that gives him understanding.	8 Però nell'uomo c'è uno spirito, il soffio dell'Onnipotente, che rende intelligente.
9 It is not those of many days who are wise, nor the aged who understand the right.	9 Non sono i molti anni a dare la sapienza, né per essere anziano uno sa giudicare.
10 Therefore I say, hearken to me; let me too set forth my knowledge!	10 Perciò oso dire: "Ascoltatemi, esporrò anch'io la mia opinione".
11 Behold, I have waited for your discourses, and have given ear to your arguments.	11 Ecco, contavo sui vostri discorsi; ho prestato attenzione ai vostri argomenti, finché ricercavate delle risposte.
12 Yes, I followed you attentively as you searched out what to say; And behold, there is none who has convicted Job, not one of you who could refute his statements.	12 Per quanto ascoltassi con attenzione, nessuno di voi fu capace di criticare Giobbe, di rispondere alle sue parole.
13 Yet do not say, "We have met wisdom. God may vanquish him but not man!"	13 Non dite dunque: "Noi abbiamo trovato la sapienza, solo Dio la può confutare, non un uomo".
14 For had he addressed his words to me, I should not then have answered him as you have done.	14 Giobbe non ha rivolto a me le sue parole, e non risponderò con i vostri ragionamenti.
15 They are dismayed, they make no more reply; words fail them.	15 Essi, sconcertati, non rispondono più, mancano loro le parole.
16 Must I wait? Now that they speak no more, and have ceased to make reply,	16 Debbo ancora attendere, dato che non parlano, poiché stanno lì senza rispondere?
17 I too will speak my part; I also will show my knowledge!	17 Replicherò anch'io per la mia parte, esporrò anch'io ciò che so.
18 For I am full of matters to utter; the spirit within me compels me.	18 Perché sono pieno di cose da dire; mi preme lo spirito che è dentro di me.
19 Like a new wineskin with wine under pressure, my bosom is ready to burst.	19 Ecco, dentro di me c'è come un vino che non ha sfogo, come degli otri nuovi che scoppiano.
20 Let me speak and obtain relief; let me open my lips, and make reply.	20 Parlerò dunque e ne avrò sollievo, aprirò la bocca e risponderò.
21 I would not be partial to anyone, nor give flattering titles to any.	21 Non guarderò in faccia a nessuno, non adulerò nessuno,
22 For I know nought of flattery; if I did, my Maker would soon take me away.	22 perché non so adulare; altrimenti il mio Creatore in breve mi eliminerebbe.
