1 Corinthians 11

1 Be imitators of me, as I also am of Christ.	1 Soyez mes imitateurs, comme je le suis moi-même du Christ.
2 Now I praise you, brothers, because you are mindful of me in everything, in such a way as to hold to my precepts as I have handed them down to you.	2 Je vous loue, frères, de ce que vous vous souvenez de moi en toutes choses, et que vous gardez mes préceptes tels que je vous les ai transmis.
3 So I want you to know that the head of every man is Christ. But the head of woman is man. Yet truly, the head of Christ is God.	3 Mais je veux que vous sachiez que le Christ est le chef de tout homme, que l'homme est le chef de la femme, et que Dieu est le chef du Christ.
4 Every man praying or prophesying with his head covered disgraces his head.	4 Tout homme qui prie, ou qui prophétise, ayant la tête couverte, déshonore sa tête.
5 But every woman praying or prophesying with her head not covered disgraces her head. For it is the same as if her head were shaven.	5 Mais toute femme qui prie, ou qui prophétise, sans avoir la tête voilée, déshonore sa tête ; car c'est comme si elle était rasée.
6 So if a woman is not veiled, let her hair be cut off. Truly then, if it is a disgrace for a woman to have her hair cut off, or to have her head shaven, then she should cover her head.	6 Car si une femme n'est pas voilée, qu'elle se coupe les cheveux. Mais s'il est honteux pour une femme d'avoir les cheveux coupés ou rasés, qu'elle se voile la tête.
7 Certainly, a man ought not to cover his head, for he is the image and glory of God. But woman is the glory of man.	7 L'homme ne doit pas se voiler la tête, parce qu'il est l'image et la gloire de Dieu ; mais la femme est la gloire de l'homme.
8 For man is not of woman, but woman is of man.	8 Car l'homme n'a pas été tiré de la femme, mais la femme a été tirée de l'homme ;
9 And indeed, man was not created for woman, but woman was created for man.	9 et l'homme n'a pas été créé pour la femme, mais la femme pour l'homme.
10 Therefore, a woman ought to have a sign of authority on her head, because of the Angels.	10 C'est pourquoi la femme, à cause des anges, doit avoir sur sa tête la marque de la puissance de l'homme (une puissance).
11 Yet truly, man would not exist without woman, nor would woman exist without man, in the Lord.	11 Toutefois, l'homme n'est pas sans la femme, ni la femme sans l'homme, dans le Seigneur.
12 For just as woman came into existence from man, so also does man exist through woman. But all things are from God.	12 Car de même que la femme a été tirée de l'homme, ainsi l'homme existe par la femme, et tout vient de Dieu.
13 Judge for yourselves. Is it proper for a woman to pray to God unveiled?	13 Jugez-en vous-mêmes : est-il convenable qu'une femme prie Dieu sans être voilée ?
14 Does not even nature herself teach you that, indeed, if a man grows his hair long, it is a disgrace for him?	14 et la nature même ne vous enseigne-t-elle pas que c'est une honte pour un homme de laisser croître ses cheveux,
15 Yet truly, if a woman grows her hair long, it is a glory for her, because her hair has been given to her as a covering.	15 mais que si la femme les laisse croître, c'est une gloire pour elle, parce que les cheveux lui ont été donnés en guise de voile ?
16 But if anyone has a mind to be contentious, we have no such custom, nor does the Church of God.	16 Si quelqu'un se plaît à contester, nous n'avons pas cette habitude, et l'Eglise de Dieu non plus.
17 Now I caution you, without praising, about this: that you assemble together, and not for better, but for worse.	17 Je vais vous dire maintenant une chose dont je ne vous loue pas : c'est que vous vous assemblez, non pour devenir meilleurs, mais à votre préjudice.
18 First of all, indeed, I hear that when you assemble together in the church, there are schisms among you. And I believe this, in part.	18 Et d'abord, j'entends dire que, lorsque vous vous réunissez en assemblée, il y a des divisions parmi vous, et je le crois en partie ;
19 For there must also be heresies, so that those who have been tested may be made manifest among you.	19 car il faut qu'il y ait même des hérésies, afin que ceux d'entre vous qui ont une vertu éprouvée soient reconnus.
20 And so, when you assemble together as one, it is no longer in order to eat the Lord’s supper.	20 Lors donc que vous vous assemblez, ce n'est plus manger la cène du Seigneur ;
21 For each one first takes his own supper to eat. And as a result, one person is hungry, while another is inebriated.	21 car chacun commence par prendre son propre repas ; et ainsi l'un souffre de la faim, et l'autre mange avec excès.
22 Do you not have houses, in which to eat and drink? Or do you have such contempt for the Church of God that you would confound those who do not have such contempt? What should I say to you? Should I praise you? I am not praising you in this.	22 N'avez-vous pas des maisons pour manger et pour boire ? ou méprisez-vous l'Eglise de Dieu, et faites-vous honte à ceux qui n'ont rien ? Que vous dirai-je ? Vous louerai-je ? En cela (Non), je ne vous (en) loue point.line C'est pourquoi quiconque mangera ce pain ou boira le calice du Seigneur indignement, sera coupable envers le corps et le sang du Seigneur.
23 For I have received from the Lord what I have also delivered to you: that the Lord Jesus, on the same night that he was handed over, took bread,	23 Car j'ai appris du Seigneur ce que je vous ai moi-même transmis : que le Seigneur Jésus, la nuit où il était livré, prit du pain,
24 and giving thanks, he broke it, and said: “Take and eat. This is my body, which shall be given up for you. Do this in remembrance of me.”	24 et après avoir rendu grâces, le rompit, et dit : Prenez et mangez ; ceci est mon corps, qui sera livré pour vous ; faites ceci en mémoire de moi.
25 Similarly also, the cup, after he had eaten supper, saying: “This cup is the new covenant in my blood. Do this, as often as you drink it, in remembrance of me.”	25 Il prit de même le calice après avoir soupé, en disant : Ce calice est la nouvelle alliance en mon sang ; faites ceci en mémoire de moi, toutes les fois que vous en boirez.
26 For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the death of the Lord, until he returns.	26 Car toutes les fois que vous mangerez ce pain, et que vous boirez ce calice, vous annoncerez la mort du Seigneur, jusqu'à ce qu'il vienne.
27 And so, whoever eats this bread, or drinks from the cup of the Lord, unworthily, shall be liable of the body and blood of the Lord.	27 C'est pourquoi quiconque mangera ce pain ou boira le calice du Seigneur indignement, sera coupable envers le corps et le sang du Seigneur.
28 But let a man examine himself, and, in this way, let him eat from that bread, and drink from that cup.	28 Que l'homme s'éprouve donc lui-même, et qu'ainsi il mange de ce pain et boive de ce calice.
29 For whoever eats and drinks unworthily, eats and drinks a sentence against himself, not discerning it to be the body of the Lord.	29 Car celui qui mange et boit indignement, mange et boit sa condamnation, ne discernant pas le corps du Seigneur.
30 As a result, many are weak and sick among you, and many have fallen asleep.	30 C'est pour cela qu'il y a parmi vous beaucoup de malades (d'infirmes) et de languissants, et que beaucoup sont morts.
31 But if we ourselves were discerning, then certainly we would not be judged.	31 Si nous nous jugions nous-mêmes, nous ne serions (certainement) pas jugés.
32 Yet when we are judged, we are being corrected by the Lord, so that we might not be condemned along with this world.	32 Mais lorsque nous sommes jugés, c'est le Seigneur qui nous châtie, afin que nous ne soyons pas condamnés avec ce monde.
33 And so, my brothers, when you assemble together to eat, be attentive to one another.	33 C'est pourquoi, mes frères, lorsque vous vous assemblez pour manger, attendez-vous les uns les autres.
34 If anyone is hungry, let him eat at home, so that you may not assemble together unto judgment. As for the rest, I will set it in order when I arrive.	34 Si quelqu'un a faim, qu'il mange chez lui, afin que vous ne vous assembliez pas pour votre condamnation. Je réglerai le reste après mon arrivée.
