1 Again the Israelites began doing what is evil in Yahweh's eyes, and Yahweh delivered them into thepower of the Philistines for forty years.	1 Ma i figliuoli d'Israele tornarono di nuovo a far il male nel cospetto del Signore: il quale li diede in potere dei Filistei per quarant'anni.
2 There was a man of Zorah of the tribe of Dan, cal ed Manoah. His wife was barren; she had borne nochildren.	2 Or eravi un uomo di Saraa, e della stirpe di Dan, per nome Manue, che avea la moglie sterile.
3 The Angel of Yahweh appeared to this woman and said to her, 'You are barren and have had no child,but you are going to conceive and give birth to a son.	3 E apparve a lei l’Angelo del Signore, e le disse: Tu sei sterile, e senza figliuoli, ma concepirai, e partorirai un figliuolo:
4 From now on, take great care. Drink no wine or fermented liquor, and eat nothing unclean.	4 Guardati adunque dal bere vino, o sicera, e non mangiar niente d'immondo:
5 For you are going to conceive and give birth to a son. No razor is to touch his head, for the boy is to beGod's nazirite from his mother's womb; and he wil start rescuing Israel from the power of the Philistines.'	5 Perocché tu concepirai, e partorirai un figliuolo, la testa del quale non sarà tocca dal rasoio, perocché egli sarà Nazareo di Dio fin dalla sua infanzia, e dal sen della madre: e comincerà a liberare Israele dalle mani de' Filistei.
6 The woman then went and told her husband, 'A man of God has just come to me, who looked like theAngel of God, so majestic was he. I did not ask him where he came from, and he did not tel me his name.	6 Ed ella andata a trovar suo marito, gli disse: È venuto a me un uomo di Dio, che avea il volto di un Angelo, e terribile fuor di modo. E avendogli io domandato chi egli si fosse, e donde venisse, o qual fosse il suo nome, non ha voluto dirmelo:
7 But he said to me, "You are going to conceive and wil give birth to a son. From now on, drink no wineor fermented liquor, and eat nothing unclean. For the boy is to be God's nazirite from his mother's womb to hisdying day." '	7 Ma mi ha risposto: Ecco che tu concepirai, e partorirai un figliuolo: guardati dal bere vino, o sicera, e non mangiar niente d'immondo: perocché il bambino sarà Nazareo di Dio fin dalla sua infanzia, e dal seno di sua madre fino al dì della sua morte.
8 Manoah then pleaded with Yahweh and said, 'I beg you, Lord, let the man of God that you sent cometo us again and instruct us what to do about the child when he is born.'	8 Manue pertanto pregó il Signore, e disse: Ti prego, o Signore, che l’uomo di Dio mandato da te torni di nuovo, e ci avvisi quello che dobbiam fare del bambino che nascerà.
9 Yahweh heard Manoah's prayer, and the Angel of Yahweh visited the woman again while she wassitting in a field and when her husband Manoah was not with her.	9 E il Signore esaudì la preghiera di Manue, e l’Angelo di Dio apparve di nuovo alla moglie di lui, che stava nel campo: ma il suo marito Manue non era con lei. Ed ella veduto l'Angelo,
10 The woman quickly ran and told her husband, 'Look,' she said, 'the man who came to me the otherday has appeared to me again.'	10 Si alzò in fretta e corse al marito dicendo: Ecco l'uomo veduto già da me mi è apparito.
11 Manoah got up, followed his wife, came to the man and said to him, 'Are you the man who spoke tothis woman?' He replied, 'I am.'	11 Ed egli si mosse, e andò dietro a sua moglie: e arrivato presso a quell'uomo gli disse: Se' tu che hai parlato a mia moglie? E quegli rispose: Son io.
12 Manoah then said, 'When your words come true, what wil be the boy's way of life?'	12 E Manue a lui: Quando si sarà verificata la tua parola, che vuoi (disse), che faccia il bambino? O da quali cose dee astenersi?
13 The Angel of Yahweh replied to Manoah, 'From everything that I forbade this woman, let her abstain.	13 Disse a Manue l’Angelo del Signore: La tua moglie si astenga da tutte quelle cose che io le ho dette:
14 Let her swal ow nothing that comes from the vine, let her drink no wine or fermented liquor, let her eatnothing unclean and let her obey al the orders that I have given her.'	14 E non mangi di tutto quello che nasce dalla vigna: non beva vino, nè sicera, nulla mangi d’immondo: e osservi e adempia quello che le ho ordinato.
15 Manoah then said to the Angel of Yahweh, 'Al ow us to detain you while we prepare a kid for you' --for Manoah did not know that this was the Angel of Yahweh.	15 E Manue disse all'Angelo del Signore: Di grazia esaudisci le mie preghiere, e che noi ti uccidiamo un capretto.
16 The Angel of Yahweh said to Manoah, 'Even if you did detain me, I should not eat your food; but ifyou wish to prepare a burnt offering, offer it to Yahweh.'	16 Risposegli l’Angelo: Quantunque tu mi facessi violenza, non mangerei del tuo pane: ma se vuoi fare un olocausto, offeriscilo al Signore. E Manue non sapeva, come quegli era un Angelo del Signore.
17 Manoah then said to the Angel of Yahweh, 'What is your name, so that we may honour you whenyour words come true?'	17 E disse: Che nome è il tuo, affinchè adempiuta che sia la tua parola, noi ti rendiamo onore?
18 The Angel of Yahweh replied, 'Why ask my name? It is a name of wonder.'	18 E quegli rispose a lui: Perchè cerchi del nome mio, che è ammirabile?
19 Manoah then took the kid and the oblation and offered it on the rock as a burnt offering to Yahwehthe Wonderworker. Manoah and his wife looked on.	19 Prese adunque Manue un capretto, e le libagioni, e le pose sopra una pietra, offerendo il tutto al Signore che fa cose mirabili: ed egli, e la sua moglie stavano osservando.
20 Now, as the flame rose heavenwards from the altar, the Angel of Yahweh ascended in this flamebefore the eyes of Manoah and his wife, and they fel face downwards on the ground.	20 E mentre la fiamma dell'altare saliva al cielo, l’Angelo del Signore salì insieme colla fiamma. La qual cosa veduta avendo Manue, e la sua moglie cadder bocconi per terra,
21 After this, the Angel of Yahweh did not appear any more to Manoah and his wife, but Manoahunderstood that this had been the Angel of Yahweh.	21 E più non videro l'Angelo del Signore: e subito comprese Manue, come quegli era un Angelo del Signore,
22 And Manoah said to his wife, 'We are certain to die, because we have seen God.'	22 E disse a sua moglie: Noi morremo sicuramente, perchè abbiamo veduto Dio.
23 His wife replied, 'If Yahweh had meant to kil us, he would not have accepted a burnt offering andoblation from us, he would not have let us see all this and, at the same time, have told us such things.'	23 Rispose la donna a lui: Se il Signore volesse ucciderci, non avrebbe accettato dalle nostre mani l'olocausto e le libagioni, e non avrebbe fatte vedere a noi tutte queste cose, nè ci avrebbe predetto il futuro. ,
24 The woman gave birth to a son and cal ed him Samson. The child grew, and Yahweh blessed him;	24 Ella adunque partorì un figliuolo, e nomollo Samson. E il bambino crebbe, e il Signore lo benedisse.
25 and the spirit of Yahweh began to stir him in the Camp of Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.	25 E lo spirito del Signore cominciò ad operare in lui, quando era negli alloggiamenti di Dan tra Saraa, ed Esthaol.
