Lettera ai Romani 10

1 Fratelli, il voto del mio cuore e la preghiera che fo a Dio per essi è che sian salvati;	1 Brothers, certainly the will of my heart, and my prayer to God, is for them unto salvation.
2 perchè, rendo loro questa testimonianza, hanno lo zelo di Dio, ma non secondo la cognizione del vero:	2 For I offer testimony to them, that they have a zeal for God, but not according to knowledge.
3 infatti, ignorando la giustizia di Dio e cercando di stabilire la propria, non si sono sottomessi alla giustizia di Dio;	3 For, being ignorant of the justice of God, and seeking to establish their own justice, they have not subjected themselves to the justice of God.
4 perchè fine della legge è Cristo, per dare la giustizia ad ogni credente.	4 For the end of the law, Christ, is unto justice for all who believe.
5 Mosè infatti dice della giustizia che vien dalla legge: « Chi l'avrà adempita, vivrà per essa ».	5 And Moses wrote, about the justice that is of the law, that the man who will have done justice shall live by justice.
6 Ma della giustizia che vien dalla fede dice: « Non dire in cuor tuo: « Chi salirà in cielo ? » sarebbe a dire per farne discendere il Cristo;	6 But the justice that is of faith speaks in this way: Do not say in your heart: “Who shall ascend into heaven?” (that is, to bring Christ down);
7 « Chi scenderà nell'abisso? » viene a dire per risuscitare il Cristo da morte.	7 “Or who shall descend into the abyss?” (that is, to call back Christ from the dead).
8 Ma che dice la Scrittura? « Tu hai presso di te la parola nella tua bocca e nel tuo cuore »: questa è la parola della fede che noi predichiamo.	8 But what does Scripture say? “The word is near, in your mouth and in your heart.” This is the word of faith, which we are preaching.
9 Se tu quindi colla tua bocca confesserai il Signore Gesù, e crederai in cuor tuo che Dio l'ha risuscitato da morte, sarai salvo;	9 For if you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus, and if you believe in your heart that God has raised him up from the dead, you shall be saved.
10 perchè credendo di cuore si perviene alla giustizia, e la confessione della bocca mena alla salute.	10 For with the heart, we believe unto justice; but with the mouth, confession is unto salvation.
11 Dice infatti la Scrittura: Chiunque crede in lui, non sarà confuso.	11 For Scripture says: “All those who believe in him shall not be confounded.”
12 Non c'è dunque distinzione fra Giudeo e Greco, perchè lo stesso è il Signore di tutti, ricco verso tutti quelli che l'invocano:	12 For there is no distinction between Jew and Greek. For the same Lord is over all, richly in all who call upon him.
13 infatti «chiunque in­vocherà il nome del Signore, sarà salvo ».	13 For all those who have called upon the name of the Lord shall be saved.
14 Ma come invocheranno uno in cui non hanno creduto? E come crederanno in uno di cui non hanno sentito parlare? Come poi ne sentiranno parlare, senza chi predichi?	14 Then in what way will those who have not believed in him call upon him? Or in what way will those who have not heard of him believe in him? And in what way will they hear of him without preaching?
15 E come predicheranno se non sono mandati? come sta scritto: Quanto son belli i piedi di coloro che evangelizzano la pace, che evangelizzano il bene!	15 And truly, in what way will they preach, unless they have been sent, just as it has been written: “How beautiful are the feet of those who evangelize peace, of those who evangelize what is good!”
16 Ma non tutti obbediscono al Vangelo. Isaia infatti dice: Signore, chi ha creduto a ciò che ha da noi udito?	16 But not all are obedient to the Gospel. For Isaiah says: “Lord, who has believed our report?”
17 La fede vien dunque da ciò che è udito, e si ode per la parola di Cristo.	17 Therefore, faith is from hearing, and hearing is through the Word of Christ.
18 Ma domando: Non han forse udito? Eppure: Per tutta la terra ha risuonato la loro vote, e le loro parole son giunte fino agli estremi confini della terra.	18 But I say: Have they not heard? For certainly: “Their sound has gone forth throughout all the earth, and their words unto the limits of the whole world.”
19 Ma chiedo ancora: Forse Israele non ne seppe nulla? Mosè pel primo dice: Ecciterò la vostra gelosia contro una nazione, che non è nazione, provocherò il vostro sdegno contro una nazione stolta.	19 But I say: Has Israel not known? First, Moses says: “I will lead you into a rivalry with those who are not a nation; in the midst of a foolish nation, I will send you into wrath.”
20 Isaia poi ha l'audacia di dire: Mi han trovato quelli che non mi cercavano, mi son presentato a coloro che non chiede vano di me.	20 And Isaiah dares to say: “I was discovered by those who were not seeking me. I appeared openly to those who were not asking about me.”
21 Ad Israele poi dice: Tutto il giorno stesi le mie mani verso un popolo incredulo e ribelle.	21 Then to Israel he says: “All day long I have stretched out my hands to a people who do not believe and who contradict me.”
