1 John 2

NEW JERUSALEM	EL LIBRO DEL PUEBLO DE DIOS
1 My children, I am writing this to prevent you from sinning; but if anyone does sin, we have an advocatewith the Father, Jesus Christ, the upright.	1 Hijos míos, les he escrito estas cosas para que no pequen. Pero si alguno peca, tenemos un defensor ante el Padre: Jesucristo, el Justo.
2 He is the sacrifice to expiate our sins, and not only ours, but also those of the whole world.	2 El es la Víctima propiciatoria por nuestros pecados, y no sólo por los nuestros, sino también por los del mundo entero.
3 In this way we know that we have come to know him, if we keep his commandments.	3 La señal de que lo conocemos, es que cumplimos sus mandamientos.
4 Whoever says, 'I know him' without keeping his commandments, is a liar, and truth has no place in him.	4 El que dice: «Yo lo conozco», y no cumple sus mandamientos, es un mentiroso, y la verdad no está en él.
5 But anyone who does keep his word, in such a one God's love truly reaches its perfection. This is theproof that we are in God.	5 Pero en aquel que cumple su palabra, el amor de Dios ha llegado verdaderamente a su plenitud. Esta es la señal de que vivimos en él.
6 Whoever claims to remain in him must act as he acted.	6 El que dice que permanece en él, debe proceder como él.
7 My dear friends, this is not a new commandment I am writing for you, but an old commandment that youhave had from the beginning; the old commandment is the message you have heard.	7 Queridos míos, no les doy un mandamiento nuevo, sino un mandamiento antiguo, el que aprendieron desde el principio: este mandamiento antiguo es la palabra que ustedes oyeron.
8 Yet in another way, I am writing a new commandment for you -- and this is true for you, just as much asfor him -- for darkness is passing away and the true light is already shining.	8 sin embargo, el mandamiento que les doy es nuevo. Y esto es verdad tanto en él como en ustedes, porque se disipan las tinieblas y ya brilla la verdadera luz.
9 Whoever claims to be in light but hates his brother is still in darkness.	9 El que dice que está en la luz y no ama a su hermano, está todavía en las tinieblas.
10 Anyone who loves his brother remains in light and there is in him nothing to make him fall away.	10 El que ama a su hermano permanece en la luz y nada lo hace tropezar.
11 But whoever hates his brother is in darkness and is walking about in darkness not knowing where he isgoing, because darkness has blinded him.	11 Pero el que no ama a su hermano, está en las tinieblas y camina en ellas, sin saber a dónde va, porque las tinieblas lo han enceguecido.
12 I am writing to you, children, because your sins have been forgiven through his name.	12 Hijos, les escribo porque sus pecados han sido perdonados por el nombre de Jesús.
13 I am writing to you, fathers, because you have come to know the One who has existed since thebeginning. I am writing to you, young people, because you have overcome the Evil One.	13 Padres, les escribo porque ustedes conocen al que existe desde el principio. Jóvenes, les escribo porque ustedes han vencido al Maligno.
14 I have written to you, children, because you have come to know the Father. I have written to you,parents, because you have come to know the One who has existed since the beginning. I have written to you,young people, because you are strong, and God's word remains in you, and you have overcome the Evil One.	14 Hijos, les he escrito porque ustedes conocen al Padre. Padres, les he escrito porque ustedes conocen al que existe desde el principio. Jóvenes, les he escrito porque son fuertes, y la Palabra de Dios permanece en ustedes, y ustedes han vencido al Maligno.
15 Do not love the world or what is in the world. If anyone does love the world, the love of the Father findsno place in him,	15 No amen al mundo ni las cosas mundanas. Si alguien ama al mundo, el amor del Padre no está en él.
16 because everything there is in the world -- disordered bodily desires, disordered desires of the eyes,pride in possession -- is not from the Father but is from the world.	16 Porque todo lo que hay en el mundo es concupiscencia de la carne, codicia de los ojos y ostentación de riqueza. Todo esto no viene del Padre, sino del mundo;
17 And the world, with al its disordered desires, is passing away. But whoever does the will of Godremains for ever.	17 pero el mundo pasa, y con él, su concupiscencia. En cambio, el que cumple la voluntad de Dios permanece eternamente.
18 Children, this is the final hour; you have heard that the Antichrist is coming, and now many Antichristshave already come; from this we know that it is the final hour.	18 Hijos míos, ha llegado la última hora. Ustedes oyeron decir que vendría el Anticristo; en realidad, ya han aparecido muchos anticristos, y por eso sabemos que ha llegado la última hora.
19 They have gone from among us, but they never real y belonged to us; if they had belonged to us, theywould have stayed with us. But this was to prove that not one of them belonged to us.	19 Ellos salieron de entre nosotros, sin embargo, no eran de los nuestros. Si lo hubieran sido, habrían permanecido con nosotros. Pero debía ponerse de manifiesto que no todos son de los nuestros.
20 But you have been anointed by the Holy One, and have al received knowledge.	20 Ustedes recibieron la unción del que es Santo, y todos tienen el verdadero conocimiento.
21 I have written to you not because you are ignorant of the truth, but because you are wel aware of it,and because no lie can come from the truth.	21 Les he escrito, no porque ustedes ignoren la verdad, sino porque la conocen, y porque ninguna mentira procede de la verdad.
22 Who is the liar, if not one who claims that Jesus is not the Christ? This is the Antichrist, who deniesboth the Father and the Son.	22 ¿Quién es el mentiroso, sino el que niega que Jesús es el Cristo? Ese es el Anticristo: el que niega al Padre y al Hijo.
23 Whoever denies the Son cannot have the Father either; whoever acknowledges the Son has theFather too.	23 El que niega al Hijo no está unido al Padre; el que reconoce al Hijo también está unido al Padre.
24 Let what you heard in the beginning remain in you; as long as what you heard in the beginningremains in you, you will remain in the Son and in the Father.	24 En cuanto a ustedes, permanezcan fieles a lo que oyeron desde el principio: de esa manera, permanecerán también en el Hijo y en el Padre.
25 And the promise he made you himself is eternal life.	25 La promesa que él nos hizo es esta: la Vida eterna.
26 So much have I written to you about those who are trying to lead you astray.	26 Esto es lo que quería escribirles acerca de los que intentan engañarlos.
27 But as for you, the anointing you received from him remains in you, and you do not need anyone toteach you; since the anointing he gave you teaches you everything, and since it is true, not false, remain in himjust as he has taught you.	27 Pero la unción que recibieron de él permanece en ustedes, y no necesitan que nadie les enseñe. Y ya que esa unción los instruye en todo y ella es verdadera y no miente, permanezcan en él, como ella les ha enseñado.
28 Therefore remain in him now, children, so that when he appears we may be fearless, and not shrinkfrom him in shame at his coming.	28 Sí, permanezcan en él, hijos míos, para que cuando él se manifieste, tengamos plena confianza, y no sintamos vergüenza ante él en el Día de su Venida.
29 If you know that he is upright you must recognise that everyone whose life is upright is a child of his.	29 Si ustedes saben que él es justo, sepan también que todo el que practica la justicia ha nacido de él.
