1 Now these are the generations of Esau, who is Edom.	1 Voici le dénombrement des enfants (les générations) d'Esaü, appelé aussi Edom.
2 Esau took wives from the daughters of Canaan: Adah the daughter of Elon the Hittite, and Oholibamah the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibeon the Hivite,	2 Esaü épousa des femmes d'entre les filles de Chanaan : Ada, fille d'Elon, Héthéen, et Oolibama, fille d'Ana, fille de Sébéon, Hévéen.
3 and Basemath, the daughter of Ishmael, sister of Nebaioth.	3 Il épousa aussi Bazemath, fille d'Ismaël et sœur de Nabaïoth.
4 Then Adah bore Eliphaz. Basemath conceived Reuel.	4 Ada enfanta Eliphaz ; Bazemath fut mère de Rahuel.
5 Oholibamah conceived Jeush, and Jalam, and Korah. These are the sons of Esau, who were born to him in the land of Canaan.	5 Oolibama eut pour fils Jéhus, Ihélon et Coré. Ce sont là les fils d'Esaü, qui lui naquirent au pays de Chanaan.
6 Then Esau took his wives, and sons, and daughters, and every soul of his house, and his substance, and cattle, and whatever he was able to obtain in the land of Canaan, and he went into another region, withdrawing from his brother Jacob.	6 Or Esaü prit ses femmes, ses fils, ses filles et toutes les personnes de sa maison, son bien, ses bestiaux et tout ce qu'il possédait en la terre de Chanaan, et il s'en alla en un autre pays, loin de son frère Jacob.
7 For they were very wealthy and were not able to live together. Neither was the land of their sojourn able to sustain them, because of the multitude of their flocks.	7 Car, comme ils étaient extrêmement riches, ils ne pouvaient demeurer ensemble, et la terre où ils séjournaient ne pouvait les contenir à cause de la multitude de leurs troupeaux.
8 And Esau lived at mount Seir: he is Edom.	8 (Ainsi) Esaü, appelé aussi Edom, habita sur la montagne de Séir.
9 So these are the generations of Esau, the father of Edom, at mount Seir,	9 Voici la postérité (les générations) d'Esaü, père d'Edom, dans la montagne de Séir.
10 and these are the names of his sons: Eliphaz the son of Adah, the wife of Esau, likewise Reuel, the son of Basemath, his wife.	10 Et voici les noms de ses enfants (fils). Eliphaz fut fils d'Ada, femme d'Esaü, et Rahuel fils de Bazemath, qui fut aussi sa femme.
11 And Eliphaz had sons: Teman, Omar, Zepho, and Gatam, and Kenez.	11 Les fils d'Eliphaz furent Théman, Omar, Sépho, Gatham et Cénez.
12 Now Timna was the concubine of Eliphaz, the son of Esau. And she bore him Amalek. These are the sons of Adah, the wife of Esau.	12 Eliphaz, fils d'Esaü, avait encore une femme nommée Thamna, qui lui enfanta Amalech. Ce sont là les fils d'Ada, femme d'Esaü.
13 And the sons of Reuel were Nahath and Zerah, Shammah and Mizzah. These are the sons of Basemath, the wife of Esau.	13 Les fils de Rahuel furent Nahath, Zara, Samma et Meza. Ce sont là les fils de Bazemath, femme d'Esaü.
14 Likewise, these were the sons of Oholibamah, the daughter of Anah, the daughter of Zibeon, the wife of Esau, whom she bore to him: Jeush, and Jalam, and Korah.	14 Jéhus, Ihélon et Coré furent fils d'Oolibama, femme d'Esaü ; elle était fille d'Ana, fille de Sébéon.
15 These were leaders of the sons of Esau, the sons of Eliphaz, the firstborn of Esau: leader Teman, leader Omar, leader Zepho, leader Kenez,	15 Voici les princes (chef) d'entre les enfants d'Esaü, fils d'Eliphaz, fils aîné d'Esaü : le prince (chef) Théman, le prince Omar, le prince Sépho, le prince Cénez,
16 leader Korah, leader Gatam, leader Amalek. These are the sons of Eliphaz, in the land of Edom, and these the sons of Adah.	16 le prince Coré, le prince Gatham, le prince Amalech. Ce sont là les fils d'Eliphaz, dans le pays d'Edom, et les fils d'Ada.
17 Likewise, these are the sons of Reuel, the son of Esau: leader Nahath, leader Zerah, leader Shammah, leader Mizzah. And these were the leaders of Reuel, in the land of Edom. These are the sons of Basemath, the wife of Esau.	17 Les enfants de Rahuel, fils d'Esaü, furent le prince Nahath, le prince Zara, le prince Samma, le prince Meza. Ce sont là les princes issus de Rahuel, au pays d'Edom ; et ce sont les fils de Bazemath, femme d'Esaü.
18 Now these are the sons of Oholibamah, the wife of Esau: leader Jeush, leader Jalam, leader Korah. These were the leaders of Oholibamah, the daughter of Anah and the wife of Esau.	18 Les fils d'Oolibama, femme d'Esaü, furent le prince Jéhus, le prince Ihélon, le prince Coré. Ce sont là les princes issus d'Oolibama, fille d'Ana et femme d'Esaü.
19 These are the sons of Esau, and these were their leaders: this is Edom.	19 Voilà les fils d'Esaü, appelé aussi Edom, et ceux d'entre eux qui ont été princes (chefs).
20 These are the sons of Seir, the Horite, the inhabitants of the land: Lotan, and Shobal, and Zibeon, and Anah,	20 Les fils de Séir, Horréen, qui habitaient alors ce pays-là, sont Lotan, Sobal, Sébéon et Ana,
21 and Dishon, and Ezer, and Dishan. These were the leaders of the Horites, the sons of Seir, in the land of Edom.	21 Dison, Eser et Disan. Ce sont là les princes (chefs) horréens, fils de Séir, dans le pays d'Edom.
22 Now Lotan produced sons: Hori and Heman. But the sister of Lotan was Timna.	22 Les fils de Lotan furent Hori et Héman ; et ce Lotan avait une sœur nommée Thamna.
23 And these are the sons of Shobal: Alvan, and Manahath, and Ebal, and Shepho, and Onam.	23 Les fils de Sobal furent Alvan, Manahat, Ebal, Sépho et Onam.
24 And these are the sons of Zibeon: Aiah and Anah. This is the Anah who found the hot springs in the wilderness, when he was pasturing the donkeys of his father Zibeon.	24 Les fils de Sébéon furent Aïa et Ana. C'est cet Ana qui trouva des eaux chaudes dans le désert, lorsqu'il conduisait les ânes de Sébéon, son père.
25 And he had a son Dishon, and a daughter Oholibamah.	25 Il eut un fils nommé Dison, et une fille nommée Oolibama.
26 And these are the sons of Dishon: Hemdan, and Esheban, and Ithran, and Cheran.	26 Les fils de Dison furent Hamdan, Eséban, Jéthram et Charan.
27 Likewise, these are the sons of Ezer: Bilhan, and Zaavan, and Akan.	27 Les fils d'Eser furent Balaan, Zavan et Achan.
28 Then Dishan had sons: Uz and Aran.	28 Les fils de Disan furent Hus et Aram.
29 These were the leaders of the Horites: leader Lotan, leader Shobal, leader Zibeon, leader Anah,	29 Voici les princes (chefs) des Horréens : le prince Lotan, le prince Sobal, le prince Sébéon, le prince Ana,
30 leader Dishon, leader Ezer, leader Disan. These were leaders of the Horites who ruled in the land of Seir.	30 le prince Dison, le prince Eser, le prince Disan. Ce sont là les princes (chefs) des Horréens, qui commandèrent dans le pays de Séir.
31 Now before the sons of Israel had a king, the kings who ruled in the land of Edom were these:	31 (Mais) Les rois qui régnèrent aux pays d'Edom avant que les enfants d'Israël eussent un roi furent ceux-ci :
32 Bela the son of Beor, and the name of his city was Dinhabah.	32 Béla, fils de Béor ; et sa ville s'appelait Denaba.
33 Then Bela died, and Jobab, the son of Zerah from Bozrah, reigned in his place.	33 Béla étant mort, Jobab, fils de Zara, de Bosra, régna en sa place.
34 And when Jobab was dead, Husham of the land of the Temanites reigned in his place.	34 Après la mort de Jobab, Husam qui était du pays des Thémanites, lui succéda.
35 Likewise, this one having died, Hadad the son of Bedad reigned in his place. He struck down Midian in the region of Moab. And the name of his city was Avith.	35 Celui-ci étant mort, Adad, fils de Badad, régna après lui. Ce fut lui qui défit les Madianites au pays de Moab. Sa ville s'appelait Avith.
36 And when Adad was dead, Samlah of Masrekah reigned in his place.	36 Adad étant mort, Semla, qui était de Masréca, lui succéda.
37 Likewise, this one being dead, Shaul of the river Rehoboth, reigned in his place.	37 Après la mort de Semla, Saül, qui était sur le fleuve de Rohoboth, régna en (à) sa place.
38 And when he also had passed away, Baal-hanan, the son of Achbor, succeeded to the kingdom.	38 Saül étant mort, Balanan, fils d'Achobor, lui succéda (au royaume).
39 Likewise, this one being dead, Hadar reigned in his place; and the name of his city was Pau. And his wife was called Mehetabel, the daughter of Matred, daughter of Mezahab.	39 Après la mort de Balanan, Adar régna en sa place. Sa ville s'appelait Phaü, et sa femme se nommait Méétabel, fille de Matred, fille de Mézaab.
40 Therefore, these were the names of the leaders of Esau, by their families, and places, and in their vocabulary: leader Timna, leader Alvah, leader Jetheth,	40 Voici les noms des princes (chefs) issus d'Esaü, selon leurs familles, leurs territoires et leurs noms : le prince Thamna, le prince Alva, le prince Jétheth,
41 leader Oholibamah, leader Elah, leader Pinon,	41 le prince Oolibama, le prince Ela, le prince Phinon,
42 leader Kanez, leader Teman, leader Mibzar,	42 le prince Cénez, le prince Théman, le prince Mabsar,
43 leader Magdiel, leader Iram. These were the leaders of Edom living in the land of their rule: this is Esau, the father of Idumea.	43 le prince Magdiel et le prince Hiram. Ce sont là les princes (chefs) sortis d'Edom, qui ont habité dans les terres de son empire (le pays de leur domination). C'est là Esaü, père des Iduméens.
