1 From Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle,	1 Paolo, servo di Gesù Cristo, chiamato apostolo, segregato pel Vangelo di Dio,
2 set apart for the service of the gospel that God promised long ago through his prophets in the holyscriptures.	2 Vangelo che Dio aveva già promesso per mezzo dei suoi profeti nelle sante Scritture,
3 This is the gospel concerning his Son who, in terms of human nature	3 intorno al suo Figliolo, (fatto a lui dal seme di David, secondo la carne,
4 was born a descendant of David and who, in terms of the Spirit and of holiness, was designated Son ofGod in power by resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ, our Lord,	4 predestinato Figliolo di Dio per propria virtù, secondo lo spirito di santificazione, per la risurrezione da morte), Gesù Cristo Signor nostro,
5 through whom we have received grace and our apostolic mission of winning the obedience of faithamong all the nations for the honour of his name.	5 per cui abbiamo ricevuto la grazia e l'apostolato, per trarre in suo nome all'obbedienza della fede tutte le genti,
6 You are among these, and by his cal you belong to Jesus Christ.	6 tra le quali siete anche voi chiamati (ad essere) di Gesù Cristo:
7 To you al , God's beloved in Rome, cal ed to be his holy people. Grace and peace from God our Fatherand the Lord Jesus Christ.	7 a voi tutti amati da Dio, chiamati santi, che siete a Roma, grazia e pace da Dio nostro Padre e dal Signore Gesù Cristo.
8 First I give thanks to my God through Jesus Christ for al of you because your faith is talked of al overthe world.	8 Prima di tutto rendo grazie a Dio per mezzo di Gesù Cristo a riguardo di tutti voi, perchè la vostra fede è celebrata in tutto il mondo.
9 God, whom I serve with my spirit in preaching the gospel of his Son, is my witness that I continuallymention you in my prayers,	9 Dio, a cui servo nel mio spirito, evangelizzando il suo Figliolo, mi è testimone che mi ricordo continuamente e sempre
10 asking always that by some means I may at long last be enabled to visit you, if it is God's will.	10 di voi nelle mie orazioni, chiedendo che finalmente una volta, con la volontà di Dio, possa avere una felice occasione di venire a voi;
11 For I am longing to see you so that I can convey to you some spiritual gift that will be a lastingstrength,	11 perchè io bramo di vedervi, per comunicarvi qualche dono spirituale che vi conforti,
12 or rather that we may be strengthened together through our mutual faith, yours and mine.	12 O meglio, per incoraggiarci scambievolmente mediante la fede che ci è comune, a voi e a me.
13 I want you to be quite certain too, brothers, that I have often planned to visit you -- though up to thepresent I have always been prevented -- in the hope that I might work as fruitfully among you as I have amongthe gentiles elsewhere.	13 Or io non voglio che voi ignoriate, o fratelli, come spesso abbia fatto il proposito di venire a voi, per raccogliere qualche frutto anche tra voi, come tra le altre nazioni, ma sono stato fino ad ora impedito.
14 I have an obligation to Greeks as wel as barbarians, to the educated as wel as the ignorant,	14 Io son debitore ai Greci e ai Barbari, ai sapienti ed agli ignoranti,
15 and hence the eagerness on my part to preach the gospel to you in Rome too.	15 quindi (quanto a me) sono pronto ad annunziare il Vangelo anche a voi che siete in Roma.
16 For I see no reason to be ashamed of the gospel; it is God's power for the salvation of everyone whohas faith -- Jews first, but Greeks as well-	16 Perchè io non mi vergogno del Vangelo, virtù di Dio a salvezza d'ogni credente, prima del Giudeo, poi del Greco.
17 for in it is revealed the saving justice of God: a justice based on faith and addressed to faith. As itsays in scripture: Anyone who is upright through faith will live.	17 In esso infatti si manifesta la giustizia di Dio che vien dalla fede e tende alla fède, come sta scritto: Il giusto vive di fede.
18 The retribution of God from heaven is being revealed against the ungodliness and injustice of humanbeings who in their injustice hold back the truth.	18 Or l'ira di Dio si manifesta dal cielo contro ogni empietà ed ingiustizia degli uomini che soffocano la verità di Dio nell'ingiustizia,
19 For what can be known about God is perfectly plain to them, since God has made it plain to them:	19 perchè ciò che può conoscersi di Dio è in essi manifesto, avendolo Dio loro manifestato.
20 ever since the creation of the world, the invisible existence of God and his everlasting power havebeen clearly seen by the mind's understanding of created things. And so these people have no excuse:	20 Infatti le sue invisibili perfezioni, la sua eterna possanza, la sua divinità, dopo la creazione del mondo, sono rese visibili all'intelligenza, per mezzo delle creature.
21 they knew God and yet they did not honour him as God or give thanks to him, but their argumentsbecame futile and their uncomprehending minds were darkened.	21 Quindi essi sono senza scusa, perchè avendo conosciuto Dio, non l'hanno glorificato come Dio, nè l'hanno ringraziato; ma han vaneggiato nei loro pensamenti e il loro stolto cuore s'è ravvolto nelle tenebre.
22 While they claimed to be wise, in fact they were growing so stupid	22 Vantandosi di essere saggi son divenuti pazzi,
23 that they exchanged the glory of the immortal God for an imitation, for the image of a mortal humanbeing, or of birds, or animals, or crawling things.	23 ed han cangiato la gloria dell'incorruttibile Dio in simulacri di uomini corruttibili, di uccelli, di quadrupedi e di serpenti.
24 That is why God abandoned them in their inmost cravings to filthy practices of dishonouring their ownbodies-	24 Per questo Dio li ha abbandonati ai desideri del loro cuore, all'immondezza, in modo che disonorino tra di loro i proprii corpi,
25 because they exchanged God's truth for a lie and have worshipped and served the creature insteadof the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.	25 così che han mutato la verità di Dio nella menzogna, e hanno adorato e servito la creatura invece del Creatore (il quale è benedetto in eterno. Così sia!)
26 That is why God abandoned them to degrading passions:	26 Per questo Dio li ha abbandonati a passioni infami: le loro donne han cambiato l'uso naturale in quello che è contro natura,
27 why their women have exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural practices; and the men, in asimilar fashion, too, giving up normal relations with women, are consumed with passion for each other, mendoing shameful things with men and receiving in themselves due reward for their perversion.	27 e similmente gli uomini lasciata la naturale unione con la donna, arsero di libidine gli uni verso gli altri, facendo, uomini con uomini, delle turpitudini, e ricevendo in se stessi la condegna mercede della loro degenerazione.
28 In other words, since they would not consent to acknowledge God, God abandoned them to theirunacceptable thoughts and indecent behaviour.	28 E siccome non si son curati di riconoscere Dio, Dio li ha abbandonati al reprobo senso, in modo che fanno cose immorali.
29 And so now they are steeped in al sorts of injustice, rottenness, greed and malice; full of envy,murder, wrangling, treachery and spite,	29 Son ricolmi di ogni iniquità, di malizia, di fornicazione, di avarizia, di malvagità, pieni d'invidia, di omicidio, di discordia, di frode, di malignità, sussurroni,
30 libel ers, slanderers, enemies of God, rude, arrogant and boastful, enterprising in evil, rebellious toparents,	30 detrattori, nemici di Dio, oltraggiatori, superbi, millantatori, inventori di perversità, disubbidienti ai genitori, distolti, disordinati, senza amore, senza legge, spietati.
31 without brains, honour, love or pity.	31 Essi, avendo conosciuta la giustizia di Dio, non compresero che chi fa tali cose è degno di morte; nè soltanto chi le fa, ma anche chi approva coloro che le fanno.
32 They are well aware of God's ordinance: that those who behave like this deserve to die -- yet they notonly do it, but even applaud others who do the same.
