Revelation 9

NEW JERUSALEM	SAGRADA BIBLIA
1 Then the fifth angel blew his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fal en from heaven onto the earth, andthe angel was given the key to the shaft leading down to the Abyss.	1 O quinto anjo tocou a trombeta. Vi então uma estrela cair do céu na terra, e foi-lhe dada a chave do poço do abismo;
2 When he unlocked the shaft of the Abyss, smoke rose out of the Abyss like the smoke from a hugefurnace so that the sun and the sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss,	2 ela o abriu e saiu do poço uma fumaça como a de uma grande fornalha. O sol e o ar obscureceram-se com a fumaça do poço.
3 and out of the smoke dropped locusts onto the earth: they were given the powers that scorpions haveon the earth:	3 Da fumaça saíram gafanhotos pela terra, e foi-lhes dado poder semelhante ao dos escorpiões da terra.
4 they were forbidden to harm any fields or crops or trees and told to attack only those people who werewithout God's seal on their foreheads.	4 Mas foi-lhes dito que não causassem dano à erva, verdura, ou árvore alguma, mas somente aos homens que não têm o selo de Deus na fronte.
5 They were not to kil them, but to give them anguish for five months, and the anguish was to be theanguish of a scorpion's sting.	5 Foi-lhes ordenado que não os matassem, mas os afligissem por cinco meses. Seu tormento era como o da picada do escorpião.
6 When this happens, people wil long for death and not find it anywhere; they wil want to die and deathwil evade them.	6 Naqueles dias, os homens buscarão a morte e não a conseguirão; desejarão morrer, e a morte fugirá deles.
7 These locusts looked like horses armoured for battle; they had what looked like gold crowns on theirheads, and their faces looked human,	7 O aspecto desses gafanhotos era o de cavalos aparelhados para a guerra. Nas suas cabeças havia uma espécie de coroa com reflexos dourados. Seus rostos eram como rostos de homem,
8 and their hair was like women's hair, and teeth like lion's teeth.	8 seus cabelos como os de mulher e seus dentes, como os dentes de leão.
9 They had body-armour like iron breastplates, and the noise of their wings sounded like the racket ofchariots with many horses charging.	9 Seus tórax pareciam envoltos em ferro, e o ruído de suas asas era como o ruído de carros de muitos cavalos, correndo para a guerra.
10 Their tails were like scorpions' tails, with stings, and with their tails they were able to torture people forfive months.	10 Tinham caudas semelhantes à do escorpião, com ferrões e o poder de afligir os homens por cinco meses.
11 As their leader they had their emperor, the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon,and in Greek Apol yon.	11 Têm eles por rei o anjo do abismo; chama-se em hebraico Abadon, e em grego, Apolion.
12 That was the first of the disasters; there are stil two more to come.	12 Terminado assim o primeiro ai, eis que, depois dele, vêm ainda dois outros.
13 The sixth angel blew his trumpet, and I heard a single voice issuing from the four horns of the goldenaltar in God's presence.	13 O sexto anjo tocou a trombeta. Ouvi então uma voz que vinha dos quatro cantos do altar de ouro, que está diante de Deus,
14 It spoke to the sixth angel with the trumpet, and said, 'Release the four angels that are chained up atthe great river Euphrates.'	14 e que dizia ao sexto anjo que tinha a trombeta: Solta os quatro Anjos que estão acorrentados à beira do grande rio Eufrates.
15 These four angels had been ready for this hour of this day of this month of this year, and ready todestroy a third of the human race.	15 Então foram soltos os quatro Anjos que se conservavam preparados para a hora, o dia, o mês e o ano da matança da terça parte dos homens...
16 I learnt how many there were in their army: twice ten thousand times ten thousand mounted men.	16 O número de soldados desta cavalaria era de duzentos milhões. Eu ouvi o seu número.
17 In my vision I saw the horses, and the riders with their breastplates of flame colour, hyacinth-blue andsulphur-yel ow; the horses had lions' heads, and fire, smoke and sulphur were coming from their mouths.	17 E foi assim que eu vi os cavalos e os que os montavam: estes últimos eram couraçados de uma chama sulfurosa azul. Os cavalos tinham crina como uma juba de leão e de suas narinas saíam fogo, fumaça e enxofre.
18 It was by these three plagues, the fire, the smoke and the sulphur coming from their mouths, that theone third of the human race was killed.	18 E uma terça parte dos homens foi morta por esses três flagelos {fogo, fumaça e enxofre} que lhes saíam das narinas.
19 Al the horses' power was in their mouths and their tails: their tails were like snakes, and had headswhich inflicted wounds.	19 Porque o poder nocivo dos cavalos estava também nas caudas; tinham cabeças como serpentes e causavam dano com elas.
20 But the rest of the human race, who escaped death by these plagues, refused either to abandon theirown handiwork or to stop worshipping devils, the idols made of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood that canneither see nor hear nor move.	20 Mas o restante dos homens, que não foram mortos por esses três flagelos, não se arrependeu das obras de suas mãos. Não cessaram de adorar o demônio e os ídolos de ouro, de prata, de bronze, de pedra e de madeira, que não podem ver, nem ouvir, nem andar.
21 Nor did they give up their murdering, or witchcraft, or fornication or stealing.	21 Não se arrependeram de seus homicídios, seus malefícios, suas imundícies e furtos.
