1 David preguntó: «¿Queda todavía algún hijo de la casa de Saúl? Quiero favorecerle por amor a Jonatán.	1 David asked, "Is there any survivor of Saul's house to whom I may show kindness for the sake of Jonathan?"
2 Tenía la familia de Saúl un siervo llamado Sibá. Le convocaron ante David y el rey le dijo: «¿Eres tú Sibá?» Respondió: «Tu siervo soy».	2 Now there was a servant of the family of Saul named Ziba. He was summoned to David, and the king asked him, "Are you Ziba?" He replied, "Your servant."
3 Dijo el rey: «¿Queda alguien todavía de la casa de Saúl para que yo tenga con él una misericordia sin medida?» Sibá contestó al rey: «Vive todavía un hijo de Jonatán, tullido de pies».	3 Then the king inquired, "Is there any survivor of Saul's house to whom I may show God's kindness?" Ziba answered the king, "There is still Jonathan's son, whose feet are crippled."
4 El rey le preguntó: «¿Dónde está?» Respondió Sibá al rey: «Esta en casa de Makir, hijo de Ammiel, en Lo Debar».	4 The king said to him, "Where is he?" and Ziba answered, "He is in the house of Machir, son of Ammiel, in Lodebar."
5 Y el rey David mandó traerlo de la casa de Makir, hijo de Ammiel, de Lo Debar.	5 So King David sent for him and had him brought from the house of Machir, son of Ammiel, in Lodebar.
6 Llegó Meribbaal, hijo de Jonatán, hijo de Saúl, adonde David y cayendo sobre su rostro se postró. David le dijo: «Meribbaal», y respondió: «Aquí tienes a tu siervo».	6 When Meribbaal, son of Jonathan, son of Saul, came to David, he fell prostrate in homage. David said, "Meribbaal," and he answered, "Your servant."
7 David le dijo: «No temas, quiero favorecerte por amor de Jonatán, tu padre. Haré que te devuelvan todos los campos de tu padre Saúl, y tú comerás siempre a mi mesa».	7 "Fear not," David said to him, "I will surely be kind to you for the sake of your father Jonathan. I will restore to you all the lands of your grandfather Saul, and you shall always eat at my table."
8 El se postró y dijo: «¿Qué es tu siervo, para que te fijes en un perro muerto como yo?»	8 Bowing low, he answered, "What is your servant that you should pay attention to a dead dog like me?"
9 Llamó el rey a Sibá, criado de Saúl, y le dijo: «Todo lo que pertenecía a Saúl y a toda su casa, se lo doy al hijo de tu señor.	9 The king then called Ziba, Saul's attendant, and said to him: "I am giving your lord's son all that belonged to Saul and to all his family.
10 Cultivarás para él la tierra tú, tus hijos y tus siervos, y se lo llevarás a la familia de tu señor para que pueda comer. Meribbaal, el hijo de tu señor, comerá siempre a mi mesa». Tenía Sibá quince hijos y veinte siervos.	10 You and your sons and servants must till the land for him. You shall bring in the produce, which shall be food for your lord's family to eat. But Meribbaal, your lord's son, shall always eat at my table." Ziba, who had fifteen sons and twenty servants,
11 Respondió Sibá al rey: «Tu siervo hará todo lo que mi señor el rey ha mandado a su siervo». Meribbaal comía a la mesa de David como uno de los hijos del rey.	11 said to the king, "Your servant shall do just as my lord the king has commanded him." And so Meribbaal ate at David's table like one of the king's sons.
12 Tenía Meribbaal un hijo pequeño, llamado Miká. Todos los que vivían en casa de Sibá eran siervos de Meribbaal.	12 Meribbaal had a young son whose name was Mica; and all the tenants of Ziba's family worked for Meribbaal.
13 Pero Meribbaal vivía en Jerusalén porque comía siempre a la mesa del rey. Estaba tullido de pies.	13 But Meribbaal lived in Jerusalem, because he always ate at the king's table. He was lame in both feet.
