1 John 5

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is a child of God, and whoever loves the father loves the son.	1 El que cree que Jesús es el Cristo ha nacido de Dios; y el que ama al Padre ama también al que ha nacido de él,
2 In this way we know that we love God's children, when we love God and keep his commandments.	2 La señal de que amamos a los hijos de Dios es que amamos a Dios y cumplimos sus mandamientos.
3 This is what the love of God is: keeping his commandments. Nor are his commandments burdensome,	3 El amor a Dios consiste en cumplir sus mandamientos, y sus mandamientos no son una carga,
4 because every child of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world --our faith.	4 porque el que ha nacido de Dios, vence al mundo. Y la victoria que triunfa sobre el mundo es nuestra fe.
5 Who can overcome the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?	5 ¿Quién es el que vence al mundo, sino el que cree que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios?
6 He it is who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ, not with water alone but with water and blood, andit is the Spirit that bears witness, for the Spirit is Truth.	6 Jesucristo vino por el agua y por la sangre; no solamente con el agua, sino con el agua y con la sangre. Y el Espíritu es la verdad.
7 So there are three witnesses,	7 Son tres los que dan testimonio:
8 the Spirit, water and blood; and the three of them coincide.	8 el Espíritu, el agua y la sangre; y los tres están de acuerdo.
9 If we accept the testimony of human witnesses, God's testimony is greater, for this is God's testimonywhich he gave about his Son.	9 Si damos fe al testimonio de los hombres, con mayor razón tenemos que aceptar el testimonio de Dios. Y Dios ha dado testimonio de su Hijo.
10 Whoever believes in the Son of God has this testimony within him, and whoever does not believe ismaking God a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his Son.	10 El que cree en el Hijo de Dios tiene en su corazón el testimonio de Dios. El que no cree a Dios lo hace pasar por mentiroso, porque no cree en el testimonio que Dios ha dado acerca de su Hijo.
11 This is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.	11 Y el testimonio es este: Dios nos dio la Vida eterna, y esa Vida está en su Hijo.
12 Whoever has the Son has life, and whoever has not the Son of God has not life.	12 El que está unido al Hijo, tiene la Vida; el que no lo está, no tiene la Vida.
13 I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that youhave eternal life.	13 Les he escrito estas cosas, a ustedes que creen en el nombre del Hijo de Dios, para que sepan que tienen la Vida eterna.
14 Our fearlessness towards him consists in this, that if we ask anything in accordance with his wil hehears us.	14 Tenemos plena confianza de que Dios nos escucha si le pedimos algo conforme a su voluntad.
15 And if we know that he listens to whatever we ask him, we know that we already possess whatever wehave asked of him.	15 Y sabiendo que él nos escucha en todo lo que le pedimos, sabemos que ya poseemos lo que le hemos pedido.
16 If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that is not a deadly sin, he has only to pray, and God wil givelife to this brother -- provided that it is not a deadly sin. There is sin that leads to death and I am not saying youmust pray about that.	16 El que ve a su hermano cometer un pecado que no lleva a la muerte, que ore y le dará la Vida. Me refiero a los que cometen pecados que no conducen a la muerte, porque hay un pecado que lleva a la muerte; por este no les pido que oren.
17 Every kind of wickedness is sin, but not al sin leads to death.	17 Aunque toda maldad es pecado, no todo pecado lleva a la muerte.
18 We are wel aware that no one who is a child of God sins, because he who was born from Godprotects him, and the Evil One has no hold over him.	18 Sabemos que el que ha nacido de Dios no peca, sino que el Hijo de Dios lo protege, y el Maligno no le puede hacer nada.
19 We are wel aware that we are from God, and the whole world is in the power of the Evil One.	19 Sabemos que somos de Dios, y que el mundo entero está bajo el poder del Maligno.
20 We are wel aware also that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that wemay know the One who is true. We are in the One who is true as we are in his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the trueGod and this is eternal life. Children, be on your guard against false gods.	20 Y sabemos también que el Hijo de Dios ha venido y nos ha dado inteligencia para que conozcamos al que es Verdadero; y nosotros permanecemos en el que es Verdadero, en su Hijo Jesucristo. El es el Dios verdadero y la Vida eterna.
	21 Hijitos míos, cuídense de los ídolos...
