Revelation 9

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Then the fifth angel blew his trumpet, and I saw a star that had fal en from heaven onto the earth, andthe angel was given the key to the shaft leading down to the Abyss.	1 Tocó el quinto Angel... Entonces vi una estrella que había caído del cielo a la tierra. Se le dio la llave del pozo del Abismo.
2 When he unlocked the shaft of the Abyss, smoke rose out of the Abyss like the smoke from a hugefurnace so that the sun and the sky were darkened by the smoke from the Abyss,	2 Abrió el pozo del Abismo y subió del pozo una humareda como la de un horno grande, y el sol y el aire se oscurecieron con la humareda del pozo.
3 and out of the smoke dropped locusts onto the earth: they were given the powers that scorpions haveon the earth:	3 De la humareda salieron langostas sobre la tierra, y se les dio un poder como el que tienen los escorpiones de la tierra.
4 they were forbidden to harm any fields or crops or trees and told to attack only those people who werewithout God's seal on their foreheads.	4 Se les dijo que no causaran daño a la hierba de la tierra, ni a nada verde, ni a ningún árbol; sólo a los hombres que no llevaran en la frente el sello de Dios.
5 They were not to kil them, but to give them anguish for five months, and the anguish was to be theanguish of a scorpion's sting.	5 Se les dio poder, no para matarlos, sino para atormentarlos durante cinco meses. El tormento que producen es como el del escorpión cuando pica a alguien.
6 When this happens, people wil long for death and not find it anywhere; they wil want to die and deathwil evade them.	6 En aquellos días, buscarán los hombres la muerte y no la encontrarán; desearán morir y la muerte huirá de ellos.
7 These locusts looked like horses armoured for battle; they had what looked like gold crowns on theirheads, and their faces looked human,	7 La apariencia de estas langostas era parecida a caballos preparados para la guerra; sobre sus cabezas tenían como coronas que parecían de oro; sus rostros eran como rostros humanos;
8 and their hair was like women's hair, and teeth like lion's teeth.	8 tenían cabellos como cabellos de mujer, y sus dientes eran como de león;
9 They had body-armour like iron breastplates, and the noise of their wings sounded like the racket ofchariots with many horses charging.	9 tenían corazas como corazas de hierro, y el ruido de sus alas como el estrépito de carros de muchos caballos que corren al combate;
10 Their tails were like scorpions' tails, with stings, and with their tails they were able to torture people forfive months.	10 tienen colas parecidas a las de los escorpiones, con aguijones, y en sus colas, el poder de causar daño a los hombres durante cinco meses.
11 As their leader they had their emperor, the angel of the Abyss, whose name in Hebrew is Abaddon,and in Greek Apol yon.	11 Tienen sobre sí, como rey, al Angel del Abismo, llamado en hebreo «Abaddón», y en griego «Apolíon».
12 That was the first of the disasters; there are stil two more to come.	12 El primer ¡Ay! ha pasado. Mira que detrás vienen todavía otros dos.
13 The sixth angel blew his trumpet, and I heard a single voice issuing from the four horns of the goldenaltar in God's presence.	13 Tocó el sexto Angel... Entonces oí una voz que salía de los cuatro cuernos del altar de oro que está delante de Dios;
14 It spoke to the sixth angel with the trumpet, and said, 'Release the four angels that are chained up atthe great river Euphrates.'	14 y decía al sexto Angel que tenía la trompeta: «Suelta a los cuatro Angeles atados junto al gran río Eufrates».
15 These four angels had been ready for this hour of this day of this month of this year, and ready todestroy a third of the human race.	15 Y fueron soltados los cuatro Angeles que estaban preparados para la hora, el día, el mes y el año, para matar a la tercera parte de los hombres.
16 I learnt how many there were in their army: twice ten thousand times ten thousand mounted men.	16 El número de su tropa de caballería era de 200.000.000; pude oír su número.
17 In my vision I saw the horses, and the riders with their breastplates of flame colour, hyacinth-blue andsulphur-yel ow; the horses had lions' heads, and fire, smoke and sulphur were coming from their mouths.	17 Así vi en la visión los caballos y a los que los montaban: tenían corazas de color de fuego, de jacinto y de azufre; las cabezas de los caballos como cabezas de león y de sus bocas salía fuego y humo y azufre.
18 It was by these three plagues, the fire, the smoke and the sulphur coming from their mouths, that theone third of the human race was killed.	18 Y fue exterminada la tercera parte de los hombres por estas tres plagas: por el fuego, el humo y el azufre que salían de sus bocas.
19 Al the horses' power was in their mouths and their tails: their tails were like snakes, and had headswhich inflicted wounds.	19 Porque el poder de los caballos está en su boca y en sus colas; pues sus colas, semejantes a serpientes, tienen cabezas y con ellas causan daño.
20 But the rest of the human race, who escaped death by these plagues, refused either to abandon theirown handiwork or to stop worshipping devils, the idols made of gold, silver, bronze, stone and wood that canneither see nor hear nor move.	20 Pero los demás hombres, los no exterminados por estas plagas, no se convirtieron de las obras de sus manos; no dejaron de adorar a los demonios y a los ídolos de oro, de plata, de bronce, de piedra y de madera, que no pueden ver ni oír ni caminar.
21 Nor did they give up their murdering, or witchcraft, or fornication or stealing.	21 No se convirtieron de sus asesinatos ni de sus hechicerías ni de sus fornicaciones ni de sus rapiñas.
