Titus 1

NEW JERUSALEM	EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL
1 From Paul, servant of God, an apostle of Jesus Christ to bring those whom God has chosen to faith andto the knowledge of the truth that leads to true religion,	1 Paulus, Knecht Gottes und Apostel Jesu Christi, berufen, um die Auserwählten Gottes zum Glauben und zur Erkenntnis der wahren Gottesverehrung zu führen,
2 and to give them the hope of the eternal life that was promised so long ago by God. He does not lie	2 in der Hoffnung auf das ewige Leben, das der wahrhaftige Gott schon vor ewigen Zeiten verheißen hat;
3 and so, in due time, he made known his message by a proclamation which was entrusted to me by thecommand of God our Saviour.	3 jetzt aber hat er zur vorherbestimmten Zeit sein Wort offenbart in der Verkündigung, die mir durch den Auftrag Gottes, unseres Retters, anvertraut ist.
4 To Titus, true child of mine in the faith that we share. Grace and peace from God the Father and fromChrist Jesus our Saviour.	4 An Titus, seinen echten Sohn aufgrund des gemeinsamen Glaubens: Gnade und Friede von Gott, dem Vater, und Christus Jesus, unserem Retter.
5 The reason I left you behind in Crete was for you to organise everything that stil had to be done andappoint elders in every town, in the way that I told you,	5 Ich habe dich in Kreta deswegen zurückgelassen, damit du das, was noch zu tun ist, zu Ende führst und in den einzelnen Städten Älteste einsetzt, wie ich dir aufgetragen habe.
6 that is, each of them must be a man of irreproachable character, husband of one wife, and his childrenmust be believers and not liable to be charged with disorderly conduct or insubordination.	6 Ein Ältester soll unbescholten und nur einmal verheiratet sein. Seine Kinder sollen gläubig sein; man soll ihnen nicht nachsagen können, sie seien liederlich und ungehorsam.
7 The presiding elder has to be irreproachable since he is God's representative: never arrogant or hot-tempered, nor a heavy drinker or violent, nor avaricious;	7 Denn ein Bischof muss unbescholten sein, weil er das Haus Gottes verwaltet; er darf nicht überheblich und jähzornig sein, kein Trinker, nicht gewalttätig oder habgierig.
8 but hospitable and a lover of goodness; sensible, upright, devout and self-control ed;	8 Er soll vielmehr das Gute lieben, er soll gastfreundlich sein, besonnen, gerecht, fromm und beherrscht.
9 and he must have a firm grasp of the unchanging message of the tradition, so that he can be counted onboth for giving encouragement in sound doctrine and for refuting those who argue against it.	9 Er muss ein Mann sein, der sich an das wahre Wort der Lehre hält; dann kann er mit der gesunden Lehre die Gemeinde ermahnen und die Gegner widerlegen.
10 And in fact there are many people who are insubordinate, who talk nonsense and try to make othersbelieve it, particularly among those of the circumcision.	10 Denn es gibt viele Ungehorsame, Schwätzer und Schwindler, besonders unter denen, die aus dem Judentum kommen.
11 They must be silenced: people of this kind upset whole families, by teaching things that they ought notto, and doing it for the sake of sordid gain.	11 Diese Menschen muss man zum Schweigen bringen, denn aus übler Gewinnsucht zerstören sie ganze Familien mit ihren falschen Lehren.
12 It was one of themselves, one of their own prophets, who said, 'Cretans were never anything but liars,dangerous animals, al greed and laziness';	12 Einer von ihnen hat als ihr eigener Prophet gesagt: Alle Kreter sind Lügner und faule Bäuche, gefährliche Tiere.
13 and that is a true statement. So be severe in correcting them, and make them sound in the faith	13 Das ist ein wahres Wort. Darum weise sie streng zurecht, damit ihr Glaube wieder gesund wird
14 so that they stop taking notice of Jewish myths and the orders of people who turn away from the truth.	14 und sie sich nicht mehr an jüdische Fabeleien halten und an Gebote von Menschen, die sich von der Wahrheit abwenden.
15 To those who are pure themselves, everything is pure; but to those who have been corrupted and lackfaith, nothing can be pure -- the corruption is both in their minds and in their consciences.	15 Für die Reinen ist alles rein; für die Unreinen und Ungläubigen aber ist nichts rein, sogar ihr Denken und ihr Gewissen sind unrein.
16 They claim to know God but by their works they deny him; they are outrageously rebellious and quiteuntrustworthy for any good work.	16 Sie beteuern, Gott zu kennen, durch ihr Tun aber verleugnen sie ihn; es sind abscheuliche und unbelehrbare Menschen, die zu nichts Gutem taugen.
