LA SACRA BIBBIA	NEW JERUSALEM
1 Maskil. Di Asaf. Perché, o Dio, ci respingi per sempre? Perché divampa la tua ira contro il gregge del tuo pascolo?	1 [Poem Of Asaph] God, why have you final y rejected us, your anger blazing against the flock you usedto pasture?
2 Ricòrdati della tua comunità che ti acquistasti da tempo, che riscattasti quale tribù della tua eredità, del monte Sion, dove fissasti la tua dimora.	2 Remember the people you took to yourself long ago, your own tribe which you redeemed, and thisMount Zion where you came to live.
3 Volgi i tuoi passi a queste rovine irreparabili, verso tutte le devastazioni che il nemico ha fatte nel santuario.	3 Come up to these endless ruins! The enemy have sacked everything in the sanctuary;
4 Ruggirono i tuoi nemici nel luogo delle tue assemblee; là issarono i loro vessilli.	4 your opponents made uproar in the place of assemblies, they fixed their emblems over the entrance,emblems
5 Sembrava che vibrassero le scuri nel fitto d'una selva;	5 never known before. Their axes deep in the wood,
6 abbatterono le sue porte tutto d'un colpo, le frantumarono con ascia e scure.	6 hacking at the panels, they battered them down with axe and pick;
7 Dettero alle fiamme il tuo santuario, profanarono fino a terra la dimora del tuo nome;	7 they set fire to your sanctuary, profanely rased to the ground the dwel ing-place of your name.
8 dicendo in cuor loro: "Distruggiamoli tutto d'un colpo!". Hanno incendiato tutti i luoghi di culto che si trovavano nel paese.	8 They said to themselves, 'Let us crush them at one stroke!' They burned down every sacred shrine inthe land.
9 I nostri vessilli non li vediamo più; non c'è più nessun profeta, e fra noi non c'è alcuno che sappia fino a quando.	9 We see no signs, no prophet any more, and none of us knows how long it wil last.
10 Fino a quando, o Dio, lancerà insulti l'avversario? Il nemico potrà forse per sempre disprezzare il tuo nome?	10 How much longer, God, will the enemy blaspheme? Is the enemy to insult your name for ever?
11 Perché ritrai la tua mano e trattieni in seno la tua destra?	11 Why hold back your hand, keep your right hand hidden in the folds of your robe?
12 Ma Dio è mio re dai tempi antichi, Colui che opera vittorie nel mezzo del paese.	12 Yet, God, my king from the first, author of saving acts throughout the earth,
13 Tu con la tua potenza dividesti il mare, schiacciasti la testa di draghi sulle acque.	13 by your power you split the sea in two, and smashed the heads of the monsters on the waters.
14 Tu fracassasti il capo del Leviatàn, lo desti in pasto ai mostri marini.	14 You crushed Leviathan's heads, gave him as food to the wild animals.
15 Tu fonti e torrenti facesti scaturire, mentre fiumi perenni facesti seccare.	15 You released the springs and brooks, and turned primordial rivers into dry land.
16 Tuo è il giorno e tua è la notte, tu fissasti la luna e il sole.	16 Yours is the day and yours the night, you caused sun and light to exist,
17 Tu stabilisti i confini della terra, estate e inverno, tu li formasti.	17 you fixed all the boundaries of the earth, you created summer and winter.
18 Ricòrdati di questo: il nemico ha vilipeso, o Dio, un popolo stolto ha insultato il tuo nome.	18 Remember, Yahweh, the enemy's blasphemy, a foolish people insults your name.
19 Non abbandonare alle fiere l'anima che ti loda; non lasciare in oblio la vita dei tuoi poveri.	19 Do not surrender your turtledove to the beast; do not forget for ever the life of your oppressed people.
20 Sii fedele all'alleanza, poiché nei remoti angoli della terra abbondano i covi della violenza.	20 Look to the covenant! Al the hiding-places of the land are ful , haunts of violence.
21 L'umile non torni confuso; l'afflitto e il povero lodino il tuo nome.	21 Do not let the downtrodden retreat in confusion, give the poor and needy cause to praise your name.
22 Sorgi, o Dio, e difendi la tua causa; ricòrdati degli insulti che verso di te rivolge lo stolto tutto il giorno.	22 Arise, God, champion your own cause, remember how fools blaspheme you all day long!
23 Non dimenticare lo strepito dei tuoi nemici, il tumulto sempre crescente di quanti a te si ribellano.	23 Do not forget the shouting of your enemies, the ever-mounting uproar of your adversaries.
