Judges 13

NEW JERUSALEM	JERUSALEM
1 Again the Israelites began doing what is evil in Yahweh's eyes, and Yahweh delivered them into thepower of the Philistines for forty years.	1 Les Israélites recommencèrent à faire ce qui est mal aux yeux de Yahvé, et Yahvé les livra aux mainsdes Philistins pendant 40 ans.
2 There was a man of Zorah of the tribe of Dan, cal ed Manoah. His wife was barren; she had borne nochildren.	2 Il y avait un homme de Coréa, du clan de Dan, nommé Manoah. Sa femme était stérile et n'avait paseu d'enfant.
3 The Angel of Yahweh appeared to this woman and said to her, 'You are barren and have had no child,but you are going to conceive and give birth to a son.	3 L'Ange de Yahvé apparut à cette femme et lui dit: "Tu es stérile et tu n'as pas eu d'enfant
4 From now on, take great care. Drink no wine or fermented liquor, and eat nothing unclean.	4 mais tu vas concevoir et tu enfanteras un fils. Désormais, prends bien garde! Ne bois ni vin, niboisson fermentée, et ne mange rien d'impur.
5 For you are going to conceive and give birth to a son. No razor is to touch his head, for the boy is to beGod's nazirite from his mother's womb; and he wil start rescuing Israel from the power of the Philistines.'	5 Car tu vas concevoir et tu enfanteras un fils. Le rasoir ne passera pas sur sa tête, car l'enfant seranazir de Dieu dès le sein de sa mère. C'est lui qui commencera à sauver Israël de la main des Philistins."
6 The woman then went and told her husband, 'A man of God has just come to me, who looked like theAngel of God, so majestic was he. I did not ask him where he came from, and he did not tel me his name.	6 La femme rentra et dit à son mari: "Un homme de Dieu m'a abordée qui avait l'apparence de l'Angede Dieu, tant il était majestueux. Je ne lui ai pas demandé d'où il venait et il ne m'a pas fait connaître son nom.
7 But he said to me, "You are going to conceive and wil give birth to a son. From now on, drink no wineor fermented liquor, and eat nothing unclean. For the boy is to be God's nazirite from his mother's womb to hisdying day." '	7 Mais il m'a dit: Tu vas concevoir et tu enfanteras un fils. Désormais ne bois ni vin, ni boissonfermentée, et ne mange rien d'impur, car l'enfant sera nazir de Dieu depuis le sein de sa mère jusqu'au jour de samort!"
8 Manoah then pleaded with Yahweh and said, 'I beg you, Lord, let the man of God that you sent cometo us again and instruct us what to do about the child when he is born.'	8 Alors Manoah implora Yahvé et dit: "Je t'en prie, Seigneur! Que l'homme de Dieu que tu as envoyévienne encore une fois vers nous, et qu'il nous apprenne ce que nous aurons à faire à l'enfant lorsqu'il sera né!"
9 Yahweh heard Manoah's prayer, and the Angel of Yahweh visited the woman again while she wassitting in a field and when her husband Manoah was not with her.	9 Dieu exauça Manoah et l'Ange de Dieu vint de nouveau trouver la femme, alors qu'elle était assisedans la campagne, et que Manoah, son mari, n'était pas avec elle.
10 The woman quickly ran and told her husband, 'Look,' she said, 'the man who came to me the otherday has appeared to me again.'	10 Vite, la femme courut informer son mari et lui dit: "Voici que m'est apparu l'homme qui est venuvers moi l'autre jour."
11 Manoah got up, followed his wife, came to the man and said to him, 'Are you the man who spoke tothis woman?' He replied, 'I am.'	11 Manoah se leva, suivit sa femme, vint vers l'homme et lui dit: "Es-tu l'homme qui a parlé à cettefemme?" Et il répondit: "C'est moi" --
12 Manoah then said, 'When your words come true, what wil be the boy's way of life?'	12 "Quand ta parole s'accomplira, lui dit Manoah, quelle sera la règle pour l'enfant et que devra-t-ilfaire?"
13 The Angel of Yahweh replied to Manoah, 'From everything that I forbade this woman, let her abstain.	13 L'Ange de Yahvé répondit à Manoah: "Tout ce que j'ai interdit à cette femme, qu'elle s'en abstienne.
14 Let her swal ow nothing that comes from the vine, let her drink no wine or fermented liquor, let her eatnothing unclean and let her obey al the orders that I have given her.'	14 Qu'elle n'absorbe rien de ce qui provient de la vigne, qu'elle ne boive ni vin, ni boisson fermentée,qu'elle ne mange rien d'impur, et qu'elle observe tout ce que je lui ai prescrit."
15 Manoah then said to the Angel of Yahweh, 'Al ow us to detain you while we prepare a kid for you' --for Manoah did not know that this was the Angel of Yahweh.	15 Manoah dit alors à l'Ange de Yahvé: "Permets que nous te retenions et que nous t'apprêtions unchevreau."
16 The Angel of Yahweh said to Manoah, 'Even if you did detain me, I should not eat your food; but ifyou wish to prepare a burnt offering, offer it to Yahweh.'	16 Car Manoah ne savait pas que c'était l'Ange de Yahvé. Et l'Ange de Yahvé dit à Manoah: "Quandbien même tu me retiendrais, je ne mangerais pas de ta nourriture, mais si tu désires préparer un holocauste,offre-le à Yahvé."
17 Manoah then said to the Angel of Yahweh, 'What is your name, so that we may honour you whenyour words come true?'	17 Manoah dit alors à l'Ange de Yahvé: "Quel est ton nom, afin que, lorsque ta parole sera accomplie,nous puissions t'honorer?"
18 The Angel of Yahweh replied, 'Why ask my name? It is a name of wonder.'	18 L'Ange de Yahvé lui répondit: "Pourquoi t'informer de mon nom? Il est merveilleux."
19 Manoah then took the kid and the oblation and offered it on the rock as a burnt offering to Yahwehthe Wonderworker. Manoah and his wife looked on.	19 Alors Manoah prit le chevreau ainsi que l'oblation et il l'offrit en holocauste, sur le rocher, à Yahvéqui opère des choses merveilleuses. Manoah et sa femme regardaient.
20 Now, as the flame rose heavenwards from the altar, the Angel of Yahweh ascended in this flamebefore the eyes of Manoah and his wife, and they fel face downwards on the ground.	20 Or comme la flamme montait de l'autel vers le ciel, l'Ange de Yahvé monta dans cette flamme sousles yeux de Manoah et de sa femme, et ils tombèrent la face contre terre.
21 After this, the Angel of Yahweh did not appear any more to Manoah and his wife, but Manoahunderstood that this had been the Angel of Yahweh.	21 L'Ange de Yahvé ne se montra plus désormais à Manoah ni à sa femme, et Manoah comprit alorsque c'était l'Ange de Yahvé.
22 And Manoah said to his wife, 'We are certain to die, because we have seen God.'	22 "Nous allons certainement mourir, dit Manoah à sa femme, car nous avons vu Dieu" --
23 His wife replied, 'If Yahweh had meant to kil us, he would not have accepted a burnt offering andoblation from us, he would not have let us see all this and, at the same time, have told us such things.'	23 "Si Yahvé avait eu l'intention de nous faire mourir, lui répondit sa femme, il n'aurait accepté denotre main ni holocauste ni oblation, il ne nous aurait pas fait voir tout cela et, à l'instant même, fait entendrepareille chose."
24 The woman gave birth to a son and cal ed him Samson. The child grew, and Yahweh blessed him;	24 La femme mit au monde un fils et elle le nomma Samson. L'enfant grandit, Yahvé le bénit,
25 and the spirit of Yahweh began to stir him in the Camp of Dan, between Zorah and Eshtaol.	25 et l'esprit de Yahvé commença à l'agiter au camp de Dan, entre Coréa et Eshtaol.
