1 Samuel 9

1 Among the men of Benjamin was a man cal ed Kish son of Abiel, son of Zeror, son of Becorath, son ofAphiah; a Benjaminite and a person of rank.	1 Eravi un uomo di Beniamin per nome Cis, figliuolo di Abiel, figliuolo di Seror, figliuolo di Bechorath, figliuolo di Aphia, figliuolo di Jemini, uomo di molto valore.
2 He had a son cal ed Saul, a handsome man in the prime of life. Of al the Israelites there was no onemore handsome than he; he stood head and shoulders tal er than anyone else.	2 E questi avea un figliuolo per nome Saul in florida età e ben fatto: e non v'era tra’ figliuoli d'Israele chi lo avvantaggiasse. Era più alto di tutta la gente dalle spalle in su.
3 Now since the donkeys belonging to Kish, Saul's father, had strayed, Kish said to his son Saul, 'My son,take one of the servants with you and be off; go and look for the donkeys.'	3 Or eransi smarrite le asine di Cis padre di Saul. E Cis disse a Saul suo figliuolo: Prendi teco uno dei servi, e parti, e va in cerca delle asine. Ed eglino essendo passati pel monte Ephraim,
4 They went through the highlands of Ephraim, they went through the territory of Shalishah, and did notfind them; they went through the territory of Shaalim but they were not there; they went through the territory ofBenjamin and did not find them.	4 E per la terra di Salisa, senza averle trovate, scorsero anche il paese di Salim; ma non vi erano, e anche il paese di Jemini, ma nulla scoprirono.
5 When they reached the territory of Zuph, Saul said to the servant who was with him, 'Come on, let usgo back or my father wil stop worrying over the donkeys and start being anxious about us.'	5 Ed essendo arrivati alla terra di Suph, disse Saul al servo che era con lui: Vieni, torniamcene, perchè non accada che il padre mio, non prendendosi più pensiero delle asine, sia in pena per noi.
6 The servant, however, replied, 'Look, there is a man of God in this town, a man who is held in honour;everything he says comes true. Let us go there, then; perhaps he wil be able to show us the way that we shouldtake.'	6 E quegli disse a lui: E’ qui in questa città un uomo di Dio, uomo celebre: tutto quel ch'egli dice, succede sicuramente: or noi andiamo là, se forse egli ci desse qualche indizio riguardo al fine del nostro viaggio.
7 Saul said to his servant, 'But if we do go, what can we take to the man? The food in our sacks isfinished, and we have no present to offer the man of God. What else have we got?'	7 E Saul disse al suo servo: Su via, anderemo: Che porterem noi all’uomo di Dio? non v'è più pane ne' nostri sacchi, e non abbiamo nissun presente di sorta da dare all'uomo di Dio.
8 The servant spoke up again and said to Saul, 'Look, I happen to have a quarter of a silver shekel; Ishall give that to the man of God, for him to tel us which way to go.'	8 Ma il servo replicò a Saul, dicendo: Ecco un quarto di statere di argento che ho trovato, non so come, diamolo all’uomo di Dio affinchè ci dia lume pel nostro viaggio.
9 In Israel, in olden days, when anyone used to go to consult God, he would say, 'Come on, let us go tothe seer,' for a man who is now cal ed a 'prophet' used to be cal ed a 'seer' in olden days.	9 (In antico tutti quelli che in Israele andavano a consultare Dio, così solean parlare: Venite, andiamo a trovare il Veggente. Perocché quelli che oggi si chiaman profeti: chiamavansi allora i Veggenti.)
10 Saul then said to his servant, 'Wel said! Come on, let us go.' And they went off to the town where theman of God was.	10 E Saul disse al suo servo: Tu dici benissimo. Vieni, andiamo. E andarono nella città, in cui stava l’uomo di Dio.
11 As they were going up the slope to the town they came across some girls going out to draw water, andsaid to them, 'Is the seer there?'	11 E nel salir la collina della città trovaron delle fanciulle, che andavano ad attigner acqua, e disser loro: Sta egli qui il Veggente?
12 The girls replied, 'He is. He arrived a moment or two ahead of you. You had better hurry: he has justcome to town because the people are having a sacrifice today on the high place.	12 E quelli risposero, e dissero loro: Eccolo qui poco innanzi a te: va ora presto: perocché oggi egli è venuto alla città, perchè oggi vi è sacrifizio del popolo nel luogo eccelso.
13 You can catch him as soon as you go into the town, before he goes up to the high place for the meal.The people wil not eat until he comes, since he must bless the sacrifice; after that, the guests will start eating. Ifyou go up now, you will find him straight away.'	13 Entrando in città voi lo troverete subito, che non sarà ancora andato al luogo eccelso per mangiare: il popolo poi non mangerà sino a tanto che egli sia colà giunto: perocché egli benedice l’ostia, e poi mangiano quelli che sono chiamati. Su via salite adesso, che oggi lo troverete.
14 So they went up to the town and, as they were going through the gate, Samuel came out towardsthem on his way to the high place.	14 Ed essi salirono alla città. E mentre passavan pel mezzo di essa, comparve Samuele che andava loro incontro per poi salire al luogo eccelso.
15 Now, Yahweh had given Samuel a revelation the day before Saul came, saying,	15 Or il Signore un giorno prima della venuta di Saul l’avea rivelata a Samuele, dicendo:
16 'About this time tomorrow, I shal send you a man from the territory of Benjamin; you are to anoint himas prince of my people Israel, and he wil save my people from the power of the Philistines; for I have seen themisery of my people and their cries of anguish have come to me.'	16 Nella stessa ora che è adesso, domane manderò a te un uomo della terra di Beniamin, e tu lo ungerai come capo del mio popolo d'Israele: ed egli salverà il mio popolo dalle mani de’ Filistei: perocché io ho rivolto l’occhio verso il mio popolo, le loro grida sono arrivate a me.
17 When Samuel saw Saul, Yahweh told him, 'That is the man of whom I said to you, "He is to govern mypeople." '	17 E quando Samuele ebbe veduto Saul, il Signore gli disse: Ecco l'uomo, di cui io ti avea parlato: questi avrà il comando del popol mio.
18 Saul accosted Samuel in the gateway and said, 'Tel me, please, where the seer's house is.'	18 E Saul si appressò a Samuele in mezzo alla porta, e disse: Di grazia insegnami, dove sia la casa del Veggente.
19 Samuel replied to Saul, 'I am the seer. Go up ahead of me to the high place. You must eat with metoday. Tomorrow, when I let you go, I shal tell you whatever is on your mind.	19 E Samuel rispose a Saul, e disse: Io sono il Veggente: incamminati dinanzi a me verso il luogo eccelso, perchè oggi mangiate meco, e domattina ti rimanderò: e ti spiegherò tutto quello che hai in cuor tuo.
20 As regards your donkeys, however, which strayed three days ago, do not worry about them; they havebeen found. And for whom is the whole wealth of Israel destined, if not for you and for al the members of yourfather's family?'	20 E non prenderti fastidio riguardo alle asine smarrite tre giorni fa: perocché sono trovate. E di chi sarà tutto il meglio d’Israele? Non sarà egli tuo, e di tutta la casa del padre tuo?
21 To this, Saul replied, 'Am I not a Benjaminite, from the smallest of the tribes of Israel? And is not myfamily the least of all the families of the tribe of Benjamin? Why are you saying a thing like this to me?'	21 Ma Saul rispose, e disse: E non son io figliuolo di Jemini, della minima tribù d'Israele, e la mia famiglia non è dessa l'ultima di tutte quelle di Beniamin? per qual motivo adunque mi hai parlato in tal guisa?
22 Samuel then took Saul and his servant and brought them into the hal and gave them a place at thehead of the guests, of whom there were about thirty.	22 Ma Samuele prese seco Saul, e il suo servo, e gl’introdusse nella sala, e li collocò in cima a tutti quelli che erano stati invitati: or questi erano circa trenta uomini.
23 Samuel then said to the cook, 'Serve the portion which I gave you and told you to put on one side.'	23 E Samuele disse al cuoco: Metti fuora la porzione che io ti diedi, e ti ordinai di tener in serbo presso di te.
24 The cook then picked up the leg and the tail and put it in front of Saul, saying, 'This is for you. This iswhat was left. Make a good meal . . .' That day, Saul ate with Samuel.	24 Il cuoco allora portò una spalla, e la posò davanti a Saul, e disse Samuele: Ecco quello che avanzò, mettitelo dinanzi, e mangia: perocché fu serbato a posta per te, quand'io invitai il popolo. E Saul mangiò quel giorno con Samuele.
25 They came down from the high place into the town. A bed was made for Saul on the roof and he laydown there.	25 E sceser dal luogo eccelso nella città, e (Samuele) discorse con Saul sul solajo: e Saul si adagiò sul solajo e dormì.
26 At dawn, Samuel cal ed to Saul on the roof, 'Get up, and I shall send you on your way.' Saul got up,and Samuel and he went outside together.	26 E la mattina essendosi alzato sul far del giorno Samuele chiamò Saul, che era sul solajo, dicendo: Alzati, e io ti rimanderò. E Saul si alzò: e usciron fuora ambedue, vale a dire egli, e Samuele.
27 They had walked as far as the end of the town when Samuel said to Saul, 'Tell the servant to go onahead of us, but you stand stil for a moment, so that I can make known to you the word of God.'	27 E mentre scendevano nella parte infima della città disse Samuele a Saul: Dì al servo che passi, e vada innanzi a noi, e tu fermati un pochetto; affinchè io ti annunzi la parola del Signore.
