1 Samuel 10

NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Samuel took a phial of oil and poured it on Saul's head; he then kissed him and said, 'Has not Yahwehanointed you as leader of his people Israel? You are the man who is to govern Yahweh's people and save themfrom the power of the enemies surrounding them. The sign for you that Yahweh has anointed you as prince ofhis heritage is this:	1 Allora Samuele prese l'ampolla dell'olio e la versò sul capo di lui e poi lo baciò dicendo: "Non è forse il Signore che ti ha consacrato principe sul suo popolo, su Israele? Tu reggerai il popolo del Signore e lo salverai dal potere dei suoi nemici tutt'intorno. Questo sarà il segno per te, che il Signore ti ha consacrato sulla sua eredità:
2 after leaving me today, you will meet two men near the tomb of Rachel, on the frontier of Benjamin . . .and they wil say to you, "The donkeys which you went looking for have been found, and your father has lostinterest in the matter of the donkeys and is worrying about you and wondering, What am I to do about my son?"	2 oggi, partendo da me, incontrerai due uomini presso il sepolcro di Rachele sul confine di Beniamino, a Zèlzach. Essi ti diranno: "Sono state ritrovate le asine che eri andato a cercare. Ecco che tuo padre, dimenticata la faccenda delle asine, è in ansia per voi dicendo: Che devo fare per mio figlio?".
3 Going on from there, you wil come to the Oak of Tabor, where you will meet three men going up toGod at Bethel; one wil be carrying three kids, one three loaves of bread and the third a skin of wine.	3 Tu, oltrepassato quel luogo, arriverai alla quercia del Tabor. Là ti incontreranno tre uomini che salgono verso Dio in Betel: uno porterà tre capretti; l'altro porterà tre pagnotte di pane, e il terzo porterà un otre di vino.
4 They will greet you and give you two loaves of bread which you must accept from them.	4 Essi ti saluteranno e ti offriranno due pani che tu accetterai dalle loro mani.
5 After this, you wil come to Gibeah of God (where the Philistine garrison is) and, when you are justoutside the town, you wil meet a group of prophets coming down from the high place, headed by lyre,tambourine, pipe and harp; they wil be in a state of ecstasy.	5 Dopo ciò giungerai a Gàbaa di Dio dov'è il presidio dei Filistei e mentre entrerai in città ti imbatterai in uno stuolo di profeti che scendono dall'altura preceduti da arpa e tamburello, flauto e cetra in atteggiamento da profeti.
6 The spirit of Yahweh will then seize on you, and you wil go into ecstasy with them, and be changed into another man.	6 Allora irromperà su di te lo spirito del Signore e ti metterai a fare il profeta insieme con loro e sarai trasformato in un altro uomo.
7 When these signs have occurred, act as occasion serves, for God is with you.	7 Quando ti saranno accaduti questi segni, agisci secondo l'occasione, perché Dio è con te.
8 You wil then go down, ahead of me, to Gilgal, and I shall join you there to make burnt offerings and tooffer communion sacrifices. You must wait seven days for me to come to you, and I shal then reveal to you whatyou must do.'	8 Mi precederai a Gàlgala, ed ecco che io verrò da te per offrire olocausti e immolare sacrifici di comunione. Aspetterai sette giorni, finché io venga da te, allora ti indicherò quello che dovrai fare".
9 As soon as he had turned his back to leave Samuel, God changed his heart. And al these signsoccurred that very day . . .	9 Quando voltò le sue spalle per lasciare Samuele, Dio gli trasformò il cuore, e tutti quei segni si avverarono in quello stesso giorno.
10 From there, they came to Gibeah: and there was a group of prophets coming to meet him! The spiritof God seized on him and he fell into ecstasy with them.	10 Giunti là a Gàbaa, ecco che gli venne incontro un gruppo di profeti. Allora lo spirito di Dio irruppe su di lui, ed egli si mise a fare il profeta in mezzo ad essi.
11 Seeing him prophesying with the prophets, al the people who had known him previously said to oneanother, 'What has come over the son of Kish? Is Saul one of the prophets too?'	11 Accadde che chi lo conosceva da tempo, quando lo vide fare il profeta tra i profeti, si dicevano l'un l'altro: "Che è successo al figlio di Kis? Perfino Saul è tra i profeti?".
12 And one of the local people retorted, 'But who is their father?' Hence the origin of the proverb: Is Saulone of the prophets too?	12 Uno del luogo disse: "E chi è il loro padre?". Per questo motivo diventò proverbiale il detto: "Perfino Saul è tra i profeti?".
13 When he came out of his ecstasy, he went into Gibeah.	13 Finito di agire da profeta giunse alla collina.
14 Saul's uncle asked him and his servant, 'Where have you been?' 'Looking for the donkeys,' hereplied, 'and when we could not find them anywhere, we went to Samuel.'	14 Lo zio di Saul domandò a lui e al suo servo: "Dove siete andati?". Rispose: "A cercare le asine, ma visto che non c'erano, siamo andati da Samuele".
15 Saul's uncle said, 'Tel me please what Samuel said to you.'	15 Riprese lo zio di Saul: "Raccontami quello che vi ha detto Samuele".
16 Saul said to his uncle, 'He merely told us that the donkeys were already found,' but did not mentionanything that Samuel had said about the kingship.	16 Saul rispose a suo zio: "Ci ha assicurato che le asine erano state ritrovate". Ma il fatto della regalità, di cui aveva parlato Samuele, non glielo raccontò.
17 Samuel summoned the people to Yahweh at Mizpah	17 Samuele convocò il popolo presso il Signore a Mizpa,
18 and said to the Israelites, 'Yahweh, God of Israel, says this, "I brought Israel out of Egypt anddelivered you from the power of the Egyptians and of al the kingdoms that were oppressing you."	18 e disse ai figli d'Israele: "Così dice il Signore Dio d'Israele: "Io ho tratto Israele dall'Egitto e vi ho liberato dalla mano dell'Egitto e dalla mano di tutti i regni che vi opprimevano.
19 But today you have rejected your God, him who saves you from al your difficulties and troubles; andyou have said, "No, you must set a king over us." Very well, take your positions before Yahweh, tribe by tribeand clan by clan.'	19 Ma voi oggi rigettate il vostro Dio, lui che vi salva da tutti i vostri mali e dalle vostre angustie, e gli dite: Costituisci un re su di noi!". Or dunque presentatevi davanti al Signore per tribù e per casati".
20 Samuel then made al the tribes of Israel come forward, and the lot indicated the tribe of Benjamin.	20 Samuele fece avvicinare tutte le tribù d'Israele, e la sorte cadde sulla tribù di Beniamino.
21 He then made the tribe of Benjamin come forward clan by clan, and the lot indicated the clan ofMatri; he then made the clan of Matri come forward one by one, and the lot indicated Saul son of Kish, but whenthey looked for him, he was not to be found.	21 Fece avvicinare la tribù di Beniamino per parentadi e la sorte designò il parentado di Matri; fece allora avvicinare il parentado di Matri, per individui e la sorte designò Saul figlio di Kis. Lo ricercarono, ma non fu trovato.
22 Again they consulted Yahweh, 'Has the man come here?' Yahweh replied, 'There he is, hidingamong the baggage.'	22 Consultarono ancora il Signore: "L'uomo è venuto qui?". Rispose il Signore: "Eccolo, sta nascosto tra i bagagli!".
23 So they ran and fetched him out and, as he stood among the people, he was head and shoulderstal er than any of them.	23 Corsero a prenderlo di là ed egli si presentò in mezzo al popolo: era più alto di tutti dalla spalla in su.
24 Samuel then said to all the people, 'You have seen the man whom Yahweh has chosen, and thatamong the whole people he has no equal.' And all the people acclaimed him, shouting, 'Long live the king!'	24 Allora disse Samuele a tutto il popolo: "Avete veduto, dunque, quello che il Signore si è eletto? Non ce n'è uno come lui fra tutto il popolo". E tutto il popolo acclamò gridando: "Viva il re!".
25 Samuel then explained the king's constitutional position to the people and inscribed this in a bookwhich he placed before Yahweh. Samuel then sent al the people away, everyone back to his home.	25 Allora Samuele proclamò al popolo il diritto della regalità; lo scrisse in un libro e lo depose davanti al Signore. Poi Samuele congedò tutto il popolo, ognuno a casa sua.
26 Saul too went home to Gibeah and with him went those strong men whose hearts God had touched.	26 Anche Saul andò a casa sua a Gàbaa, lo seguirono i valorosi a cui Dio aveva toccato il cuore.
27 But there were some scoundrels who said, 'How can this fellow save us?' These treated him withcontempt and offered him no present.	27 Ma certi maligni dissero: "Che salvezza ci porterà questo tale?". E così lo disprezzarono e non gli portarono doni. Ma Saul si comportò come chi non sente.
