Zacarías 7

BIBLIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 El año cuarto del rey Darío, la palabra de Yahveh fue dirigida a Zacarías, el día cuatro del noveno mes, el mes de Kisléu.	1 In the fourth year of King Darius, the word of Yahweh was addressed to Zechariah on the fourth day ofthe ninth month, the month of Chislev.
2 Betel había enviado a Sar Eser y a Réguem Mélek, con su gente, a ablandar el rostro de Yahveh,	2 Bethel sent Sharezer with a deputation to entreat Yahweh's favour
3 y a decir a los sacerdotes de la Casa de Yahveh Sebaot y a los profetas: «¿Deberé llorar en el quinto mes haciendo abstinencia como lo he hecho durante tantos años?»	3 and to ask the priests in the Temple of Yahweh Sabaoth and the prophets, 'Ought I to go on mourningand fasting in the fifth month as I have been doing for so many years past?'
4 Me fue dirigida la palabra de Yahveh en estos términos:	4 Then the word of Yahweh Sabaoth was addressed to me as fol ows,
5 Habla a todo el pueblo de la tierra y a los sacerdotes y di: «Cuando habéis ayunado y plañido, en el quinto y séptimo mes, y esto durante setenta años, ¿habéis ayunado de verdad por mí?	5 'Say to al the people of the country and to the priests, "While you have been fasting and mourning inthe fifth and seventh months for the past seventy years, have you real y been fasting for my sake?
6 Y cuando coméis y bebéis, ¿no sois vosotros los que coméis y bebéis?	6 And when you were eating and drinking, were you not eating and drinking for your own sake?
7 ¿No conocéis las palabras que Yahveh proclamó por ministerio de los antiguos profetas, cuando Jerusalén vivía en paz, con sus ciudades de alrededor, y estaban habitados el Négueb y la Tierra Baja?	7 Do you not know the words which Yahweh proclaimed through the prophets in the past, whenJerusalem was inhabited and secure, as were her surrounding towns, and when the Negeb and the lowlandswere inhabited?" ' (
8 (La palabra de Yahveh fue dirigida a Zacarías en estos términos:	8 The word of Yahweh was addressed to Zechariah as fol ows,
9 Así dijo Yahveh Sebaot): Juicio fiel juzgad, y amor y compasión practicad cada cual con su hermano.	9 'Yahweh Sabaoth says this.) He said, "Apply the law fairly, and show faithful love and compassion towards one another.
10 No oprimáis a la viuda, al huérfano, al forastero, ni al pobre; y no maquinéis mal uno contra otro en vuestro corazón.	10 Do not oppress the widow and the orphan, the foreigner and the poor, and do not secretly plan evilagainst one another."
11 Para ellos no quisieron hacer caso; hombro rebelde presentaron y endurecieron sus oídos para no escuchar;	11 But they would not listen; they turned a rebel ious shoulder; they stopped their ears rather than hear;
12 su corazón hicieron de diamante para no oír la Ley y las palabras que Yahveh Sebaot había dirigido por su espíritu, por ministerio de los antiguos profetas. Hubo entonces gran enojo de Yahveh Sebaot.	12 they made their hearts adamant rather than listen to the teaching and the words that Yahweh Sabaothhad sent -- by his spirit -- through the prophets in the past; and consequently the fury of Yahweh Sabaothovertook them.
13 Y sucedió que, como él había clamado y ellos no habían escuchado, así ellos clamaban y yo no les escuchaba, dice Yahveh Sebaot.	13 And so, since when he cal ed they would not listen, "I would not listen when they called", says YahwehSabaoth,
14 Sino que los dispersé entre todas las naciones que no conocían, y la tierra quedó devastada detrás de ellos: ya nadie iba ni venía. Y así convirtieron una tierra de delicias en desolación».	14 "but scattered them among al the nations unknown to them. Hence, after they had gone, the countrywas deserted, and no one came or went. They had turned a land of delights into a desert." '
