1 John 5

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Whoever believes that Jesus is the Christ is a child of God, and whoever loves the father loves the son.	1 Todo el que cree que Jesús es el Cristo ha nacido de Dios; y todo el que ama a aquel que da el ser ama también al que ha nacido de él.
2 In this way we know that we love God's children, when we love God and keep his commandments.	2 En esto conocemos que amamos a los hijos de Dios: si amamos a Dios y cumplimos sus mandamientos.
3 This is what the love of God is: keeping his commandments. Nor are his commandments burdensome,	3 Pues en esto consiste el amor a Dios: en que guardemos sus mandamientos. Y sus mandamientos no son pesados,
4 because every child of God overcomes the world. And this is the victory that has overcome the world --our faith.	4 pues todo lo que ha nacido de Dios vence al mundo. Y lo que ha conseguido la victoria sobre el mundo es nuestra fe.
5 Who can overcome the world but the one who believes that Jesus is the Son of God?	5 Pues, ¿quien es el que vence al mundo sino el que cree que Jesús es el Hijo de Dios?
6 He it is who came by water and blood, Jesus Christ, not with water alone but with water and blood, andit is the Spirit that bears witness, for the Spirit is Truth.	6 Este es el que vino por el agua y por la sangre: Jesucristo; no solamente en el agua, sino en el agua y en la sangre. Y el Espíritu es el que da testimonio, porque el Espíritu es la Verdad.
7 So there are three witnesses,	7 Pues tres son los que dan testimonio:
8 the Spirit, water and blood; and the three of them coincide.	8 el Espíritu, el agua y la sangre, y los tres convienen en lo mismo.
9 If we accept the testimony of human witnesses, God's testimony is greater, for this is God's testimonywhich he gave about his Son.	9 Si aceptamos el testimonio de los hombres, mayor es el testimonio de Dios, pues este es el testimonio de Dios, que ha testimoniado acerca de su Hijo.
10 Whoever believes in the Son of God has this testimony within him, and whoever does not believe ismaking God a liar, because he has not believed the testimony God has given about his Son.	10 Quien cree en el Hijo de Dios tiene el testimonio en sí mismo. Quien no cree a Dios le hace mentiroso, porque no ha creído en el testimonio que Dios ha dado acerca de su Hijo.
11 This is the testimony: God has given us eternal life, and this life is in his Son.	11 Y este es el testimonio: que Dios nos ha dado vida eterna y esta vida está en su Hijo.
12 Whoever has the Son has life, and whoever has not the Son of God has not life.	12 Quien tiene al Hijo, tiene la vida; quien no tiene al Hijo, no tiene la vida.
13 I have written this to you who believe in the name of the Son of God so that you may know that youhave eternal life.	13 Os he escrito estas cosas a los que creéis en el nombre del Hijo de Dios, para que os deis cuenta de que tenéis vida eterna.
14 Our fearlessness towards him consists in this, that if we ask anything in accordance with his wil hehears us.	14 En esto está la confianza que tenemos en él: en que si le pedimos algo según su voluntad, nos escucha.
15 And if we know that he listens to whatever we ask him, we know that we already possess whatever wehave asked of him.	15 Y si sabemos que nos escucha en lo que le pedimos, sabemos que tenemos conseguido lo que hayamos pedido.
16 If anyone sees his brother commit a sin that is not a deadly sin, he has only to pray, and God wil givelife to this brother -- provided that it is not a deadly sin. There is sin that leads to death and I am not saying youmust pray about that.	16 Si alguno ve que su hermano comete un pecado que no es de muerte, pida y le dará vida - a los que cometan pecados que no son de muerte pues hay un pecado que es de muerte, por el cual no digo que pida -.
17 Every kind of wickedness is sin, but not al sin leads to death.	17 Toda iniquidad es pecado, pero hay pecado que no es de muerte.
18 We are wel aware that no one who is a child of God sins, because he who was born from Godprotects him, and the Evil One has no hold over him.	18 Sabemos que todo el que ha nacido de Dios no peca, sino que el Engendrado de Dios le guarda y el Maligno no llega a tocarle.
19 We are wel aware that we are from God, and the whole world is in the power of the Evil One.	19 Sabemos que somos de Dios y que el mundo entero yace en poder del Maligno.
20 We are wel aware also that the Son of God has come, and has given us understanding so that wemay know the One who is true. We are in the One who is true as we are in his Son, Jesus Christ. He is the trueGod and this is eternal life. Children, be on your guard against false gods.	20 Pero sabemos que el Hijo de Dios ha venido y nos ha dado inteligencia para que conozcamos al Verdadero. Nosotros estamos en el Verdadero, en su Hijo Jesucristo. Este es el Dios verdadero y la Vida eterna.
	21 Hijos míos, guardaos de los ídolos...
