1 “The sin of Judah has been written with a pen of iron and a point of diamond. It has been engraved upon the breadth of their heart and upon the horns of their shrines.	1 Il peccato di Giuda è scritto con uno stilo di ferro, con una punta di diamante è scolpito sulla tavola del loro cuore e sui corni dei loro altari,
2 And their sons make a remembrance of their shrines, and their sacred groves, and their leafy trees on high mountains,	2 affinché i loro figli si ricordino dei loro altari e dei loro pali sacri presso gli alberi frondosi, sopra i colli elevati.
3 by sacrificing in the field. And so, I will give over your strength and all your treasures to be despoiled, along with your exalted places of sin, within all your borders.	3 «Mio monte nella pianura, i tuoi averi e tutti i tesori farò depredare, quale bottino a compenso di tutti i peccati che hai commesso in tutti i tuoi territori.
4 And you will be left behind without your inheritance, which I gave to you. And I will cause you to serve your enemies in a land that you do not know. For you have kindled a fire in my fury; it shall burn, even unto eternity.”	4 Tu dovrai ritirare la mano dalla eredità che ti ho dato; ti farò servire i tuoi nemici in una terra che non conosci, perché si è accesa la mia ira ardente, che arderà per sempre.
5 Thus says the Lord: “Cursed is a man who trusts in man, and who establishes what is flesh as his right arm, and whose heart withdraws from the Lord.	5 Maledetto l’uomo che confida nell'uomo, fa della carne il suo braccio e il cui cuore si allontana da Jahvè.
6 For he will be like a saltcedar tree in the desert. And he will not perceive it, when what is good has arrived. Instead, he will live in dryness, in a desert, in a land of salt, which is uninhabitable.	6 Egli è come una tamerice nella steppa, quando viene il bene non lo vede; dimora in luoghi aridi nel deserto, in una terra di salsuggine, non abitabile.
7 Blessed is the man who trusts in the Lord, for the Lord will be his confidence.	7 Benedetto l’uomo che confida in Jahvè e di cui Jahvè è la fiducia.
8 And he will be like a tree planted beside waters, which sends out its roots to moist soil. And it will not fear when the heat arrives. And its leaves will be green. And in the time of drought, it will not be anxious, nor will it cease at any time to bear fruit.	8 Egli è come un albero piantato lungo l’acqua, verso il fosso stende le radici; non teme quando viene il caldo, le sue foglie rimangono verdi; nell’anno della siccità non intristisce, non smette di produrre frutti.
9 The heart is depraved above all things, and it is unsearchable, who can know it?	9 Ingannevole più di ogni altra cosa è il cuore ed è inguaribile; chi lo può conoscere?
10 I am the Lord, who examines the heart and tests the temperament, who gives to each one according to his way and according to the fruit of his own decisions.	10 Io sono Jahvè che scruto i cuori e provo i reni, per retribuire l’uomo secondo la sua condotta, secondo il frutto delle sue azioni.
11 A partridge has hatched eggs that she did not lay; a man has gathered riches, but without judgment. In the midst of his days, he will leave it all behind, and he will be foolish concerning his very end.”	11 Una pernice che cova uova non deposte da lei è l'uomo che accumula ricchezze, ma senza giustizia. A metà dei giorni egli dovrà lasciarle e alla sua fine apparirà uno stolto».
12 “A high and glorious throne is the place of our sanctification from the beginning.	12 Trono di gloria, eccelso fin dal principio, è il luogo del nostro santuario!
13 O Lord, Hope of Israel: all who forsake you will be confounded. Those who withdraw from you will be written into the earth. For they have abandoned the Lord, the Source of living waters.	13 Speranza di Israele, Jahvè: quanti ti abbandonano resteranno confusi; quanti si allontanano da te saranno scritti sulla polvere, perché hanno abbandonato la fonte di acqua viva.
14 Heal me, O Lord, and I will be healed. Save me, and I will be saved. For you are my praise.	14 Guariscimi, Jahvè, e io sarò guarito, salvami e io sarò salvo, poiché tu sei il mio vanto.
15 Behold, they themselves are saying to me: ‘Where is the word of the Lord? Let it come.’	15 Ecco, quelli mi dicono: «Dov'è la parola di Jahvè? Si realizzi dunque!»
16 But I am not troubled; I am following you as my shepherd. And I have not desired the day of man, as you know. That which has gone forth from my lips has been right in your sight.	16 Io non ho insistito presso di te per la sventura e non ho desiderato il giorno funesto. Tu lo sai. Ciò che è uscito dalla mia bocca giunse fino alla tua presenza.
17 May you not be a dread to me. You are my hope in the day of affliction.	17 Non diventare per me oggetto di spavento, tu sei il mio rifugio nel giorno della sventura.
18 May those who persecute me be confounded, but may I not be confounded. May they be fearful, and may I not be fearful. Lead over them the day of affliction, and crush them with a double destruction.”	18 Siano confusi i miei persecutori ma non io; siano spaventati ma non io. Fa’ venire su di loro il giorno della sventura e distruggili con una doppia distruzione.
19 Thus says the Lord to me: “Go, and stand at the gate of the sons of the people, through which the kings of Judah enter and depart, and at all the gates of Jerusalem.	19 Così mi disse Jahvè: «Va’ a metterti alla porta dei Figli del popolo attraverso la quale entrano ed escono i re di Giuda, e a tutte le porte di Gerusalemme.
20 And you shall say to them: Listen to the word of the Lord, O kings of Judah, and all of Judah, and all the inhabitants of Jerusalem, who enter through these gates.”	20 Di’ loro: “Ascoltate la parola di Jahvè, o re di Giuda e tutto Giuda e voi tutti, abitanti di Gerusalemme, che entrate attraverso queste porte”.
21 Thus says the Lord: “Guard your souls, and do not choose to carry heavy things on the day of the Sabbath, nor should you carry these things through the gates of Jerusalem.	21 Così dice Jahvè: “Per amore della vostra vita guardatevi dal trasportare un peso in giorno di sabato e dall’introdurlo attraverso le porte di Gerusalemme.
22 And do not be willing to cast burdens out of your houses on the day of the Sabbath, nor should you do any work. Sanctify the day of the Sabbath, just as I instructed your fathers.	22 Non portate un peso fuori dalle vostre case in giorno di sabato e non fate un lavoro, ma santificate piuttosto il giorno di sabato, come io comandai ai vostri padri.
23 But they did not listen, nor did they incline their ear. Instead, they hardened their neck, lest they listen to me and receive discipline.	23 Ma essi non vollero ascoltare né prestarono orecchio, anzi irrigidirono la loro cervice per non ascoltarmi e per non ricevere la lezione.
24 And this shall be: If you listen to me, says the Lord, so that you do not carry in burdens through the gates of this city on the day of the Sabbath, and if you sanctify the day of the Sabbath, so that you do not do work in it,	24 Allora, se mi ascolterete sul serio — oracolo di Jahvè — se non introdurrete nessun peso entro le porte di questa città in giorno di sabato e santificherete il giorno di sabato non facendo durante esso alcun lavoro,
25 then there will enter through the gates of this city: kings and princes, sitting on the throne of David, and riding on chariots and horses, they and their princes, the men of Judah and the inhabitants of Jerusalem. And this city will be inhabited forever.	25 entreranno per le porte di questa città i re, che sederanno sul trono di David, montati su cocchi e su cavalli, essi e i loro capi, gli uomini di Giuda e gli abitanti di Gerusalemme. Questa città sarà abitata in eterno.
26 And they will arrive from the cities of Judah and from all around Jerusalem, and from the land of Benjamin, and from the plains, and from the mountainous regions, and from the south, carrying holocausts, and victims, and sacrifices, and frankincense. And they will carry an oblation into the house of the Lord.	26 Dalle città di Giuda e dai dintorni di Gerusalemme, dalla terra di Beniamin e dalla Shefela, dai monti e dal sud verranno portando olocausti, sacrifici, offerte e incenso e offriranno sacrifici di lode nel tempio di Jahvè.
27 But if you will not listen to me, to sanctify the day of the Sabbath, and not to carry burdens, and not to bring these things through the gates of Jerusalem on the day of the Sabbath, then I will kindle a fire at its gates, and it will devour the houses of Jerusalem, and it will not be extinguished.”	27 Ma se non ascolterete il mio comando di santificare il giorno di sabato, di non trasportare pesi e di non introdurli entro le porte di Gerusalemme in giorno di sabato, io accenderò un fuoco presso le sue porte; esso divorerà i palazzi di Gerusalemme e non si estinguerà”».
