1 David and the chiefs of the service also set apart for the service certain of the sons of Asaph, and of Heman, and of Jeduthun, who should prophesy with lyres, with harps, and with cymbals. 2 Of the sons of Asaph: Zaccur, Joseph, Nethaniah, and Asharelah, sons of Asaph, under the direction of Asaph, who prophesied under the direction of the king.	2 Ászáf fiai közül: Szakkur, József, Natanja és Aszáréla, Ászáf fiai, Ászáf vezetése alatt, aki a király utasítása szerint prófétált.

5 All these were the sons of Heman the king's seer, according to the promise of God to exalt him; for God had given Heman fourteen sons and three daughters.	5 ezek mind Hemánnak, a király látnokának voltak a fiai, Isten azon szavai folytán, hogy növeli hatalmát: tizennégy fiút és három leányt adott ugyanis az Isten Hemánnak. –
6 They were all under the direction of their father in the music in the house of the LORD with cymbals, harps, and lyres for the service of the house of God. Asaph, Jeduthun, and Heman were under the order of the king.	6 Mindezeknek az volt a tisztük, hogy énekeljenek az Úr házában cintányér, hárfa- és lantkísérettel, az Úr házának szolgálatára, a király utasításai szerint atyjuk, tudniillik Ászáf, Iditun és Hemán vezetése alatt.
7 The number of them along with their brethren, who were trained in singing to the LORD, all who were skilful, was two hundred and eighty-eight.	7 Szám szerint azokkal a testvéreikkel együtt, akik az Úr énekét tanították – vagyis a mesterek összesen – kétszáznyolcvannyolcan voltak.
8 And they cast lots for their duties, small and great, teacher and pupil alike.	8 Szolgálati rendjükre sorsot vetettek, az idősebbekre éppúgy, mint a fiatalabbakra, a tanultakra és tanulatlanokra egyaránt.
