Alleluia. Confess to the Lord, and invoke his name. Announce his works among the nations.1 Benedici il Signore, anima mia!Sei tanto grande, Signore, mio Dio!Sei rivestito di maestà e di splendore,
Sing to him, and sing psalms to him. Describe all his wonders.2 avvolto di luce come di un manto,tu che distendi i cieli come una tenda,
Be praised in his holy name. Let the heart of those who seek the Lord rejoice.3 costruisci sulle acque le tue alte dimore,fai delle nubi il tuo carro,cammini sulle ali del vento,
Seek the Lord, and be confirmed. Seek his face always.4 fai dei venti i tuoi messaggerie dei fulmini i tuoi ministri.
Remember his miracles, which he has done, his portents and the judgments of his mouth:5 Egli fondò la terra sulle sue basi:non potrà mai vacillare.
you offspring of Abraham his servant, you sons of Jacob his elect.6 Tu l’hai coperta con l’oceano come una veste;al di sopra dei monti stavano le acque.
He is the Lord our God. His judgments are throughout the entire earth.7 Al tuo rimprovero esse fuggirono,al fragore del tuo tuono si ritrassero atterrite.
He has remembered his covenant for all ages: the word that he entrusted to a thousand generations,8 Salirono sui monti, discesero nelle valli,verso il luogo che avevi loro assegnato;
which he assigned to Abraham, and his oath to Isaac.9 hai fissato loro un confine da non oltrepassare,perché non tornino a coprire la terra.
And he stationed the same for Jacob with a precept, and for Israel with an eternal testament,10 Tu mandi nelle valli acque sorgiveperché scorrano tra i monti,
saying: To you, I will give the land of Canaan, the allotment of your inheritance.11 dissetino tutte le bestie dei campie gli asini selvatici estinguano la loro sete.
Though they may have been but a small number, very few and foreigners there,12 In alto abitano gli uccelli del cieloe cantano tra le fronde.
and though they passed from nation to nation, and from one kingdom to another people,13 Dalle tue dimore tu irrighi i monti,e con il frutto delle tue opere si sazia la terra.
he allowed no man to harm them, and he reproved kings on their behalf.14 Tu fai crescere l’erba per il bestiamee le piante che l’uomo coltivaper trarre cibo dalla terra,
Do not be willing to touch my Christ, and do not be willing to malign my prophets.15 vino che allieta il cuore dell’uomo,olio che fa brillare il suo voltoe pane che sostiene il suo cuore.
And he called a famine upon the land, and he crushed every foundation of the bread.16 Sono sazi gli alberi del Signore,i cedri del Libano da lui piantati.
He sent a man before them: Joseph, who had been sold as a slave.17 Là gli uccelli fanno il loro nidoe sui cipressi la cicogna ha la sua casa;
They humbled his feet in shackles; the iron pierced his soul,18 le alte montagne per le capre selvatiche,le rocce rifugio per gli iràci.
until his word arrived. The eloquence of the Lord inflamed him.19 Hai fatto la luna per segnare i tempie il sole che sa l’ora del tramonto.
The king sent and released him; he was the ruler of the people, and he dismissed him.20 Stendi le tenebre e viene la notte:in essa si aggirano tutte le bestie della foresta;
He established him as master of his house and ruler of all his possessions,21 ruggiscono i giovani leoni in cerca di predae chiedono a Dio il loro cibo.
so that he might instruct his princes as himself, and teach his elders prudence.22 Sorge il sole: si ritiranoe si accovacciano nelle loro tane.
And Israel entered into Egypt, and Jacob became a sojourner in the land of Ham.23 Allora l’uomo esce per il suo lavoro,per la sua fatica fino a sera.
And he helped his people greatly, and he strengthened them over their enemies.24 Quante sono le tue opere, Signore!Le hai fatte tutte con saggezza;la terra è piena delle tue creature.
He turned their heart to hate his people, and to deal deceitfully with his servants.25 Ecco il mare spazioso e vasto:là rettili e pesci senza numero,animali piccoli e grandi;
He sent Moses, his servant, and Aaron, the one whom he chose.26 lo solcano le navie il Leviatàn che tu hai plasmatoper giocare con lui.
He placed with them signs of his word, and portents in the land of Ham.27 Tutti da te aspettanoche tu dia loro cibo a tempo opportuno.
He sent darkness and made it conceal, and he did not afflict them with his speech.28 Tu lo provvedi, essi lo raccolgono;apri la tua mano, si saziano di beni.
He turned their waters into blood, and he slaughtered their fish.29 Nascondi il tuo volto: li assale il terrore;togli loro il respiro: muoiono,e ritornano nella loro polvere.
Their land brought forth frogs, even in the inner chambers of their kings.30 Mandi il tuo spirito, sono creati,e rinnovi la faccia della terra.
He spoke, and there came forth common flies and gnats, in every region.31 Sia per sempre la gloria del Signore;gioisca il Signore delle sue opere.
He gave them a shower of hail and a burning fire, in the same land.32 Egli guarda la terra ed essa trema,tocca i monti ed essi fumano.
And he struck their vineyards and their fig trees, and he crushed the trees of their region.33 Voglio cantare al Signore finché ho vita,cantare inni al mio Dio finché esisto.
He spoke, and the locust came forth, and the caterpillar, of which there was no number.34 A lui sia gradito il mio canto,io gioirò nel Signore.
And it devoured all the grass in their land, and it consumed all the fruit of their land.35 Scompaiano i peccatori dalla terrae i malvagi non esistano più.Benedici il Signore, anima mia.Alleluia.
And he struck all the first-born in their land, the first-fruits of all their labor.
And he led them out with silver and gold, and there was not an infirm one among their tribes.
Egypt was joyful at their departure, for the fear of them lay heavy upon them.
He spread a cloud for their protection, and a fire, to give them light through the night.
They petitioned, and the quail came; and he satisfied them with the bread of heaven.
He ruptured the rock and the waters flowed: rivers gushed in the dry land.
For he had called to mind his holy word, which he kept near to his servant Abraham.
And he led forth his people in exultation, and his elect in rejoicing.
And he gave them the regions of the Gentiles, and they possessed the labors of the peoples,
so that they might observe his justifications, and inquire about his law.
