Proverbs 22

1 A good name is to be chosen rather than great riches, and favor is better than silver or gold.	1 Доброе имя лучше большого богатства, и добрая слава лучше серебра и золота.
2 The rich and the poor meet together; the LORD is the maker of them all.	2 Богатый и бедный встречаются друг с другом: того и другого создал Господь.
3 A prudent man sees danger and hides himself; but the simple go on, and suffer for it.	3 Благоразумный видит беду, и укрывается; а неопытные идут вперед, и наказываются.
4 The reward for humility and fear of the LORD is riches and honor and life.	4 За смирением следует страх Господень, богатство и слава и жизнь.
5 Thorns and snares are in the way of the perverse; he who guards himself will keep far from them.	5 Терны и сети на пути коварного; кто бережет душу свою, удались от них.
6 Train up a child in the way he should go, and when he is old he will not depart from it.	6 Наставь юношу при начале пути его: он не уклонится от него, когда и состарится.
7 The rich rules over the poor, and the borrower is the slave of the lender.	7 Богатый господствует над бедным, и должник [делается] рабом заимодавца.
8 He who sows injustice will reap calamity, and the rod of his fury will fail.	8 Сеющий неправду пожнет беду, и трости гнева его не станет.
9 He who has a bountiful eye will be blessed, for he shares his bread with the poor.	9 Милосердый будет благословляем, потому что дает бедному от хлеба своего.
10 Drive out a scoffer, and strife will go out, and quarreling and abuse will cease.	10 Прогони кощунника, и удалится раздор, и прекратятся ссора и брань.
11 He who loves purity of heart, and whose speech is gracious, will have the king as his friend.	11 Кто любит чистоту сердца, у того приятность на устах, тому царь--друг.
12 The eyes of the LORD keep watch over knowledge, but he overthrows the words of the faithless.	12 Очи Господа охраняют знание, а слова законопреступника Он ниспровергает.
13 The sluggard says, "There is a lion outside! I shall be slain in the streets!"	13 Ленивец говорит: 'лев на улице! посреди площади убьют меня!'
14 The mouth of a loose woman is a deep pit; he with whom the LORD is angry will fall into it.	14 Глубокая пропасть--уста блудниц: на кого прогневается Господь, тот упадет туда.
15 Folly is bound up in the heart of a child, but the rod of discipline drives it far from him.	15 Глупость привязалась к сердцу юноши, но исправительная розга удалит ее от него.
16 He who oppresses the poor to increase his own wealth, or gives to the rich, will only come to want.	16 Кто обижает бедного, чтобы умножить свое богатство, и кто дает богатому, тот обеднеет.
17 Incline your ear, and hear the words of the wise, and apply your mind to my knowledge;	17 Приклони ухо твое, и слушай слова мудрых, и сердце твое обрати к моему знанию;
18 for it will be pleasant if you keep them within you, if all of them are ready on your lips.	18 потому что утешительно будет, если ты будешь хранить их в сердце твоем, и они будут также в устах твоих.
19 That your trust may be in the LORD, I have made them known to you today, even to you.	19 Чтобы упование твое было на Господа, я учу тебя и сегодня, и ты [помни].
20 Have I not written for you thirty sayings of admonition and knowledge,	20 Не писал ли я тебе трижды в советах и наставлении,
21 to show you what is right and true, that you may give a true answer to those who sent you?	21 чтобы научить тебя точным словам истины, дабы ты мог передавать слова истины посылающим тебя?
22 Do not rob the poor, because he is poor, or crush the afflicted at the gate;	22 Не будь грабителем бедного, потому что он беден, и не притесняй несчастного у ворот,
23 for the LORD will plead their cause and despoil of life those who despoil them.	23 потому что Господь вступится в дело их и исхитит душу у грабителей их.
24 Make no friendship with a man given to anger, nor go with a wrathful man,	24 Не дружись с гневливым и не сообщайся с человеком вспыльчивым,
25 lest you learn his ways and entangle yourself in a snare.	25 чтобы не научиться путям его и не навлечь петли на душу твою.
26 Be not one of those who give pledges, who become surety for debts.	26 Не будь из тех, которые дают руки и поручаются за долги:
27 If you have nothing with which to pay, why should your bed be taken from under you?	27 если тебе нечем заплатить, то для чего доводить себя, чтобы взяли постель твою из-под тебя?
28 Remove not the ancient landmark which your fathers have set.	28 Не передвигай межи давней, которую провели отцы твои.
29 Do you see a man skillful in his work? he will stand before kings; he will not stand before obscure men.	29 Видел ли ты человека проворного в своем деле? Он будет стоять перед царями, он не будет стоять перед простыми.
