Proverbs 12

1 Whoever loves discipline loves knowledge. But whoever hates correction is unwise.	1 Chi ama la disciplina, ama la scienza; ma chi odia la correzione e un insensato.
2 Whoever is good shall draw grace from the Lord. But whoever trusts in his own thoughts acts impiously.	2 L'uomo dabbene si caparrerà la grazia del Signore; ma chi si confida nelle sue invenzioni opera da empio.
3 Man will not be made strong from impiety. And the root of the just shall not be moved.	3 Non acquisterà fermezza l'uomo per mezzo della empietà; ma sarà immobile, la radice de' giusti.
4 A diligent woman is a crown to her husband. And she who acts with confusion as to which things are worthy is decay to his bones.	4 La valorosa donna è la corona di suo marito: quella che fa azioni obbrobriose è un tarlo nelle ossa di lui.
5 The thoughts of the just are judgments. And the counsels of the impious are dishonest.	5 I pensieri de' giusti sono giustizia: i consiglj degli empj son fraude.
6 The words of the impious lie in wait for blood. The mouth of the just shall free them.	6 Le parole degli empj sono insidie tese alla vita degli altri: ma a questi porterà salute la bocca de' giusti,
7 Turn from the impious, and they will not be. But the house of the just shall stand firm.	7 Volgi in giro gli empj, ed ei più non saranno; ma stabile sarà la casa del giusto.
8 A man will be known by his doctrine. But whoever is vain and heartless will suffer contempt.	8 Colla sua dottrina si farà conoscere l'uomo; ma colui che è vano, e privo di cuore, sarà esposto agli spregj.
9 Better is a pauper who has what he needs, than someone glorious and in need of bread.	9 Più stimabile o il povero, che basta a se stesso; che un vanaglorioso a cui manca il pane.
10 The just one knows the lives of his beasts. But the inner most parts of the impious are cruel.	10 Il giusto ha cura della vita delle sue bestie; ma le viscere degli empj sono crudeli.
11 Whoever works his land shall be satisfied with bread. But whoever continually pursues leisure is most foolish. Whoever is soothed by lingering over wine leaves behind contempt in his strongholds.	11 Colui che lavora la sua terra, avrà pane da saziarsi; ma chi ama l'ozio, è più che stolto. Chi trova piacere a star dove si sbevazza, lascia vituperi nella ben piantata sua casa.
12 The desire of the impious is the fortification of what is most wicked. But the root of the just shall prosper.	12 Il desiderio degli empj si è, che si faccian forti i peggiori: ma la radice de' giusti germoglierà.
13 For the sins of the lips draw ruin to the evil. But the just shall escape from distress.	13 Co' peccati della lingua si tira addosso la rovina il malvaggio: ma il giusto fuggirà dalle angustie.
14 By the fruit of his own mouth, each one shall be filled with good things, and according to the works of his own hands, it will be distributed to him.	14 L'uomo in virtù de' frutti della sua bocca sarà ricolmo di beni: e avrà, guiderdone secondo le opere delle sue mani.
15 The way of the foolish is right in his own eyes. But whoever is wise listens to counsels.	15 La via dello stolto è diritta negli occhi di lui: ma colui, che è saggio, da retta ai consigli.
16 The senseless immediately reveals his anger. But whoever ignores injuries is clever.	16 Lo stolto da tosto fuora il suo sdegno; ma chi dissimula l'ingiuria, è uom circospetto.
17 He is a sign of justice, who speaks what he knows. But whoever deceives is a dishonest witness.	17 Colui che afferma quello, ch'ei sa, da segni di annunziare il giusto: colui che mentisce, attesta la propria fraude.
18 He who makes promises is also jabbed, as if with a sword, in conscience. But the tongue of the wise is reasonable.	18 Taluno fa una promessa, e rimane punto dalla coscienza, come da coltello: ma la lingua dei sapienti è santità.
19 The lips of truth shall be steadfast forever. But a hasty witness readies a lying tongue.	19 La bocca di verità sarà sempre costante: ma il testimone temerario si forma un linguaggio di menzogne.
20 Deceit is in the heart of those who devise evils. But gladness follows those who take up counsels of peace.	20 Sta la fraude nel cuore di chi macchina il male: ma a quelli, che ruminano consigli di pace, va dietro il gaudio.
21 Whatever may befall the just, it will not discourage him. But the impious will be filled with disasters.	21 Non sarà contristato il giusto per qualunque cosa che gli avvenga: ma gli empj saranno sempre in guai.
22 Lying lips are an abomination to the Lord. But whoever acts faithfully pleases him.	22 Il Signore ha in abominazione le labbra menzognere: ma quelli, che operano con schiettezza, son grati a lui.
23 A resourceful man conceals knowledge. And the heart of the unwise provokes foolishness.	23 L'uomo cauto nasconde quello, che sa: e il cuore degli stolti butta fuora la sua stoltezza.
24 The hand of the strong will rule. But anyone who is neglectful will pay tribute.	24 La mano dei forti dominerà; ma la mano infingarda pagherà il tributo.
25 Grief in the heart of a man humbles him. And with a good word he shall be made glad.	25 L'afflizione del cuore umilia l'uomo, e le buone parole lo rallegrano.
26 He who ignores a loss for the sake of a friend is just. But the way of the impious will deceive them.	26 Chi per amor dell'amico non fa caso di patir danno, egli è giusto; ma il fare stesso degli empj li gabberà.
27 The dishonest will not discover gain. But the substance of a man will be like precious gold.	27 Non farà guadagno l'uom fraudolento e le facoltà dell'uomo accurato saranno oro prezioso.
28 In the path of justice, there is life. But the devious way leads to death.	28 Ne' sentieri della giustizia sta la vita: ma la strada fuori di mano conduce a morte.
