Revelation 9

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Then the fifth angel blew his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fal en from heaven onto the earth, andthe angel was given the key to the shaft leading down to the Abyss.	1 Cuando el quinto Angel tocó la trompeta, vi una estrella que había caído del cielo a la tierra. La estrella recibió la llave del pozo del Abismo,
2 When he unlocked the shaft of the Abyss, smoke rose out of the Abyss like the smoke from a hugefurnace so that the sun and the sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss,	2 y cuando abrió el pozo, comenzó a subir un humo, como el de un gran horno, que oscureció el sol y el aire.
3 and out of the smoke dropped locusts onto the earth: they were given the powers that scorpions haveon the earth:	3 Del humo salieron langostas que se expandieron por toda la tierra, y estas recibieron un poder como el que tienen los escorpiones de la tierra.
4 they were forbidden to harm any fields or crops or trees and told to attack only those people who werewithout God's seal on their foreheads.	4 Se les ordenó que no dañaran las praderas ni las plantas ni los árboles, sino solamente a los hombres que no llevaran la marca de Dios sobre la frente.
5 They were not to kil them, but to give them anguish for five months, and the anguish was to be theanguish of a scorpion's sting.	5 Se les permitió, no que los mataran, sino que los atormentaran durante cinco meses, con un dolor parecido al que produce la picadura del escorpión.
6 When this happens, people wil long for death and not find it anywhere; they wil want to die and deathwil evade them.	6 En aquellos días los hombres buscarán la muerte, y no la encontrarán; querrán morir, pero la muerte huirá de ellos.
7 These locusts looked like horses armoured for battle; they had what looked like gold crowns on theirheads, and their faces looked human,	7 Las langostas parecían caballos equipados para la guerra: tenían en su cabeza algo parecido a coronas doradas y su rostro era semejante al rostro humano.
8 and their hair was like women's hair, and teeth like lion's teeth.	8 Su cabello era como el de las mujeres y sus dientes como dientes de leones.
9 They had body-armour like iron breastplates, and the noise of their wings sounded like the racket ofchariots with many horses charging.	9 Su tórax parecía una coraza de hierro; y el zumbido de sus alas era como el ruido de carros de muchos caballos corriendo al combate.
10 Their tails were like scorpions' tails, with stings, and with their tails they were able to torture people forfive months.	10 Tenían colas con un aguijón como los escorpiones, y en ellas residía el poder para dañar a los hombres durante cinco meses.
11 As their leader they had their emperor, the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon,and in Greek Apol yon.	11 Su rey era el Angel del Abismo, cuyo nombre es «Destructor»: «Abadón», en hebreo, y «Apolión», en griego.
12 That was the first of the disasters; there are stil two more to come.	12 La primera calamidad ha pasado, pero sepan que todavía faltan dos más.
13 The sixth angel blew his trumpet, and I heard a single voice issuing from the four horns of the goldenaltar in God's presence.	13 Cuando el sexto Angel tocó la trompeta, escuché una voz que provenía de los cuatro ángulos del altar de oro que está delante de Dios.
14 It spoke to the sixth angel with the trumpet, and said, 'Release the four angels that are chained up atthe great river Euphrates.'	14 Y esa voz dijo al sexto Angel, al que tenía la trompeta: «Suelta a los cuatro Angeles que están encadenados junto al gran río Eufrates».
15 These four angels had been ready for this hour of this day of this month of this year, and ready todestroy a third of the human race.	15 Y fueron soltados los cuatro Angeles que estaban preparados para la hora, el día, el mes y el año en que debían exterminar a una tercera parte de los hombres.
16 I learnt how many there were in their army: twice ten thousand times ten thousand mounted men.	16 Su ejército constaba de doscientos millones de jinetes: yo pude oír este número.
17 In my vision I saw the horses, and the riders with their breastplates of flame colour, hyacinth-blue andsulphur-yel ow; the horses had lions' heads, and fire, smoke and sulphur were coming from their mouths.	17 En la visión vi así a los caballos y a los jinetes: los jinetes llevaban corazas de fuego, de jacinto y de azufre; la cabeza de los caballos se parecía a la de los leones, y su boca vomitaba fuego, humo y azufre.
18 It was by these three plagues, the fire, the smoke and the sulphur coming from their mouths, that theone third of the human race was killed.	18 Una tercera parte de los hombres fue exterminada por estas tres plagas: el fuego, el humo y el azufre que salía de la boca de los caballos.
19 Al the horses' power was in their mouths and their tails: their tails were like snakes, and had headswhich inflicted wounds.	19 Porque el poder de esos caballos reside en su boca y en sus colas: sus colas son como serpientes, que tienen cabezas con las cuales hacen daño.
20 But the rest of the human race, who escaped death by these plagues, refused either to abandon theirown handiwork or to stop worshipping devils, the idols made of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood that canneither see nor hear nor move.	20 Y el resto de los hombres que no habían sido dañados por las plagas, no se arrepintieron de sus obras ni dejaron de adorar a los demonios y a los ídolos de oro, de plata, de bronce, de piedra y de madera, que son incapaces de ver, de oír y de caminar.
21 Nor did they give up their murdering, or witchcraft, or fornication or stealing.	21 No, ellos no se arrepintieron de sus homicidios, ni de sus maleficios, ni de sus fornicaciones, ni de sus robos.
