1 Samuel said to all Israel, 'I have faithful y done al that you asked of me, and have appointed you aking.	1 E Samuele disse a tutto Israele: Ecco che io ho ascoltate le vostre parole in tutto quello che mi avete domandato, e vi ho dato un re.
2 In future, the king will lead you. As for me, I am old and grey, and in any case you have my sons. Ihave been your leader ever since I was young until today.	2 E già il re va innanzi a voi: ma io son vecchio, e canuto: e i miei figliuoli sono tra voi. Or avendo io passata la mia vita con voi dalla mia adolescenza sino a questo giorno, eccomi ora presente.
3 Here I am. Bear witness against me before Yahweh and before his anointed. Whose ox have I taken?Whose donkey have I taken? Have I wronged or oppressed anyone? Have I taken a consideration from anyonefor looking the other way? If so, I wil make amends.'	3 E voi parlate pure di me dinanzi al Signore e dinanzi al suo Cristo se io ho preso il bue o l’asino di qualcheduno: se ho calunniato alcuno, o l'ho oppresso: se ho accettati doni da chicchessia: e io me ne priverò quest'oggi, e ve li restituirò.
4 They said, 'You have neither wronged nor oppressed us nor accepted anything from anyone.'	4 E quelli dissero: Non hai calunniato, nè oppresso alcuno, e non hai presa cosa veruna dalle mani di chicchessia.
5 He said to them, 'Yahweh is your witness and his anointed is witness today that you have foundnothing in my hands?' They replied, 'He is witness.'	5 Ed ei disse loro: II Signore è testimone contro di voi, ed è testimone il suo Cristo in questo dì, come voi non avete trovato nulla nelle mie mani. E quelli dissero: Testimone.
6 Samuel then said to the people, 'Yahweh is witness, he who raised up Moses and Aaron and whobrought your ancestors out of Egypt.	6 E Samuele disse al popolo: (Testimone) il Signore che fece Mosè, e Aronne, e trasse i padri nostri dalla terra d’Egitto.
7 So now, stay where you are, while I plead with you before Yahweh and remind you of al the savingacts which he has done for you and for your ancestors.	7 Ora adunque state su, affinchè io vi chiami in giudizio dinanzi al Signore per ragione di tutte le misericordie fatte dal Signore a voi, e a' padri vostri:
8 After Jacob had arrived in Egypt, the Egyptians oppressed them, and your ancestors cried to Yahweh.Yahweh then sent Moses and Aaron, who brought your ancestors out of Egypt and gave them a settled homehere.	8 Come Giacobbe entrò in Egitto, e i padri vostri alzaron le grida al Signore: e il Signore mandò Mosè, e Aronne, e trasse i padri vostri dall'Egitto, e li collocò in questo luogo.
9 They then forgot Yahweh their God and he sold them into the power of Sisera, general of the army ofHazor, and also into the power of the Philistines and of the king of Moab, who made war on them.	9 Ed eglino si dimenticarono del Signore Dio loro, ed ei gli diede in poter di Sisara capitano di Hasor, e in potere de' Filistei, e in potere del re di Moab, i quali fecero ad essi guerra.
10 They cried to Yahweh, "We have sinned," they said, "for we have deserted Yahweh and served theBaals and the Astartes. Rescue us now from the power of our enemies, and we wil serve you."	10 E dipoi alzaron le voci al Signore, e dissero: Abbiam peccato, perchè abbiamo abbandonato il Signore, e abbiam servito a Baal, e ad Astaroth: adesso adunque liberaci tu dalle mani de' nostri nemici, e serviremo a te.
11 Yahweh then sent Jerubbaal, Barak, Jephthah, and Samuel. He rescued you from the power of theenemies surrounding you, and you lived in security.	11 E il Signore mandò Jerobaal, e Badan, e Jephte e Samuel, e liberovvi dalle mani de’ vostri nemici che vi circondavano, e abitaste senza timore.
12 'But when you saw Nahash, king of the Ammonites, marching on you, you said to me, "No, we musthave a king to rule us"-although Yahweh your God is your king.	12 Ma veggendo, come Naas re de' figliuoli di Ammon si era mosso contro di voi, diceste a me: Non più: un re sarà quegli che comanderà a noi: mentre regnava sopra di voi il Signore Dio vostro.
13 So, here is the king whom you have chosen; Yahweh has appointed you a king.	13 Or adunque ecco qui il vostro re eletto, e domandato da voi: ecco qui che il Signore vi ha dato un re.
14 If you fear and serve Yahweh and obey his voice and do not rebel against his commands, and if bothyou and the king who rules you follow Yahweh your God, al wil be wel .	14 Se voi temerete il Signore, e lo servirete e ascolterete la sua parola, e non irriterete la faccia del Signore: vivrete e voi, e il re che vi governa, seguendo il Signore Dio vostro:
15 But if you do not obey Yahweh's voice but rebel against his commands, Yahweh's hand wil beagainst you and against your king.	15 Se poi non ascolterete la voce del Signore, ma contrarierete la sua parola, la man del Signore sarà sopra di voi, come su' vostri padri.
16 'Stay where you are and see the wonder which Yahweh wil do before your eyes.	16 Ma oggi ancora state su, e osservate questa cosa grande, che il Signore farà dinanzi a voi.
17 Is it not now the wheat harvest? I shal call on Yahweh and he will send thunder and rain, so that youmay clearly understand what a very wicked thing you have done, in Yahweh's eyes, by asking for a king.'	17 Non è egli adesso il tempo della messe del grano? Io invocherò il Signore, ed ei ci manderà tuoni, e pioggia: e conoscerete, e vedrete, che un mal grande nel cospetto del Signore vi siete fatto, chiedendo un re, che a voi sovrastasse.
18 Samuel then cal ed on Yahweh, and Yahweh sent thunder and rain the same day, and al the peopleheld Yahweh and Samuel in great awe.	18 E Samuele alzò la voce al Signore, e il Signore mandò tuoni, e pioggia in quel giorno.
19 They al said to Samuel, 'Pray for your servants to Yahweh your God, to save us from death; for to alour sins we have added this wrong of asking for a king.'	19 E il popolo tutto temè sommamente il Signore, e Samuele e tutto il popolo disse a Samuele: Prega il Signore Dio tuo pe' tuoi servi, affinchè non muojamo: perocché a tutti gli altri peccati nostri abbiamo aggiunto questo male di chiedere per noi un re.
20 Samuel said to the people, 'Do not be afraid. Although you have done al these wicked things, do notwithdraw your allegiance from Yahweh. Instead, serve Yahweh with al your heart.	20 Ma Samuele disse al popolo: Non temete: voi avete fatto tutto questo male; nulladimeno non vi ritirate dalla sequela del Signore, ma servite il Signore con tutto il cuor vostro.
21 Do not transfer your al egiance to useless idols which, being useless, are futile and cannot saveanybody;	21 E non vi rivolgete verso le vanità, le quali non gioveranno a voi, e non vi libereranno, perchè son vanità.
22 Yahweh, for the sake of his great name, wil not desert his people, for it has pleased Yahweh tomake you his people.	22 E il Signore non abbandonerà il suo popolo per amore del suo nome grande: perchè il Signore giurò di farvi suo popolo.
23 For my part, far be it from me to sin against Yahweh by ceasing to pray for you or to instruct you inthe good and right way.	23 Lungi poi da me di far questo peccato contro il Signore, ch'io cessi di orar per voi: io vi mostrerò sempre la strada buona, e diritta.
24 Fear none but Yahweh, and serve him faithful y with al your heart, bearing in mind the wonder whichhe has just performed. But, if you persist in wickedness, you and your king will perish.'	24 Per la qual cosa temete il Signore, e servitelo veracemente, e di tutto cuore: perocché avete veduto le grandi cose che ha fatte tra voi.
	25 Che se voi ostinerete nella malizia, perirete insieme e voi, e il vostro re.
