Joshua 6

NEW JERUSALEM	BIBLIA
1 Now, Jericho had shut and barricaded its gates (against the Israelites): no one came out and no onewent in.	1 Jericó estaba cerrada a cal y canto por mielo a los israelitas: nadie salía ni entraba.
2 Yahweh then said to Joshua, 'Look, I am putting Jericho, its picked troops and its king, at your mercy.	2 Yahveh dijo a Josué: «Mira, yo pongo en tus manos a Jericó y a sus rey. Vosotros, valientes guerreros,
3 Al you warriors must march round the city (go right round the city once, doing the same on sixsuccessive days.	3 todos los hombres de guerra, rodearéis la ciudad, (dando una vuelta alrededor. Así harás durante seis días.
4 Seven priests must carry seven ram's-horn trumpets in front of the ark. On the seventh day, you wil goseven times round the city and the priests wil blow their trumpets).	4 Siete sacerdotes llevarán las siete trompetas de cuerno de carnero delante del arca. El séptimo día daréis la vuelta a la ciudad siete veces y los sacerdotes tocarán las trompetas).
5 When the ram's horn sounds (when you hear the sound of the trumpet), the entire people must utter amighty war cry and the city wall wil col apse then and there; the people wil then go into the assault, each manstraight ahead.'	5 Cuando el cuerno de carnero suene (cuando oigáis la voz de la trompeta), todo el pueblo prorrumpirá en un gran clamoreo y el muro de la ciudad se vendrá abajo. Y el pueblo se lanzará al asalto cada uno por frente a sí».
6 Joshua son of Nun summoned the priests and said to them, 'Take up the ark of the covenant, and letseven priests carry seven ram's-horn trumpets ahead of the ark of Yahweh.'	6 Josué, hijo de Nun, llamó a los sacerdotes y les dijo: «Tomad el arca de la alianza y que siete sacerdotes lleven las trompetas de cuerno de carnero delante del arca de Yahveh».
7 To the people he then said, 'Forward! March round the city, and let the vanguard march ahead of theark of Yahweh!'	7 Al pueblo le dijo: «Pasad y dad la vuelta a la ciudad y que la vanguardia pase delante del arca de Yahveh».
8 (Everything was done as Joshua had given orders to the people.) Seven priests, carrying seven ram's-horn trumpets ahead of Yahweh, moved forward blowing their trumpets; the ark of the covenant of Yahwehcame behind them,	8 (Se hizo según la orden dada por Josué al pueblo). Siete sacerdotes llevando las siete trompetas de cuerno de carnero delante de Yahveh pasaron y tocaron las trompetas; el arca de la alianza de Yahveh iba tras ellos;
9 the vanguard marched ahead of the priests, who blew their trumpets, the rearguard fol owed behind theark; the men marched, the trumpets sounded.	9 la vanguardia iba delante de los sacerdotes que tocaban las trompetas y la retaguardia marchaba detrás del arca. Según iban caminando, tocaban las trompetas.
10 Joshua had given the people the fol owing orders, 'Do not raise a war cry, do not let your voice be heard (not a word must pass your lips), until the day when I say, "Raise the war cry." That is when you mustraise the war cry.'	10 Josué había dado esta orden al pueblo: «No gritéis, ni dejéis oír vuestras voces (que no salga ni una palabra de vuestra boca) hasta el día en que yo os diga: “Gritad.” Entonces gritaréis».
11 He made the ark go round the city (going round it once), then they went back to camp, where theyspent the night.	11 Hizo que el arca de Yahveh diera la vuelta a la ciudad (rodeándola una vez); luego volvieron al campamento, donde pasaron la noche.
12 Joshua got up early, and the priests took up the ark of Yahweh.	12 Josué se levantó de mañana y los sacerdotes tomaron el arca de Yahveh.
13 Carrying the seven ram's-horn trumpets, the seven priests walked ahead of the ark of Yahweh,blowing their trumpets as they went, while the vanguard marched ahead of them and the rearguard behind theark of Yahweh, and the march went on to the sound of the trumpet.	13 Siete sacerdotes, llevando las siete trompetas de cuerno de carnero delante del arca de Yahveh, iban caminando y tocando las trompetas según caminaban. La vanguardia iba delante de ellos y la retaguardia detrás del arca de Yahveh, desfilando al son de las trompetas.
14 They marched once round the city (on the second day) and went back to camp; and so on for six days.	14 Dieron (el segundo día) una vuelta a la ciudad y volvieron al campamento. Se hizo lo mismo los seis días.
15 On the seventh day, they got up at dawn and marched (in the same manner) round the city seventimes. (This was the only day when they marched round the city seven times.)	15 El séptimo día, se levantaron con el alba y dieron la vuelta a la ciudad (según el mismo rito) siete veces. (Sólo aquel día dieron la vuelta a la ciudad siete veces.)
16 At the seventh time, the priests blew their trumpets and Joshua said to the people, 'Raise the war cry,for Yahweh has given you the city!	16 La séptima vez, los sacerdotes tocaron la trompeta y Josué dijo al pueblo: «¡Lanzad el grito de guerra, porque Yahveh os ha entregado la ciudad!»
17 'The city and everyone in it must be devoted to Yahweh under the curse of destruction; the life ofRahab the prostitute alone must be spared, with al those with her in her house, since she hid the messengerswe sent.	17 «La ciudad será consagrada como anatema a Yahveh con todo lo que haya en ella; únicamente, Rajab, la prostituta, quedará con vida, así como todos los que están con ella en su casa, por haber ocultado a los emisarios que enviamos.
18 But beware of the curse of destruction, yourselves, for fear that, moved by greed, you take somethinglying under the curse; that would put the camp of Israel under the same curse and bring disaster on it.	18 Pero vosotros guardoos del anatema, no vayáis a quedaros, llevados de la codicia, con algo de lo que es anatema, porque convertiráis en anatema todo el campamento de Israel y le acarrearíais la desgracia.
19 All the silver and all the gold, everything made of bronze or iron, wil be consecrated to Yahweh andput in his treasury.'	19 Toda la plata y todo el oro, todos los objetos de bronce y de hierro, están consagrados a Yahveh: ingresarán en su tesoro».
20 The people raised the war cry, the trumpets sounded. When the people heard the sound of thetrumpet, they raised a mighty war cry and the wal col apsed then and there. At once the people stormed the city,each man going straight forward; and they captured the city.	20 El pueblo clamó y se tocaron las trompetas. Al escuchar el pueblo la voz de la trompeta, prorrumpió en gran clamor, y el muro se vino abajo. La gente escaló la ciudad, cada uno frente a sí, y se apoderaron de ella.
21 They enforced the curse of destruction on everyone in the city: men and women, young and old,including the oxen, the sheep and the donkeys, slaughtering them all.	21 Consagraron al anatema todo lo que había en la ciudad, hombres y mujeres, jóvenes y viejos, bueyes, ovejas y asnos, a filo de espada.
22 Joshua said to the two men who had reconnoitred the country, 'Go into the prostitute's house, andbring the woman out with al who belong to her, as you swore to her that you would.'	22 Josué dijo a los dos hombres que habían explorado el país: «Entrad en la casa de la prostituta y haced salir de ella a esa mujer con todos los suyos, como se lo habéis jurado».
23 The young men who had been spies went and brought Rahab out, with her father and mother andbrothers and al who belonged to her. They brought out all her clansmen too, and put them in a place of safetyoutside the camp of Israel.	23 Los jóvenes espías fueron e hicieron salir a Rajab, a su padre, a su madre, a sus hermanos y a todos los suyos. También hicieron salir a todos los de su familia y los pusieron a salvo, fuera del campamento de Israel.
24 They burned the city and everything inside it, except the silver, the gold and the things of bronze andiron; these they put into the treasury of Yahweh's house.	24 Prendieron fuego a la ciudad con todo lo que contenía. Sólo la plata, el oro y los objetos de bronce y de hierro los depositaron el el tesoro de la casa de Yahveh.
25 But Rahab the prostitute, her father's family and al who belonged to her, these Joshua spared. She isstill living in Israel even today, for having hidden the messengers whom Joshua sent to reconnoitre Jericho.	25 Pero a Rajab, la prostituta, así como a la casa de su padre y a todos los suyos, Josúe los conservó con vida. Ella se quedó en Israel hasta el día de hoy, por haber escondido a los emisarios que Josué había enviado a explorar Jericó.
26 At that time Joshua made them take this oath before Yahweh: Accursed before Yahweh be the manwho rises up and rebuilds this city (Jericho)! On his first-born wil he lay its foundations, on his youngest son setup its gates!	26 En aquel tiempo Josué pronunció este juramento: ¡Maldito sea delante de Yahveh el hombre que se levante y reconstruya esta ciudad (de Jericó)! ¡Sobre su primogénito echará su cimiento y sobre su pequeño colocará las puertas!
27 So Yahweh was with Joshua, whose fame spread throughout the country.	27 Y Yahveh estuvo con Josué, cuya fama se extendió por toda la tierra.
