Praise the LORD! For it is good to sing praises to our God; for he is gracious, and a song of praise is seemly.1 Alleluia, of Aggeus and Zacharias.
The LORD builds up Jerusalem; he gathers the outcasts of Israel.2 Praise the Lord, O my soul, in my life I will praise the Lord: I will sing to my God as long as I shall be. Put not your trust in princes:
He heals the brokenhearted, and binds up their wounds.3 in the children of men, in whom there is no salvation.
He determines the number of the stars, he gives to all of them their names.4 His spirit shall go forth, and he shall return into his earth: in that day all their thoughts shall perish.
Great is our LORD, and abundant in power; his understanding is beyond measure.5 Blessed is he who hath the God of Jacob for his helper, whose hope is in the Lord his God:
The LORD lifts up the downtrodden, he casts the wicked to the ground.6 who made heaven and earth, the sea, and all things that are in them.
Sing to the LORD with thanksgiving; make melody to our God upon the lyre!7 Who keepeth truth for ever: who executeth judgment for them that suffer wrong: who giveth food to the hungry. The Lord looseth them that are fettered:
He covers the heavens with clouds, he prepares rain for the earth, he makes grass grow upon the hills.8 the Lord enlighteneth the blind. The Lord lifteth up them that are cast down: the Lord loveth the just.
He gives to the beasts their food, and to the young ravens which cry.9 The Lord keepeth the strangers, he will support the fatherless and the widow: and the ways of sinners he will destroy.
His delight is not in the strength of the horse, nor his pleasure in the legs of a man;10 The Lord shall reign for ever: thy God, O Sion, unto generation and generation.
but the LORD takes pleasure in those who fear him, in those who hope in his steadfast love.
Praise the LORD, O Jerusalem! Praise your God, O Zion!
For he strengthens the bars of your gates; he blesses your sons within you.
He makes peace in your borders; he fills you with the finest of the wheat.
He sends forth his command to the earth; his word runs swiftly.
He gives snow like wool; he scatters hoarfrost like ashes.
He casts forth his ice like morsels; who can stand before his cold?
He sends forth his word, and melts them; he makes his wind blow, and the waters flow.
He declares his word to Jacob, his statutes and ordinances to Israel.
He has not dealt thus with any other nation; they do not know his ordinances. Praise the LORD!
