1 Salomón dominaba todos los reinos, desde el Río hasta el país de los filisteos y hasta la frontera de Egipto. Pagaban tributo y servían a Salomón todos los días de su vida.	1 Solomon ruled over all the kingdoms from the River to the land of the Philistines, down to the border of Egypt; they paid Solomon tribute and were his vassals as long as he lived.
2 Los víveres de Salomón eran treinta cargas de flor de harina y sesenta cargas de harina cada día,	2 Solomon's supplies for each day were thirty kors of fine flour, sixty kors of meal,
3 diez bueyes cebados y veinte bueyes de pasto, cien cabezas de ganado menor, aparte los ciervos y gacelas, gamos y las aves cebadas.	3 ten fatted oxen, twenty pasture-fed oxen, and a hundred sheep, not counting harts, gazelles, roebucks, and fatted fowl.
4 Porque dominaba en toda la Transeufratina, desde Tafsaj hasta Gaza, sobre todos los reyes de más acá del Río; tuvo paz en torno a todas sus fronteras.	4 He ruled over all the land west of the Euphrates, from Tiphsah to Gaza, and over all its kings, and he had peace on all his borders round about.
5 Judá e Israel vivieron en seguridad, cada uno bajo su parra y bajo su higuera, desde Dan hasta Berseba, todos los días de Salomón.	5 Thus Judah and Israel lived in security, every man under his vine or under his fig tree from Dan to Beer-sheba, as long as Solomon lived.
6 Tenía Salomón 4.000 establos de caballos para sus carros y 12.000 caballos.	6 Solomon had four thousand stalls for his twelve thousand chariot horses.
7 Los gobernadores proveían un mes cada uno al rey Salomón y a todos los que se acercaban a la mesa de Salomón, de modo que nada les faltara.	7 These commissaries, one for each month, provided food for King Solomon and for all the guests at the royal table. They left nothing unprovided.
8 Llevaban la cebada y la paja para los caballos y los animales de tiro al lugar donde él estaba, cada uno según su turno.	8 For the chariot horses and draft animals also, each brought his quota of barley and straw to the required place.
9 Dios concedió a Salomón sabiduría e inteligencia muy grandes y un corazón tan dilatado como la arena de la orilla del mar.	9 Moreover, God gave Solomon wisdom and exceptional understanding and knowledge, as vast as the sand on the seashore.
10 La sabiduría de Salomón era mayor que la sabiduría de todos los hijos de Oriente y que toda la sabiduría de Egipto.	10 Solomon surpassed all the Cedemites and all the Egyptians in wisdom.
11 Fue más sabio que hombre alguno, más que Etán el ezrajita, que Hemán, Kalkol y Dardá, hijos de Majol; su nombre se extendió por todos los pueblos circunvecinos.	11 He was wiser than all other men--than Ethan the Ezrahite, or Heman, Chalcol, and Darda, the musicians--and his fame spread throughout the neighboring nations.
12 Pronunció 3.000 parábolas y proverbios, y sus cánticos fueron 1.005.	12 Solomon also uttered three thousand proverbs, and his songs numbered a thousand and five.
13 Habló sobre las plantas, desde el cedro del Líbano hasta el hisopo que brota en el muro; habló de los cuadrúpedos, de las aves, de los reptiles y de los peces.	13 He discussed plants, from the cedar on Lebanon to the hyssop growing out of the wall, and he spoke about beasts, birds, reptiles, and fishes.
14 Venían de todos los pueblos para oír la sabiduría de Salomón, y de parte de todos los reyes de la tierra que tuvieron noticia de su sabiduría.	14 Men came to hear Solomon's wisdom from all nations, sent by all the kings of the earth who had heard of his wisdom.
15 Jiram, rey de Tiro, envió sus servidores a Salomón, porque oyó que había sido ungido rey en lugar de su padre, y Jiram fue siempre amigo de David.	15 When Hiram, king of Tyre, heard that Solomon had been anointed king in place of his father, he sent an embassy to him; for Hiram had always been David's friend.
16 Salomón envió a decir a Jiram:	16 Solomon sent back this message to Hiram:
17 «Sabes bien que mi padre David no pudo edificar una Casa al Nombre de Yahveh su Dios a causa de las guerras en que sus enemigos le envolvieron hasta que Yahveh los puso bajo la planta de sus pies.	17 "You know that my father David, because of the enemies surrounding him on all sides, could not build a temple in honor of the LORD, his God, until such a time as the LORD should put these enemies under the soles of his feet.
18 Al presente, Yahveh mi Dios me ha concedido paz por todos lados. No hay adversario ni maldad.	18 But now the LORD, my God, has given me peace on all sides. There is no enemy or threat of danger.
19 Ahora me he propuesto edificar una Casa al Nombre de Yahveh mi Dios según lo que Yahveh dijo a David mi padre: “El hijo tuyo que yo colocaré en tu lugar sobre tu trono edificará una Casa a mi Nombre.”	19 So I purpose to build a temple in honor of the LORD, my God, as the LORD predicted to my father David when he said: 'It is your son whom I will put upon your throne in your place who shall build the temple in my honor.'
20 Así pues, ordena que se corten para mí cedros del Líbano. Mis servidores estarán con tus servidores: te pagaré como salario de tus servidores todo lo que me digas, pues tú sabes que no hay nadie entre nosotros que sepa talar los árboles como los sidonios».	20 Give orders, then, to have cedars from the Lebanon cut down for me. My servants shall accompany yours, since you know that there is no one among us who is skilled in cutting timber like the Sidonians, and I will pay you whatever you say for your servants' salary."
21 Cuando Jiram oyó las palabras de Salomón se alegró mucho y dijo: «Bendito sea hoy Yahveh, pues ha dado a David un hijo sabio para jefe de este pueblo numeroso».	21 When he had heard the words of Solomon, Hiram was pleased and said, "Blessed be the LORD this day, who has given David a wise son to rule this numerous people."
22 Jiram envió a decir a Salomón: «He oído lo que me enviaste a decir. Yo haré cuanto deseas en madera de cedro y de ciprés.	22 Hiram then sent word to Solomon, "I agree to the proposal you sent me, and I will provide all the cedars and fir trees you wish.
23 Mis siervos los bajarán desde el Líbano hasta el mar, y yo los pondré en balsas y los llevaré al lugar a que me mandes; allí se soltarán y tú los cargarás, y por tu parte harás según mi deseo dando víveres a mi casa».	23 My servants shall bring them down from the Lebanon to the sea, and I will arrange them into rafts in the sea and bring them wherever you say. There I will break up the rafts, and you shall take the lumber. You, for your part, shall furnish the provisions I desire for my household."
24 Jiram dio a Salomón toda la madera de cedro y ciprés que deseaba.	24 So Hiram continued to provide Solomon with all the cedars and fir trees he wished;
25 Salomón dio a Jiram 20.000 cargas de trigo para la manutención de su casa y 20.000 medidas de oliva molida. Esto daba Salomón a Jiram cada año.	25 while Solomon every year gave Hiram twenty thousand kors of wheat to provide for his household, and twenty thousand measures of pure oil.
26 Yahveh dio sabiduría a Salomón, como se lo había prometido, y hubo paz entre Jiram y Salomón pactando una alianza entrambos.	26 The LORD, moreover, gave Solomon wisdom as he promised him, and there was peace between Hiram and Solomon, since they were parties to a treaty.
27 Hizo el rey Salomón una leva en todo Israel; la leva fue de 30.000 hombres.	27 King Solomon conscripted thirty thousand workmen from all Israel.
28 Los envió al Líbano, 10.000 cada mes, por turnos; un mes estaban en el Líbano y dos meses en sus casas. Adoram estaba al frente de la leva.	28 He sent them to the Lebanon each month in relays of ten thousand, so that they spent one month in the Lebanon and two months at home. Adoniram was in charge of the draft.
29 Tenía además Salomón 70.000 porteadores y 80.000 canteros en el monte	29 Solomon had seventy thousand carriers and eighty thousand stonecutters in the mountain,
30 aparte los capataces de los prefectos puestos por Salomón al frente de los trabajos, 3.300 que mandaban a la gente empleada en los trabajos.	30 in addition to three thousand three hundred overseers, answerable to Solomon's prefects for the work, directing the people engaged in the work.
31 El rey mandó arrancar grandes piedras, piedras selectas, para fundamentar la Casa con piedras de sillería.	31 By order of the king, fine, large blocks were quarried to give the temple a foundation of hewn stone.
32 Los obreros de Salomón, los obreros de Jiram y los guiblitas cortaron y dispusieron la madera y las piedras para construir la Casa.	32 Solomon's and Hiram's builders, along with the Gebalites, hewed them out, and prepared the wood and stones for building the temple.
