2 Thessalonians 3

1 Finally, brethren, pray for us, that the word of the Lord may speed on and triumph, as it did among you,	1 Per il resto, fratelli, pregate per noi, affinché la parola del Signore continui la sua corsa e sia glorificata come lo è presso di voi,
2 and that we may be delivered from wicked and evil men; for not all have faith.	2 e noi siamo liberati da uomini perversi e malvagi. La fede infatti non è di tutti.
3 But the Lord is faithful; he will strengthen you and guard you from evil.	3 Ma il Signore è fedele: egli vi confermerà e vi custodirà dal maligno.
4 And we have confidence in the Lord about you, that you are doing and will do the things which we command.	4 Riguardo a voi abbiamo fiducia nel Signore, che quanto vi comandiamo già lo facciate e lo farete.
5 May the Lord direct your hearts to the love of God and to the steadfastness of Christ.	5 Il Signore diriga i vostri cuori verso l'amore di Dio e la pazienza di Cristo.
6 Now we command you, brethren, in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ, that you keep away from any brother who is living in idleness and not in accord with the tradition that you received from us.	6 Vi ordiniamo, però, fratelli, nel nome del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo, di stare lontani da tutti quei fratelli che vivono indisciplinatamente e non secondo l'insegnamento che ricevettero da noi.
7 For you yourselves know how you ought to imitate us; we were not idle when we were with you,	7 Infatti voi stessi sapete in che modo dovete imitarci, poiché non fummo degli oziosi in mezzo a voi,
8 we did not eat any one's bread without paying, but with toil and labor we worked night and day, that we might not burden any of you.	8 né abbiamo mangiato il pane gratuitamente da alcuno, ma lavorando notte e giorno con fatica e stenti, per non essere di peso a nessuno di voi.
9 It was not because we have not that right, but to give you in our conduct an example to imitate.	9 Non perché non ne avessimo il diritto, ma per offrirci a voi come modello da imitare.
10 For even when we were with you, we gave you this command: If any one will not work, let him not eat.	10 Inoltre, quando eravamo con voi, vi raccomandavamo questo: se uno non vuole lavorare, neanche mangi.
11 For we hear that some of you are living in idleness, mere busybodies, not doing any work.	11 Ora siamo venuti a sapere che alcuni vivono in mezzo a voi disordinatamente, non lavorando affatto, ma impicciandosi di tutto.
12 Now such persons we command and exhort in the Lord Jesus Christ to do their work in quietness and to earn their own living.	12 A questi tali comandiamo, e li ammoniamo nel Signore Gesù Cristo, che mangino il proprio pane, lavorando senza chiasso.
13 Brethren, do not be weary in well-doing.	13 Voi, però, fratelli, non cessate di fare il bene.
14 If any one refuses to obey what we say in this letter, note that man, and have nothing to do with him, that he may be ashamed.	14 Se qualcuno non ubbidisce alle ingiunzioni di questa nostra lettera, notatelo e non conversate più con lui, affinché si vergogni.
15 Do not look on him as an enemy, but warn him as a brother.	15 Tuttavia non ritenetelo come un nemico, ma avvertitelo come un fratello.
16 Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times in all ways. The Lord be with you all.	16 Lo stesso Signore della pace vi dia la pace sempre e in ogni maniera. Il Signore sia con tutti voi.
17 I, Paul, write this greeting with my own hand. This is the mark in every letter of mine; it is the way I write.	17 Il saluto è di mia mano, di Paolo; questo è il sigillo di tutte le lettere. Così io scrivo.
18 The grace of our Lord Jesus Christ be with you all.	18 La grazia del Signore nostro Gesù Cristo sia con tutti voi.
