1 It then happened that the Philistines mustered their forces for war, to fight Israel, and Achish said toDavid, 'It is understood that you and your men go into battle with me.'	1 OR avvenne in que’ dì che i Filistei adunarono i lor campi in una massa di esercito per guerreggiare contro ad Israele. Ed Achis disse a Davide: Sappi pure che tu e la tua gente uscirete meco alla guerra.
2 David said to Achish, 'In that case, you wil soon see what your servant can do.' Achish replied toDavid, 'Right, I shal appoint you as my permanent bodyguard.'	2 E Davide disse ad Achis: Tu conoscerai adunque ciò che il tuo servitore farà. Ed Achis disse a Davide: Ed io adunque ti costituirò guardia della mia persona in perpetuo.
3 Now Samuel was dead, and al Israel had mourned him and buried him at Ramah, his own town. Saulhad expel ed the necromancers and wizards from the country.	3 Or Samuele era morto, e tutti gl’Israeliti ne aveano fatto cordoglio, e l’aveano seppellito in Rama, nella sua città. Or Saulle avea tolti via dal paese quelli che aveano lo spirito di Pitone e gl’indovini.
4 Meanwhile the Philistines had mustered and had come and pitched camp at Shunem. Saul musteredal Israel and they encamped at Gilboa.	4 Essendosi adunque i Filistei adunati, vennero, e si accamparono in Sunem; Saulle adunò anch’egli tutto Israele, e si accamparono in Ghilboa.
5 When Saul saw the Philistine camp, he was afraid and his heart trembled violently.	5 E Saulle, veduto il campo de’ Filistei, ebbe paura, e il cuor suo fu grandemente spaventato.
6 Saul consulted Yahweh, but Yahweh gave him no answer, either by dream, divination or prophet.	6 E Saulle domandò il Signore. Ma il Signore non gli rispose, nè per sogni, nè per Urim, nè per profeti
7 Saul then said to his servants, 'Find a necromancer for me, so that I can go and consult her.' Hisservants replied, 'There is a necromancer at En-Dor.'	7 Laonde Saulle disse a’ suoi servitori: Cercatemi una donna che abbia uno spirito di Pitone acciocchè io vada da lei, e la domandi. Ed i suoi servitori gli dissero: Ecco, in En-dor vi è una donna che ha uno spirito di Pitone.
8 And so Saul, disguising himself and changing his clothes, set out accompanied by two men; their visitto the woman took place at night. 'Disclose the future to me', he said, 'by means of a ghost. Conjure up the one Ishall name to you.'	8 E Saulle mutò abito, e si travestì, e se ne andò con due uomini seco. E, giunti a quella donna di notte, Saulle le disse: Deh! indovinami per lo spirito di Pitone, e fammi salir fuori colui che io ti dirò.
9 The woman replied, 'Look, you know what Saul has done, how he has outlawed necromancers andwizards from the country; why are you setting a trap for my life, then, to have me killed?'	9 E quella donna gli disse: Ecco, tu sai ciò che Saulle ha fatto, come egli ha sterminati dal paese quelli che aveano lo spirito di Pitone, e gl’indovini; perchè dunque ti metti a tendere un laccio alla mia vita, per farmi morire?
10 But Saul swore to her by Yahweh, 'As Yahweh lives,' he said, 'no blame shal attach to you for thisbusiness.'	10 Ma Saulle le giurò per lo Signore, dicendo: Come il Signore vive, niente ti avverrà in pena di questo fatto.
11 The woman asked, 'Whom shal I conjure up for you?' He replied, 'Conjure up Samuel.'	11 La donna adunque gli disse: Chi ti farò io salir fuori? E Saulle disse: Fammi salir fuori Samuele.
12 The woman then saw Samuel and, giving a great cry, she said to Saul, 'Why have you deceived me?You are Saul!'	12 E, quando la donna ebbe veduto Samuele, sclamò con gran voce, e disse a Saulle: Perchè mi hai ingannata? conciossiachè tu sii Saulle.
13 The king said, 'Do not be afraid! What do you see?' The woman replied to Saul, 'I see a ghost risingfrom the earth.'	13 Ma il re le disse: Non temere; ma pure che hai tu veduto? E la donna disse a Saulle: Io ho veduto un Angelo che sale fuor della terra.
14 'What is he like?' he asked. She replied, 'It is an old man coming up; he is wrapped in a cloak.' Saulthen knew that it was Samuel and, bowing to the ground, prostrated himself.	14 Ed egli disse: Qual’è la sua forma? Ed ella disse: Ei sale fuori un uomo vecchio, il quale è avvolto di un mantello. E Saulle riconobbe ch’era Samuele; e s’inchinò con la faccia in terra, e gli fece riverenza
15 Samuel said to Saul, 'Why have you disturbed my rest by conjuring me up?' Saul replied, 'I am ingreat distress; the Philistines are waging war on me, and God has abandoned me and no longer answers meeither by prophet or by dream; and so I have summoned you to tel me what I ought to do.'	15 E Samuele disse a Saulle: Perchè mi hai tu inquietato, facendomi salir fuori? E Saulle disse: Io son grandemente distretto; perciocchè i Filistei guerreggiano contro a me, e Iddio si è partito da me, e non mi risponde più, nè per profeti, nè per sogni; perciò ti ho chiamato, acciocchè tu mi dichiari ciò che ho da fare.
16 Samuel said, 'Why consult me, when Yahweh has abandoned you and has become your enemy?	16 E Samuele disse: E perchè domandi me, poichè il Signore si è partito da te, e ti è diventato nemico?
17 Yahweh has treated you as he foretold through me; he has snatched the sovereignty from your handand given it to your neighbour, David,	17 Or il Signore ha fatto come egli ne avea parlato per me; ed ha stracciato il regno d’infra le tue mani, e l’ha dato a Davide, tuo famigliare.
18 because you disobeyed Yahweh's voice and did not execute his fierce anger against Amalek. That iswhy Yahweh is treating you like this today.	18 Perciocchè tu non ubbidisti alla voce del Signore, e non mettesti ad esecuzione l’ira sua accesa contro ad Amalec; perciò il Signore ti ha oggi fatto questo.
19 What is more, Yahweh will deliver Israel and you too, into the power of the Philistines. Tomorrow youand your sons will be with me; and Yahweh wil hand over the army of Israel into the power of the Philistines.'	19 E il Signore darà eziandio Israele nelle mani de’ Filistei; e domani, tu, e i tuoi figliuoli, sarete meco; il Signore darà eziandio il campo d’Israele nelle mani de’ Filistei
20 Immediately Saul fell ful length on the ground. He was terrified by what Samuel had said and wasalso weak from having eaten nothing al that day and night.	20 Allora Saulle cadde subitamente di tutta la sua lunghezza a terra, ed ebbe gran paura per le parole di Samuele; ed oltre a ciò, non vi era in lui alcuna forza; perciocchè non avea mangiato alcun cibo in tutto quel giorno, nè in tutta quella notte.
21 The woman went to Saul and, seeing his terror, said, 'Look, your servant has obeyed your order; Ihave taken my life in my hands and obeyed the command which you gave me.	21 E quella donna venne a Saulle, e veggendo ch’egli era forte turbato, gli disse: Ecco, la tua servente ha acconsentito alla tua voce, ed io ho messa la vita mia a rischio, e ho ubbidito alle parole che tu mi hai dette.
22 Now please, you in your turn listen to what your servant has to say. Let me offer you a piece ofbread. Eat something and get some strength for your journey.'	22 Ora dunque, ascolta, ti prego, altresì ciò che ti dirà la tua servente; e lascia che io ti metta una fetta di pane davanti, e mangia, e tu avrai un poco di forza, quando tu ti rimetterai in cammino.
23 But he refused. 'I wil not eat,' he said. His servants however pressed him, and so did the woman.Al owing himself to be persuaded by them, he got up from the ground and sat on the bed.	23 Ed egli lo rifiutò, e disse: Io non mangerò. Ma i suoi servitori, e anche quella donna, lo strinsero; talchè egli acconsentì al dir loro; e, levatosi da terra, si pose a sedere sopra un letto.
24 The woman owned a fattened calf which she quickly slaughtered, and she took some flour andkneaded it and with it baked some unleavened cakes	24 Or quella donna avea un vitello stiato in casa, il quale ella prestamente ammazzò; prese eziandio della farina, e l’intrise, e ne cosse de’ pani azzimi;
25 which she served to Saul and his servants; they ate, and then set off and left the same night.	25 e recò quelle cose davanti a Saulle, e davanti a’ suoi servitori. Ed essi mangiarono; poi si levarono, e andarono via quella stessa notte
