Philippians 2

1 Therefore, if there is any consolation in Christ, any solace of charity, any fellowship of the Spirit, any feelings of commiseration:	1 Geht es nun um eine Mahnung in Christus, um einen Zuspruch der Liebe, um Gemeinschaft des Geistes, um Mitgefühl und Erbarmen,
2 complete my joy by having the same understanding, holding to the same charity, being of one mind, with the same sentiment.	2 macht meine Freude dadurch voll, daß ihr gleichen Sinnes seid, die gleiche Liebe habt, aus gleichgestimmter Seele auf das Eine bedacht seid,
3 Let nothing be done by contention, nor in vain glory. Instead, in humility, let each of you esteem others to be better than himself.	3 in keiner Weise aus Eigensucht oder eitlem Begehr; in Demut achte vielmehr der eine den andern höher als sich selbst,
4 Let each of you not consider anything to be your own, but rather to belong to others.	4 und nicht auf das Seine nur blicke ein jeder, sondern auch auf das der andern.
5 For this understanding in you was also in Christ Jesus:	5 Auf das seid bedacht unter euch, was auch an Christus Jesus (ihr seht):
6 who, though he was in the form of God, did not consider equality with God something to be seized.	6 Er war in Gottesgestalt, doch nicht zu eigenem Gewinn erachtete er das Gleichsein mit Gott,
7 Instead, he emptied himself, taking the form of a servant, being made in the likeness of men, and accepting the state of a man.	7 sondern entsagte seiner selbst, nahm Knechtsgestalt an, wurde Menschen gleich und im Äußern erfunden wie ein Mensch;
8 He humbled himself, becoming obedient even unto death, even the death of the Cross.	8 er erniedrigte sich selbst und wurde gehorsam bis in den Tod, den Tod am Kreuze.
9 Because of this, God has also exalted him and has given him a name which is above every name,	9 Und darum erhöhte ihn Gott so hoch und verlieh ihm den Namen, überragend jeden Namen,
10 so that, at the name of Jesus, every knee would bend, of those in heaven, of those on earth, and of those in hell,	10 auf daß beim Namen Jesu "sich beuge jedes Knie", derer im Himmel, derer auf Erden und derer unter der Erde,
11 and so that every tongue would confess that the Lord Jesus Christ is in the glory of God the Father.	11 und "jede Zunge bekenne" (Is 45,23): "Herr ist Jesus Christus", zur Verherrlichung Gottes, des Vaters.
12 And so, my most beloved, just as you have always obeyed, not only in my presence, but even more so now in my absence: work toward your salvation with fear and trembling.	12 Wirkt also, meine Geliebten, gehorsam, wie ihr allezeit wart, nicht nur in meiner Anwesenheit, sondern jetzt erst recht in meiner Abwesenheit, wirkt euer Heil mit Furcht und Zittern!
13 For it is God who works in you, both so as to choose, and so as to act, in accord with his good will.	13 Denn Gott ist es, der in euch das Wollen bewirkt und über das gute Wollen hinaus auch das Vollbringen.
14 And do everything without murmuring or hesitation.	14 Tut alles ohne Murren und Widerstreben,
15 So may you be without blame, simple sons of God, without reproof, in the midst of a depraved and perverse nation, among whom you shine like lights in the world,	15 daß ihr ohne Tadel und Makel seid, Gotteskinder ohne Schuld und Fehl inmitten "eines bösen und verkehrten Geschlechtes" (5Mos 32,5), unter denen ihr leuchtet wie Sterne im Weltall.
16 holding to the Word of Life, until my glory in the day of Christ. For I have not run in vain, nor have I labored in vain.	16 Haltet fest am Wort des Lebens, mir zum Ruhm am Tag Christi, daß ich nicht ins Leere gelaufen bin und nicht vergeblich mich abgemüht habe.
17 Moreover, if I am to be immolated because of the sacrifice and service of your faith, I rejoice and give thanks with all of you.	17 Aber sollte ich auch hingeopfert werden am Opferaltar und beim heiligen Dienst für euren Glauben, so bin ich doch froh und freue mich mit euch allen.
18 And over this same thing, you also should rejoice and give thanks, together with me.	18 So sollt auch ihr froh sein und euch freuen mit mir.
19 Now I hope in the Lord Jesus to send Timothy to you soon, in order that I may be encouraged, when I know the things concerning you.	19 Ich hoffe aber im Herrn Jesus, daß ich Timotheus bald zu euch senden kann, damit auch ich guten Mutes werde, wenn ich erfahre, wie es um euch steht.
20 For I have no one else with such an agreeable mind, who, with sincere affection, is solicitous for you.	20 Denn ich habe keinen von gleicher Gesinnung, der sich mit so herzlicher Teilnahme um eure Anliegen kümmert.
21 For they all seek the things that are of themselves, not the things that are of Jesus Christ.	21 Es suchen ja alle das Ihre, nicht die Sache Christi Jesu.
22 So know this evidence of him: that like a son with a father, so has he served with me in the Gospel.	22 Seine bewährte Treue aber kennt ihr; denn wie ein Kind dem Vater diente er mit mir für das Evangelium.
23 Therefore, I hope to send him to you immediately, as soon as I see what will happen concerning me.	23 Ihn also hoffe ich [zu euch] zu senden, sobald ich sehe, wie es mir geht.
24 But I trust in the Lord that I myself will also return to you soon.	24 Ich habe jedoch Zuversicht im Herrn, auch selber bald zu kommen.
25 Now I have considered it necessary to send to you Epaphroditus, my brother, and co-worker, and fellow soldier, and an attendant to my needs, but your Apostle.	25 Ich hielt es aber für nötig, Epaphroditus, meinen Bruder, Mitarbeiter und Mitkämpfer, euren Abgesandten und Beauftragten für meine Bedürfnisse, zu euch zu senden;
26 For certainly, he has desired all of you, and he was saddened because you had heard that he was sick.	26 denn er sehnte sich nach euch allen und war bekümmert darüber, weil ihr gehört habt von seiner Erkrankung.
27 For he was sick, even unto death, but God took pity on him, and not only on him, but truly on myself also, so that I would not have sorrow upon sorrow.	27 Er war auch wirklich krank und dem Tode nahe; aber Gott erbarmte sich seiner, und nicht nur seiner, sondern auch meiner, damit ich nicht Betrübnis über Betrübnis erfahre.
28 Therefore, I sent him more readily, in order that, by seeing him again, you may rejoice, and I may be without sorrow.	28 Um so eiliger sende ich ihn nun, damit ihr bei seinem Wiedersehen euch freut und auch ich weniger an Sorgen habe.
29 And so, receive him with every joy in the Lord, and treat all those like him with honor.	29 So nehmt ihn denn auf im Herrn mit aller Freude, und haltet solche Männer in Ehren;
30 For he was brought close even to death, for the sake of the work of Christ, handing over his own life, so that he might fulfill what was lacking from you concerning my service.	30 denn im Wirken für Christus kam er dem Tode nahe, da er sein Leben einsetzte, um das zu ergänzen, was euch im Dienste für mich nicht möglich war.
