1 E BILDAD Suhita rispose, e disse:	1 Bildad the Shuhite spoke out and said:
2 Infino a quando proferirai tali ragionamenti, E saranno le parole della tua bocca come un vento impetuoso?	2 How long will you utter such things? The words from your mouth are like a mighty wind!
3 Iddio pervertirebbe egli il giudicio? L’Onnipotente pervertirebbe egli la giustizia?	3 Does God pervert judgment, and does the Almighty distort justice?
4 Se i tuoi figliuoli hanno peccato contro a lui, Egli altresì li ha dati in mano del lor misfatto.	4 If your children have sinned against him and he has left them in the grip of their guilt,
5 Ma quant’è a te, se tu ricerchi Iddio, E chiedi grazia all’Onnipotente;	5 Still, if you yourself have recourse to God and make supplication to the Almighty,
6 Se tu sei puro e diritto, Certamente egli si risveglierà di presente in favor tuo, E farà prosperare il tuo giusto abitacolo.	6 Should you be blameless and upright, surely now he will awake for you and restore your rightful domain;
7 E la tua condizione di prima sarà stata piccola, E l’ultima diventerà grandissima	7 Your former state will be of little moment, for in time to come you will flourish indeed.
8 Perciocchè domanda pur le età primiere, E disponti ad informarti da’ padri loro;	8 If you inquire of the former generations, and give heed to the experience of the fathers
9 Imperocchè, quant’è a noi, siamo sol da ieri in qua, E non abbiamo intendimento; Perchè i nostri giorni son come un’ombra sopra la terra;	9 (As we are but of yesterday and have no knowledge, because our days on earth are but a shadow),
10 Non insegnerannoti essi, e non parlerannoti, E non trarranno essi fuori ragionamenti dal cuor loro?	10 Will they not teach you and tell you and utter their words of understanding?
11 Il giunco sorgerà egli senza pantano? L’erba de’ prati crescerà ella senz’acqua?	11 Can the papyrus grow up without mire? Can the reed grass flourish without water?
12 E pure, mentre è ancor verde, e non è ancora segata, Si secca avanti ogni altra erba.	12 While it is yet green and uncut, it withers quicker than any grass.
13 Tali son le vie di tutti quelli che dimenticano Iddio, E così perirà la speranza dell’ipocrita;	13 So is the end of everyone who forgets God, and so shall the hope of the godless man perish.
14 La cui speranza sarà troncata, E la cui confidanza sarà una casa di ragnolo.	14 His confidence is but a gossamer thread and his trust is a spider's web.
15 Egli si appoggerà in su la casa sua, ma quella non istarà ferma; Egli si atterrà ad essa, ma ella non istarà in piè.	15 He shall rely upon his family, but it shall not last; he shall cling to it, but it shall not endure.
16 Egli è verdeggiante al sole, E i suoi rami si spandono fuori in sul giardino, nel quale è piantato;	16 He is full of sap before sunrise, and beyond his garden his shoots go forth;
17 Le sue radici s’intralciano presso alla fonte, Egli mira la casa di pietra.	17 About a heap of stones are his roots entwined; among the rocks he takes hold.
18 Ma, se alcuno lo manderà in ruina, divellendolo dal luogo suo, Questo lo rinnegherà dicendo: Io non ti vidi giammai.	18 Yet if one tears him from his place, it will disown him: "I have never seen you!"
19 Ecco, tale è l’allegrezza della sua via, E dalla polvere ne germoglieranno altri	19 There he lies rotting beside the road, and out of the soil another sprouts.
20 Ecco, Iddio non disdegna l’uomo intiero; Ma altresì non presta la mano a’ maligni.	20 Behold, God will not cast away the upright; neither will he take the hand of the wicked.
21 Ancora empierà egli la tua bocca di riso, E le tue labbra di giubilo.	21 Once more will he fill your mouth with laughter, and your lips with rejoicing.
22 Quelli che ti odiano saranno vestiti di vergogna; Ma il tabernacolo degli empi non sarà più	22 They that hate you shall be clothed with shame, and the tent of the wicked shall be no more.
