Nehemiah 11

1 Now the leaders of the people lived in Jerusalem; and the rest of the people cast lots to bring one out of ten to live in Jerusalem the holy city, while nine tenths remained in the other towns.	1 Les chefs du peuple s’installèrent à Jérusalem et le reste du peuple tira au sort pour qu’un homme sur dix vienne habiter à Jérusalem, la ville sainte; les neuf autres pourraient rester dans les villes de province.
2 And the people blessed all the men who willingly offered to live in Jerusalem.	2 Le peuple bénit tous les hommes qui avaient accepté d’habiter à Jérusalem.
3 These are the chiefs of the province who lived in Jerusalem; but in the towns of Judah every one lived on his property in their towns: Israel, the priests, the Levites, the temple servants, and the descendants of Solomon's servants.	3 Vient alors la liste des chefs de la province qui s’installèrent à Jérusalem. Dans les villes de Juda chacun habita dans sa ville et dans sa propriété: Israélites, prêtres, lévites, serviteurs ou fils des esclaves de Salomon.
4 And in Jerusalem lived certain of the sons of Judah and of the sons of Benjamin. Of the sons of Judah: Athaiah the son of Uzziah, son of Zechariah, son of Amariah, son of Shephatiah, son of Mahalalel, of the sons of Perez;	4 Des fils de Juda et des fils de Benjamin habitaient à Jérusalem: parmi les fils de Juda: Atayas, fils d’Ouziyas, fils de Zékaryas, fils d’Amarya, fils de Chefatyas, fils de Mahalaléel, des descendants de Pérès;
5 and Ma-aseiah the son of Baruch, son of Col-hozeh, son of Hazaiah, son of Adaiah, son of Joiarib, son of Zechariah, son of the Shilonite.	5 Maaséyas, fils de Barouk, fils de Kol-Hozé, fils de Hazayas, fils d’Adayas, fils de Yoyarib, fils de Zékaryas, descendant de Chéla.
6 All the sons of Perez who lived in Jerusalem were four hundred and sixty-eight valiant men.	6 Le total des descendants de Pérès fixés à Jérusalem était de 468 hommes bons pour la guerre.
7 And these are the sons of Benjamin: Sallu the son of Meshullam, son of Joed, son of Pedaiah, son of Kolaiah, son of Ma-aseiah, son of Ithi-el, son of Jeshaiah.	7 Voici les fils de Benjamin: Salou, fils de Méchoullam, fils de Yoëd, fils de Pédayas, fils de Kolayas, fils de Maaséyas, fils d’Itiel, fils de Yéchayas,

13 and his brethren, heads of fathers' houses, two hundred and forty-two; and Amashsai, the son of Azarel, son of Ahzai, son of Meshillemoth, son of Immer,	13 et ses frères, chefs de famille: 242; et Amasaï fils d’Azaréel, fils d’Achaï, fils de Méchillémot, fils d’Immer,
14 and their brethren, mighty men of valor, a hundred and twenty-eight; their overseer was Zabdiel the son of Haggedolim.	14 et ses frères, hommes vaillants: 128. Zabdiel fils de Hagadol, les commandait.
15 And of the Levites: Shemaiah the son of Hasshub, son of Azrikam, son of Hashabiah, son of Bunni;	15 Parmi les lévites: Chémayas fils de Hachchoub, fils d’Azrikam, fils de Hachabyas, fils de Bouni;
16 and Shabbethai and Jozabad, of the chiefs of the Levites, who were over the outside work of the house of God;	16 Chabtaï et Yozabad, chefs lévites, responsables des affaires extérieures du Temple de Dieu;
17 and Mattaniah the son of Mica, son of Zabdi, son of Asaph, who was the leader to begin the thanksgiving in prayer, and Bakbukiah, the second among his brethren; and Abda the son of Shammua, son of Galal, son of Jeduthun.	17 Mattanyas fils de Mika, fils de Zabdi, fils d’Asaf, qui dirigeait les hymnes et entonnait l’action de grâces pour la prière; Bakboukyas, le second parmi ses frères; Obadyas fils de Chammoua, fils de Galal, fils de Yédoutoun.

22 The overseer of the Levites in Jerusalem was Uzzi the son of Bani, son of Hashabiah, son of Mattaniah, son of Mica, of the sons of Asaph, the singers, over the work of the house of God.	22 Ouzi fils de Bani, fils de Hachabyas, fils de Mattanyas, fils de Mika, était chef des lévites de Jérusalem; il appartenait aux fils d’Asaf, les chantres chargés du service du Temple de Dieu.
23 For there was a command from the king concerning them, and a settled provision for the singers, as every day required.	23 Une instruction royale et un règlement fixaient le rôle des chantres, jour après jour.

35 Lod, and Ono, the valley of craftsmen.	35 à Lod et à Ono, ainsi que dans le val des artisans.
36 And certain divisions of the Levites in Judah were joined to Benjamin.	36 Des groupes de lévites se trouvaient aussi bien en Juda qu’en Benjamin.
