NEW JERUSALEM	LA SACRA BIBBIA
1 Well now, you rich! Lament, weep for the miseries that are coming to you.	1 Orsù dunque, voi ricchi, piangete e lamentatevi per le sciagure che si abbatteranno su di voi.
2 Your wealth is rotting, your clothes are al moth-eaten.	2 La vostra ricchezza è putrida e i vostri indumenti sono divenuti preda delle tarme,
3 Al your gold and your silver are corroding away, and the same corrosion wil be a witness against youand eat into your body. It is like a fire which you have stored up for the final days.	3 il vostro oro e il vostro argento si sono arrugginiti: la loro ruggine sarà testimonianza contro di voi e divorerà le vostre carni come fuoco. Avete accumulato tesori per gli ultimi giorni!
4 Can you hear crying out against you the wages which you kept back from the labourers mowing yourfields? The cries of the reapers have reached the ears of the Lord Sabaoth.	4 Ecco che il salario da voi trattenuto dei lavoratori che hanno mietuto i vostri campi, grida, e le urla dei mietitori sono giunte all'orecchio del Signore degli eserciti.
5 On earth you have had a life of comfort and luxury; in the time of slaughter you went on eating to yourheart's content.	5 Siete vissuti nel lusso sulla terra, vi siete dati ai piaceri: vi siete ingrassati per il giorno del macello!
6 It was you who condemned the upright and killed them; they offered you no resistance.	6 Solete condannare e uccidere il giusto che non può resistervi.
7 Now be patient, brothers, until the Lord's coming. Think of a farmer: how patiently he waits for theprecious fruit of the ground until it has had the autumn rains and the spring rains!	7 Siate dunque pazienti, fratelli, fino alla venuta del Signore. Ecco che l'agricoltore aspetta il frutto prezioso della terra, attendendo con pazienza che essa riceva le prime e le ultime piogge.
8 You too must be patient; do not lose heart, because the Lord's coming will be soon.	8 Siate longanimi anche voi, consolidate il vostro cuore, poiché la venuta del Signore incalza.
9 Do not make complaints against one another, brothers, so as not to be brought to judgementyourselves; the Judge is already to be seen waiting at the gates.	9 Non vi lagnate, fratelli, gli uni contro gli altri, perché non siate giudicati: ecco che il giudice è alle porte.
10 For your example, brothers, in patiently putting up with persecution, take the prophets who spoke inthe Lord's name;	10 Prendete come esempio di pazienza e sopportazione, fratelli, i profeti, che parlarono nel nome del Signore.
11 remember it is those who had perseverance that we say are the blessed ones. You have heard of theperseverance of Job and understood the Lord's purpose, realising that the Lord is kind and compassionate.	11 Ed ecco: proclamiamo beati quelli che hanno perseverato: avete udito parlare della perseveranza di Giobbe e conoscete l'esito finale, opera del Signore, poiché il Signore è ricco in bontà e misericordioso.
12 Above al , my brothers, do not swear by heaven or by the earth or use any oaths at al . If you mean'yes', you must say 'yes'; if you mean 'no', say 'no'. Otherwise you make yourselves liable to judgement.	12 Ma soprattutto, fratelli miei, non giurate: né per il cielo né per la terra né con qualunque altra forma di giuramento, ma il vostro sì sia sì, il vostro no sia no, in modo da non cadere nel giudizio.
13 Any one of you who is in trouble should pray; anyone in good spirits should sing a psalm.	13 C'è tra voi qualcuno che sta in difficoltà? Preghi! C'è qualcuno che si sente bene? Canti un inno di lode!
14 Any one of you who is il should send for the elders of the church, and they must anoint the sickperson with oil in the name of the Lord and pray over him.	14 C'è qualcuno ammalato? Chiami gli anziani della comunità ed essi preghino su di lui, dopo averlo unto con olio nel nome del Signore.
15 The prayer of faith will save the sick person and the Lord wil raise him up again; and if he hascommitted any sins, he wil be forgiven.	15 La preghiera della fede lo salverà nella sua difficoltà; il Signore lo solleverà; e se avrà commesso dei peccati, gli saranno rimessi.
16 So confess your sins to one another, and pray for one another to be cured; the heartfelt prayer ofsomeone upright works very powerful y.	16 Confessate dunque i peccati a vicenda e pregate gli uni per gli altri, perché possiate essere guariti: la preghiera del giusto è molto potente nella sua azione.
17 Elijah was a human being as frail as ourselves -- he prayed earnestly for it not to rain, and no rain felfor three and a half years;	17 Elia, un uomo che soffriva come noi, pregò insistentemente che non piovesse e non piovve in terra per tre anni e sei mesi.
18 then he prayed again and the sky gave rain and the earth gave crops.	18 Pregò di nuovo e il cielo mandò la pioggia e la terra germogliò, producendo il suo frutto.
19 My brothers, if one of you strays away from the truth, and another brings him back to it,	19 Fratelli miei, se uno tra voi traligna dalla verità e qualcuno lo riconduce indietro,
20 he may be sure that anyone who can bring back a sinner from his erring ways wil be saving his soulfrom death and covering over many a sin.	20 sappiate che uno che ha fatto ritornare indietro un peccatore dalla via dell'errore salverà la sua vita dalla morte e coprirà una moltitudine di peccati.
