BIBBIA TINTORI	NEW JERUSALEM
1 V'ho detto questo affinchè non vi scandalizziate.	1 I have told you al this so that you may not fal away.
2 Vi cacceranno dalle sinagoghe, anzi è per venire l'ora in cui chi vi uccide crederà di onorare Dio.	2 They wil expel you from the synagogues, and indeed the time is coming when anyone who kills youwil think he is doing a holy service to God.
3 E cosi vi tratteranno perchè non han conosciuto nè il Padre ne me.	3 They wil do these things because they have never known either the Father or me.
4 Ma questo ve l'ho detto, affinchè quando avverrà vi rammentiate che ve n'ho parlato.	4 But I have told you all this, so that when the time for it comes you may remember that I told you. I didnot tell you this from the beginning, because I was with you;
5 E non vi dissi queste cose da principio, perchè io ero con voi; ma ora vo a colui che mi ha mandato e nessuno di voi mi domanda:	5 but now I am going to the one who sent me. Not one of you asks, 'Where are you going?'
6 Dove vai? Invece perchè vi ho dette queste cose, la tristezza vi ha riempito il cuore.	6 Yet you are sad at heart because I have told you this.
7 Ma io vi dico il vero: è meglio per voi che me ne vada; perchè se io non me ne vado, non verrà a voi il Consolatore: e se me ne vado, lo manderò a voi.	7 Stil , I am telling you the truth: it is for your own good that I am going, because unless I go, theParaclete wil not come to you; but if I go, I will send him to you.
8 E, venendo, egli convincerà il mondo riguardo al peccato, alla giustizia e al giudizio.	8 And when he comes, he wil show the world how wrong it was, about sin, and about who was in theright, and about judgement:
9 Al peccato, per non aver creduto in me;	9 about sin: in that they refuse to believe in me;
10 alla giustizia, perchè io vo al Padre e non mi vedrete più;	10 about who was in the right: in that I am going to the Father and you will see me no more;
11 al giudizio, perchè il principe di questo mondo è già giudicato.	11 about judgement: in that the prince of this world is already condemned.
12 Molte cose avrei ancora da dirvi; ma per ora non ne siete capaci.	12 I still have many things to say to you but they would be too much for you to bear now.
13 Quando però sia venuto quello Spirito di verità, egli vi ammaestrerà in ogni vero; chè non vi parlerà da se stesso, ma dirà tutto quello che avrà udito e v'annunzierà l'avvenire.	13 However, when the Spirit of truth comes he will lead you to the complete truth, since he wil not bespeaking of his own accord, but wil say only what he has been told; and he wil reveal to you the things to come.
14 Egli mi glorificherà, perchè riceverà del mio e ve lo annunzierà.	14 He wil glorify me, since al he reveals to you wil be taken from what is mine.
15 Tutto quello che ha il Padre è mio; per questo ho detto che riceverà del mio e ve lo annunzierà.	15 Everything the Father has is mine; that is why I said: all he reveals to you wil be taken from what ismine.
16 Ancora un poco, e non mi vedrete; e un altro poco e mi vedrete; perchè vado al Padre.	16 In a short time you will no longer see me, and then a short time later you wil see me again.
17 Allora alcuni dei suoi discepoli dissero tra loro: Che vuol mai dire con questo suo: Ancora un poco e non mi vedrete, e un altro poco e mi vedrete, e me ne vado al Padre?	17 Then some of his disciples said to one another, 'What does he mean, "In a short time you wil nolonger see me, and then a short time later you wil see me again," and, "I am going to the Father"?
18 E ripetevano: Che significa questo suo « un poco »? Non comprendiamo quello che voglia dire.	18 What is this "short time"? We don't know what he means.'
19 Or Gesù, conosciuto che volevano interrogarlo, disse loro: Vi domandate l'un l'altro che cosa voglia dire quel mio: Ancora un poco e non mi vedrete, un altro poco e mi vedrete.	19 Jesus knew that they wanted to question him, so he said, 'You are asking one another what I meantby saying, "In a short time you wil no longer see me, and then a short time later you wil see me again."
20 In verità, in verità vi dico: piangerete e gemerete ed il mondo godrà: voi certo sarete in afflizione, ma la vostra tristezza sarà mutata in letizia.	20 'In al truth I tell you, you wil be weeping and wailing while the world wil rejoice; you will be sorrowful,but your sorrow wil turn to joy.
21 La donna quando partorisce è fin doglia, perchè è giunta la sua ora; quando però ha dato alla luce il bambino non ricorda più l'angoscia a motivo dell'allegrezza, perchè è venuto al mondo un uomo.	21 A woman in childbirth suffers, because her time has come; but when she has given birth to the childshe forgets the suffering in her joy that a human being has been born into the world.
22 Così voi siete ora in tristezza; ma io vi vedrò di nuovo, e ne gioirà il vostro cuore e nesgsuno vi toglierà la vostra gioia.	22 So it is with you: you are sad now, but I shal see you again, and your hearts wil be ful of joy, andthat joy no one shal take from you.
23 E in quel giorno voi non mi interrogherete di nulla. In verità, in verità vi dico: qualunque cosa domanderete al Padre in nome mio, ve la concederà.	23 When that day comes, you will not ask me any questions. In all truth I tel you, anything you ask fromthe Father he wil grant in my name.
24 Fino ad lora non avete chiesto nulla in nome mio: chiedete e otterrete, affinchè la vostra gioia sia piena.	24 Until now you have not asked anything in my name. Ask and you wil receive, and so your joy wil becomplete.
25 Queste cose io v'ho dette per via di paragoni. Ma sta per venire l'ora in cui non vi parlerò più per via di paragoni; ma apertamente vi darò conoscenza del Padre.	25 I have been tel ing you these things in veiled language. The hour is coming when I shall no longerspeak to you in veiled language but tell you about the Father in plain words.
26 In quel giorno chiederete in nome mio, e non vi dico che io pregherò il Padre per voi;	26 When that day comes you wil ask in my name; and I do not say that I shal pray to the Father for you,
27 perchè il Padre stesso vi ama, avendo voi amato me e creduto ch'io sia uscito dal Padre.	27 because the Father himself loves you for loving me, and believing that I came from God.
28 Partito dal Padre, son venuto nel mondo; or lascio il mondo e torno al Padre!	28 I came from the Father and have come into the world and now I am leaving the world to go to theFather.'
29 Gli dissero i suoi discepoli: Ora sì che parli chiaro e non usi nessun paragone.	29 His disciples said, 'Now you are speaking plainly and not using veiled language.
30 Ora conosciamo che sai tutto e non hai bisogno che alcuno t'interroghi, e per questo crediamo che sei venuto da Dio.	30 Now we see that you know everything and need not wait for questions to be put into words; becauseof this we believe that you came from God.'
31 Rispose Gesù: Ora credete?	31 Jesus answered them: Do you believe at last?
32 Ecco, vien l'ora, anzi già è venuta, in cui vi disperderete ciascuno per la sua strada, e mi lascerete solo; ma non resto solo, perchè meco è il Padre.	32 Listen; the time wil come -- indeed it has come already -- when you are going to be scattered, eachgoing his own way and leaving me alone. And yet I am not alone, because the Father is with me.
33 Tali cose v'ho dette affinchè abbiate pace in me. Nel mondo avrete afflizioni; ma fatevi coraggio: io ho vinto il mondo.	33 I have told you al this so that you may find peace in me. In the world you wil have hardship, but becourageous: I have conquered the world.
