1 Then the LORD said to Noah, "Go into the ark, you and all your household, for I have seen that you are righteous before me in this generation.	1 Le Seigneur dit ensuite à Noé: Entrez dans l'arche, vous et toute votre maison; parce qu'entre tous ceux qui vivent aujourd'hui sur la terre J'ai reconnu que vous étiez justes devant Moi.
2 Take with you seven pairs of all clean animals, the male and his mate; and a pair of the animals that are not clean, the male and his mate;	2 Prenez sept par sept de tous les animaux purs, le mâle et sa femelle, et un couple d'animaux impurs, un mâle et une femelle.
3 and seven pairs of the birds of the air also, male and female, to keep their kind alive upon the face of all the earth.	3 Prenez aussi sept par sept des oiseaux du ciel, un mâle et sa femelle; afin d'en conserver la race sur la face de toute la terre.
4 For in seven days I will send rain upon the earth forty days and forty nights; and every living thing that I have made I will blot out from the face of the ground."	4 Car Je n'attendrai plus que sept jours, et après cela Je ferai pleuvoir sur la terre quarante jours et quarante nuits, et J'exterminerai de dessus la terre toutes les créatures que J'ai faites.
5 And Noah did all that the LORD had commanded him.	5 Noé fit donc tout ce que le Seigneur lui avait commandé.
6 Noah was six hundred years old when the flood of waters came upon the earth.	6 Il avait six cents ans lorsque les eaux du déluge inondèrent toute la terre.
7 And Noah and his sons and his wife and his sons' wives with him went into the ark, to escape the waters of the flood.	7 Noé entra dans l'arche, et avec lui ses fils, sa femme, et les femmes de ses fils, pour se sauver des eaux du déluge.
8 Of clean animals, and of animals that are not clean, and of birds, and of everything that creeps on the ground,	8 Les animaux purs et impurs, et les oiseaux avec tout ce qui se meut sur la terre,
9 two and two, male and female, went into the ark with Noah, as God had commanded Noah.	9 Entrèrent aussi dans l'arche avec Noé, deux à deux, mâle et femelle, selon que le Seigneur l'avait commandé à Noé.
10 And after seven days the waters of the flood came upon the earth.	10 Après donc que les sept jours furent passés, les eaux du déluge se répandirent sur la terre.
11 In the six hundredth year of Noah's life, in the second month, on the seventeenth day of the month, on that day all the fountains of the great deep burst forth, and the windows of the heavens were opened.	11 L'année six cent de la vie de Noé, le dix-septième jour du second mois, toutes les sources du grand abîme des eaux furent rompues, et les cataractes du ciel furent ouvertes;
12 And rain fell upon the earth forty days and forty nights.	12 Et la pluie tomba sur la terre pendant quarante jours et quarante nuits.
13 On the very same day Noah and his sons, Shem and Ham and Japheth, and Noah's wife and the three wives of his sons with them entered the ark,	13 Aussitôt que ce jour parut, Noé entra dans l'arche avec ses fils, Sem, Cham et Japheth, sa femme, et les trois femmes de ses fils.
14 they and every beast according to its kind, and all the cattle according to their kinds, and every creeping thing that creeps on the earth according to its kind, and every bird according to its kind, every bird of every sort.	14 Tous les animaux sauvages selon leur espèce y entrèrent aussi avec eux, tous les animaux domestiques selon leur espèce; tout ce qui se meut sur la terre selon son espèce; tout ce qui vole chacun selon son espèce; tous les oiseaux et tout ce qui s'élève dans l'air;
15 They went into the ark with Noah, two and two of all flesh in which there was the breath of life.	15 Tous ces animaux entrèrent avec Noé dans l'arche deux à deux, mâle et femelle de toute chair vivante et animée.
16 And they that entered, male and female of all flesh, went in as God had commanded him; and the LORD shut him in.	16 Ceux qui y entrèrent étaient donc mâles et femelles et de toute espèce, selon que Dieu l'avait commandé à Noé; et le Seigneur l'y enferma par dehors.
17 The flood continued forty days upon the earth; and the waters increased, and bore up the ark, and it rose high above the earth.	17 Le déluge se répandit sur la terre pendant quarante jours, et les eaux, s'étant accrues, élevèrent l'arche en haut au-dessus de la terre.
18 The waters prevailed and increased greatly upon the earth; and the ark floated on the face of the waters.	18 Elles inondèrent tout, et couvrirent toute la surface de la terre; mais l'arche était portée sur les eaux.
19 And the waters prevailed so mightily upon the earth that all the high mountains under the whole heaven were covered;	19 Et les eaux crûrent et grossirent prodigieusement au-dessus de la terre, et toutes les plus hautes montagnes qui sont sous le ciel entier furent couvertes.
20 the waters prevailed above the mountains, covering them fifteen cubits deep.	20 L'eau dépassa encore de quinze coudées le sommet des montagnes qu'elle avait couvertes.
21 And all flesh died that moved upon the earth, birds, cattle, beasts, all swarming creatures that swarm upon the earth, and every man;	21 Toute chair qui se meut sur la terre en fut consumée, tous les oiseaux, tous les animaux, toutes les bêtes, et tout ce qui rampe sur la terre.
22 everything on the dry land in whose nostrils was the breath of life died.	22 Tous les hommes moururent, et généralement tout ce qui a vie et qui respirent sous le ciel.
23 He blotted out every living thing that was upon the face of the ground, man and animals and creeping things and birds of the air; they were blotted out from the earth. Only Noah was left, and those that were with him in the ark.	23 Toutes les créatures qui étaient sur la terre, depuis l'homme jusqu'aux bêtes, tant celles qui rampent que celles qui volent dans l'air, tout périt: il ne demeura que Noé seul, et ceux qui étaient avec lui dans l'arche.
24 And the waters prevailed upon the earth a hundred and fifty days.	24 Et les eaux couvrirent toute la terre pendant cent cinquante jours.
