Joshua 11

1 When Jabin king of Hazor heard of this, he sent to Jobab king of Madon, and to the king of Shimron, and to the king of Achshaph,	1 Cuando se enteró Yabín, rey de Jasor, mandó aviso a Yobab, rey de Madón, al rey de Simerón, al rey de Axaf
2 and to the kings who were in the northern hill country, and in the Arabah south of Chinneroth, and in the lowland, and in Naphoth-dor on the west,	2 y a los reyes del norte de la montaña, del valle al sur de Kinerot, de la Sefelá y del distrito de Dor, al oeste;
3 to the Canaanites in the east and the west, the Amorites, the Hittites, the Perizzites, and the Jebusites in the hill country, and the Hivites under Hermon in the land of Mizpah.	3 a los cananeos de oriente y occidente; a los amorreos, los heveos, los perizitas, a los jebuseos de la montaña; a los hititas de las faldas del Hermón, en la región de Mispá.
4 And they came out, with all their troops, a great host, in number like the sand that is upon the seashore, with very many horses and chariots.	4 Partieron estos con todas sus tropas: una muchedumbre innumerable como la arena de la playa, con muchísimos caballos y carros.
5 And all these kings joined their forces, and came and encamped together at the waters of Merom, to fight with Israel.	5 Reunidos todos estos reyes, fueron a acampar en un único campamento cerca del arroyo de Merón para luchar contra Israel.
6 And the LORD said to Joshua, "Do not be afraid of them, for tomorrow at this time I will give over all of them, slain, to Israel; you shall hamstring their horses, and burn their chariots with fire."	6 El Señor dijo entonces a Josué: «No les tengas miedo, porque mañana, a esta misma hora, haré que caigan todos ellos muertos ante Israel; tú les desjarretarás los caballos y les quemarás los carros».
7 So Joshua came suddenly upon them with all his people of war, by the waters of Merom, and fell upon them.	7 Josué, con toda su gente de guerra, los alcanzó de improviso junto al arroyo de Merón y cayó sobre ellos.
8 And the LORD gave them into the hand of Israel, who smote them and chased them as far as Great Sidon and Misrephoth-maim, and eastward as far as the valley of Mizpeh; and they smote them, until they left none remaining.	8 El Señor los entregó a Israel, que los derrotó y persiguió por el Oeste hasta Sidón la Grande y Misrefot, y por el Este hasta el valle de Mispá. Los derrotó hasta que no quedó ninguno vivo.
9 And Joshua did to them as the LORD bade him; he hamstrung their horses, and burned their chariots with fire.	9 Josué los trató como le había dicho el Señor: les desjarretó los caballos y les quemó los carros.
10 And Joshua turned back at that time, and took Hazor, and smote its king with the sword; for Hazor formerly was the head of all those kingdoms.	10 Luego Josué se volvió y tomó Jasor y mató a su rey a espada. (Jasor era antiguamente la capital de todos aquellos reinos).
11 And they put to the sword all who were in it, utterly destroying them; there was none left that breathed, and he burned Hazor with fire.	11 Pasaron a cuchillo a todos los seres vivientes que habitaban en ella, consagrándolos al exterminio. No quedó alma viva. Y Jasor fue entregada a las llamas.
12 And all the cities of those kings, and all their kings, Joshua took, and smote them with the edge of the sword, utterly destroying them, as Moses the servant of the LORD had commanded.	12 Josué se apoderó de todas las ciudades de aquellos reyes y de todos sus reyes, y las pasó a cuchillo, consagrándolas al exterminio, según le había ordenado Moisés, siervo del Señor.
13 But none of the cities that stood on mounds did Israel burn, except Hazor only; that Joshua burned.	13 Pero Israel no incendió ninguna de las ciudades emplazadas sobre colinas; con la única excepción de Jasor, que fue incendiada por Josué.
14 And all the spoil of these cities and the cattle, the people of Israel took for their booty; but every man they smote with the edge of the sword, until they had destroyed them, and they did not leave any that breathed.	14 El botín de esas ciudades, incluido el ganado, se lo repartieron los hijos de Israel. Pero pasaron a cuchillo a todas las personas hasta acabar con todas. No dejaron una sola con vida.
15 As the LORD had commanded Moses his servant, so Moses commanded Joshua, and so Joshua did; he left nothing undone of all that the LORD had commanded Moses.	15 Lo que el Señor había ordenado a su siervo Moisés, este se lo ordenó a Josué y Josué lo cumplió; no descuidó nada de cuanto el Señor había ordenado a Moisés.
16 So Joshua took all that land, the hill country and all the Negeb and all the land of Goshen and the lowland and the Arabah and the hill country of Israel and its lowland	16 Así fue como se apoderó Josué de todo el país: de la montaña, de todo el Negueb, de toda la región de Gosén, de la Sefelá y de la Arabá, de la montaña de Israel y de su llanura,
17 from Mount Halak, that rises toward Seir, as far as Baal-gad in the valley of Lebanon below Mount Hermon. And he took all their kings, and smote them, and put them to death.	17 desde el monte Jalac, hacia Seír, hasta Baalgad, en el valle del Líbano, al pie del monte Hermón. Se apoderó de todos sus reyes y los ajustició.
18 Joshua made war a long time with all those kings.	18 Largo tiempo estuvo Josué haciendo la guerra a todos aquellos reyes.
19 There was not a city that made peace with the people of Israel, except the Hivites, the inhabitants of Gibeon; they took all in battle.	19 Ninguna ciudad hizo las paces con los hijos de Israel, excepto los heveos que vivían en Gabaón: de todas las demás se apoderaron por la fuerza.
20 For it was the LORD's doing to harden their hearts that they should come against Israel in battle, in order that they should be utterly destroyed, and should receive no mercy but be exterminated, as the LORD commanded Moses.	20 Porque era designio del Señor endurecer su corazón para que se opusieran a Israel y así fueran consagradas al exterminio sin remisión y fueran exterminadas, como había mandado el Señor a Moisés.
21 And Joshua came at that time, and wiped out the Anakim from the hill country, from Hebron, from Debir, from Anab, and from all the hill country of Judah, and from all the hill country of Israel; Joshua utterly destroyed them with their cities.	21 Luego fue Josué y exterminó a los anaquitas de la Montaña, de Hebrón, Debir y Anab, de toda la montaña de Judá y de toda la montaña de Israel: los consagró al exterminio con sus ciudades.
22 There was none of the Anakim left in the land of the people of Israel; only in Gaza, in Gath, and in Ashdod, did some remain.	22 No quedó ni un anaquita en tierra de los hijos de Israel; solo quedaron en Gaza, Gad y Asdod.
23 So Joshua took the whole land, according to all that the LORD had spoken to Moses; and Joshua gave it for an inheritance to Israel according to their tribal allotments. And the land had rest from war.	23 Josué se apoderó de todo el país, como el Señor le había dicho a Moisés, y se lo dio en heredad a los hijos de Israel, repartido en los lotes correspondientes a cada tribu. Y, acabada la guerra, el país quedó en paz.
