| 2 y enviamos a Timoteo, hermano nuestro y colaborador de Dios en el Evangelio de Cristo, para afianzaros y alentaros en vuestra fe, | 2 and sent Timothy, our brother and co-worker for God in the gospel of Christ, to strengthen and encourage you in your faith, |
| 3 de modo que ninguno titubease en las dificultades presentes; pues sabéis bien que esa es nuestra condición. | 3 so that no one be disturbed in these afflictions. For you yourselves know that we are destined for this. |
| 4 Cuando estábamos con vosotros, os decíamos ya que nos esperaban dificultades, y sabéis que así ocurrió. | 4 For even when we were among you, we used to warn you in advance that we would undergo affliction, just as has happened, as you know. |
| 5 Por ello, no pudiendo aguantar más, lo envié para que se informara de cómo andaba vuestra fe, pues temía que os hubiera tentado el tentador y que nuestro trabajo hubiera resultado inútil. | 5 For this reason, when I too could bear it no longer, I sent to learn about your faith, for fear that somehow the tempter had put you to the test and our toil might come to nothing. |
| 6 Ahora Timoteo acaba de llegar de ahí y nos ha traído buenas noticias de vuestra fe y vuestro amor, añadiendo que seguís manteniendo siempre buen recuerdo de nosotros y que tenéis tantas ganas de vernos como nosotros de veros a vosotros. | 6 But just now Timothy has returned to us from you, bringing us the good news of your faith and love, and that you always think kindly of us and long to see us as we long to see you. |
| 7 Por eso, hermanos, nos hemos sentido animados por vuestra fe en medio de todos nuestros aprietos y luchas. | 7 Because of this, we have been reassured about you, brothers, in our every distress and affliction, through your faith. |
| 8 Ahora sí que vivimos, sabiendo que os mantenéis fieles al Señor. | 8 For we now live, if you stand firm in the Lord. |
| 9 ¿Cómo podremos dar gracias a Dios por vosotros, por tanta alegría como gozamos delante de Dios por causa vuestra? | 9 What thanksgiving, then, can we render to God for you, for all the joy we feel on your account before our God? |
| 10 Noche y día pedimos insistentemente veros cara a cara y completar lo que falta a vuestra fe. | 10 Night and day we pray beyond measure to see you in person and to remedy the deficiencies of your faith. |
| 11 Que Dios nuestro Padre y nuestro Señor Jesús nos allanen el camino para ir a vosotros. | 11 Now may God himself, our Father, and our Lord Jesus direct our way to you, |
| 12 En cuanto a vosotros, que el Señor os colme y os haga rebosar de amor mutuo y de amor a todos, lo mismo que nosotros os amamos a vosotros; | 12 and may the Lord make you increase and abound in love for one another and for all, just as we have for you, |
| 13 y que afiance así vuestros corazones, de modo que os presentéis ante Dios, nuestro Padre, santos e irreprochables en la venida de nuestro Señor Jesús con todos sus santos. | 13 so as to strengthen your hearts, to be blameless in holiness before our God and Father at the coming of our Lord Jesus with all his holy ones. (Amen.) |
