Ephesians 4

1 I therefore, a prisoner for the Lord, beg you to lead a life worthy of the calling to which you have been called,	1 Kérlek tehát titeket, én, aki fogoly vagyok az Úrban, éljetek méltó módon ahhoz a hivatáshoz, amelyet kaptatok,
2 with all lowliness and meekness, with patience, forbearing one another in love,	2 teljes alázatosságban, szelídségben és türelemben. Viseljétek el egymást szeretettel.
3 eager to maintain the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace.	3 Igyekezzetek megtartani a lelki egységet a béke kötelékében.
4 There is one body and one Spirit, just as you were called to the one hope that belongs to your call,	4 Egy a test és egy a Lélek, amint hivatásotok is egy reménységre szól.
5 one Lord, one faith, one baptism,	5 Egy az Úr, egy a hit, egy a keresztség.
6 one God and Father of us all, who is above all and through all and in all.	6 Egy az Isten és mindeneknek Atyja, aki mindenek fölött áll, mindent áthat, és mindenben benne van.
7 But grace was given to each of us according to the measure of Christ's gift.	7 A kegyelmet azonban mindegyikünk Krisztus ajándékozásának mértéke szerint kapta.
8 Therefore it is said, "When he ascended on high he led a host of captives, and he gave gifts to men."	8 Ezért mondja az Írás: »Felment a magasba, foglyokat vitt magával, s ajándékokat adott az embereknek.«
9 (In saying, "He ascended," what does it mean but that he had also descended into the lower parts of the earth?	9 Az pedig, hogy »felment«, mi mást jelent, mint hogy le is szállt a föld alsó részeire?
10 He who descended is he who also ascended far above all the heavens, that he might fill all things.)	10 Aki leszállt, ugyanaz, mint aki felment, feljebb minden égnél, hogy betöltsön mindent.
11 And his gifts were that some should be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, some pastors and teachers,	11 Ő tett egyeseket apostollá, másokat pedig prófétává, másokat evangélistává, ismét másokat pedig pásztorrá és tanítóvá,
12 to equip the saints for the work of ministry, for building up the body of Christ,	12 hogy alkalmassá tegye a szenteket a szolgálat végzésére Krisztus testének felépítése céljából,
13 until we all attain to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to mature manhood, to the measure of the stature of the fulness of Christ;	13 amíg mindnyájan eljutunk a hitnek és Isten Fia megismerésének egységére, és azzá a tökéletes emberré leszünk, aki megvalósította Krisztus teljességét;
14 so that we may no longer be children, tossed to and fro and carried about with every wind of doctrine, by the cunning of men, by their craftiness in deceitful wiles.	14 hogy ne legyünk már ingatag gyermekek, és ne vessen minket ide-oda a tanítás bármely szélfúvása emberi megtévesztéssel és tévedésbe ejtő álnoksággal.
15 Rather, speaking the truth in love, we are to grow up in every way into him who is the head, into Christ,	15 Ellenkezőleg, járjunk az igazság szerint szeretetben, és mindenben nőjünk fel őhozzá, Krisztushoz, aki a fej.
16 from whom the whole body, joined and knit together by every joint with which it is supplied, when each part is working properly, makes bodily growth and upbuilds itself in love.	16 Általa az egész test, az összekötő ízek segítségével egybefogva és összetartva, minden egyes rész sajátos tevékenységével gondoskodik saját növekedéséről, hogy felépüljön a szeretetben.
17 Now this I affirm and testify in the Lord, that you must no longer live as the Gentiles do, in the futility of their minds;	17 Azt mondom tehát, és kérve kérlek titeket az Úrban, hogy most már ne éljetek úgy, ahogy a pogányok élnek, akik hiúságokon jártatják az eszüket.
18 they are darkened in their understanding, alienated from the life of God because of the ignorance that is in them, due to their hardness of heart;	18 Sötétség borult az értelmükre, az istenes élettől elidegenedtek a bennük levő tudatlanság miatt, amely szívük megátalkodottságának következménye.
19 they have become callous and have given themselves up to licentiousness, greedy to practice every kind of uncleanness.	19 Érzéketlenné váltak, átadták magukat a fajtalanságnak, és haszonlesésből mindenféle tisztátalan tettet elkövetnek.
20 You did not so learn Christ!--	20 Ti azonban nem így tanultátok Krisztustól,
21 assuming that you have heard about him and were taught in him, as the truth is in Jesus.	21 ha valóban őt hallottátok és róla kaptatok oktatást, annak az igazságnak megfelelően, amely Jézusban van:
22 Put off your old nature which belongs to your former manner of life and is corrupt through deceitful lusts,	22 vessétek le a korábbi életmód szerint való régi embert, aki romlásba rohan a megtévesztő kívánságok miatt;
23 and be renewed in the spirit of your minds,	23 újuljatok meg gondolkodástok szellemében,
24 and put on the new nature, created after the likeness of God in true righteousness and holiness.	24 és öltsétek magatokra az új embert, aki Isten képére teremtetett, valóban igaz és szent emberként.
25 Therefore, putting away falsehood, let every one speak the truth with his neighbor, for we are members one of another.	25 Éppen ezért szakítsatok a hazugsággal, és mindenki mondjon igazat felebarátjának , hiszen tagjai vagyunk egymásnak.
26 Be angry but do not sin; do not let the sun go down on your anger,	26 Ha haragszotok is, ne vétkezzetek ; a nap ne nyugodjék le haragotok fölött,
27 and give no opportunity to the devil.	27 és ne adjatok helyet az ördögnek.
28 Let the thief no longer steal, but rather let him labor, doing honest work with his hands, so that he may be able to give to those in need.	28 Aki lopott, többé ne lopjon, hanem inkább dolgozzék, és saját kezével szerezzen javakat, hogy legyen miből adnia a szűkölködőnek.
29 Let no evil talk come out of your mouths, but only such as is good for edifying, as fits the occasion, that it may impart grace to those who hear.	29 Semmiféle gonosz beszéd ne kerüljön ki szátokból, csak olyan, amely, ahol szükséges, alkalmas az építésre, hogy kegyelmet közöljön a hallgatókkal.
30 And do not grieve the Holy Spirit of God, in whom you were sealed for the day of redemption.	30 Ne szomorítsátok meg Isten Szentlelkét, aki által meg vagytok pecsételve a megváltás napjára.
31 Let all bitterness and wrath and anger and clamor and slander be put away from you, with all malice,	31 Minden keserűség és harag, indulat, szóváltás és szitkozódás legyen távol tőletek minden gonoszsággal együtt.
32 and be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you.	32 Egymás iránt legyetek inkább jóságosak, könyörületesek, bocsássatok meg egymásnak, ahogy Isten is megbocsátott nektek Krisztusban.
