1 From Paul, a servant of Christ Jesus, called to be an apostle,	1 Paolo, servo di Gesù Cristo, chiamato Apostolo, segregato pel Vangelo di Dio,
2 set apart for the service of the gospel that God promised long ago through his prophets in the holyscriptures.	2 Il qual (Vangelo) aveva egli anticipatamente promesso per mezzo de' suoi profeti nelle sante scritture,
3 This is the gospel concerning his Son who, in terms of human nature	3 Risguardante il Figliuol suo (fatto a lui del seme di Davidde secondo la carne,
4 was born a descendant of David and who, in terms of the Spirit and of holiness, was designated Son ofGod in power by resurrection from the dead: Jesus Christ, our Lord,	4 Predestinato Figliuolo di Dio per (propria) virtù secondo lo spirito di santificazione per la risurrezione da morte) Gesù Cristo Signor nostro:
5 through whom we have received grace and our apostolic mission of winning the obedience of faithamong all the nations for the honour of his name.	5 Per cui ricevuto abbiamo la grazia e l'Apostolato presso tutte le genti affinchè alla fede nel nome di lui ubbidiscano,
6 You are among these, and by his cal you belong to Jesus Christ.	6 Tra le quali siete anche voi chiamati di Gesù Cristo:
7 To you al , God's beloved in Rome, cal ed to be his holy people. Grace and peace from God our Fatherand the Lord Jesus Christ.	7 A tutti que' che sono in Roma, diletti di Dio, chiamati santi: grazia a voi, e pace da Dio padre nostro, e dal Signore Gesù Cristo.
8 First I give thanks to my God through Jesus Christ for al of you because your faith is talked of al overthe world.	8 E primieramente grazie rendo al mio Dio per Gesù Cristo a riguardo di tutti voi: perché per la vostra fede vien celebrata pel mondo tutto.
9 God, whom I serve with my spirit in preaching the gospel of his Son, is my witness that I continuallymention you in my prayers,	9 Imperocché è a me testimone Dio cui in servo col mio spirito in evangelizzando il suo figliuolo, come di continuo fo memoria di voi
10 asking always that by some means I may at long last be enabled to visit you, if it is God's will.	10 Sempre nelle mie orazioni, chiedendo, che, se mai finalmente una volta mi sia concesso nella volontà di Dio un felice viaggio a voi io ne venga.
11 For I am longing to see you so that I can convey to you some spiritual gift that will be a lastingstrength,	11 Conciossiaché bramo di vedervi, affin di comunicare a voi qualche parte di grazia spirituale per vostro conforto:
12 or rather that we may be strengthened together through our mutual faith, yours and mine.	12 Viene a dire, per consolarmi insieme con voi per la scambievole fede e vostra, e mia.
13 I want you to be quite certain too, brothers, that I have often planned to visit you -- though up to thepresent I have always been prevented -- in the hope that I might work as fruitfully among you as I have amongthe gentiles elsewhere.	13 Or io non voglio, che siavi ignoto, o fratelli, come feci spesso risoluzione di venir da voi per far qualche frutto anche tra voi, come tra le altre nazioni, ma sono stato fino a quest'ora impedito.
14 I have an obligation to Greeks as wel as barbarians, to the educated as wel as the ignorant,	14 Sono debitore ai Greci, e ai Barbari, ai saggi, e agli stolti:
15 and hence the eagerness on my part to preach the gospel to you in Rome too.	15 Cosi (quanto a me) sono pronto ad annunciare il Vangelo anche a voi che siete in Roma.
16 For I see no reason to be ashamed of the gospel; it is God's power for the salvation of everyone whohas faith -- Jews first, but Greeks as well-	16 Imperocché io non mi vergogno del Vangelo. Conciossiachè egli è virtù di Dio per dar salute ad ogni credente, prima al Giudeo, e poi al Greco.
17 for in it is revealed the saving justice of God: a justice based on faith and addressed to faith. As itsays in scripture: Anyone who is upright through faith will live.	17 Imperocché la giustizia di Dio per esso si manifesta di fede in fede: conforme sta scritto: il giusto vive di fede.
18 The retribution of God from heaven is being revealed against the ungodliness and injustice of humanbeings who in their injustice hold back the truth.	18 Imperocché si manifesta l'ira di Dio dal cielo contro ogni empietà, e in giustizia degli uomini, come quegli, i quali la verità di Dio ritengono nell'ingiustizia:
19 For what can be known about God is perfectly plain to them, since God has made it plain to them:	19 Conciossiachè quello, che di Dio può conoscersi, è in essi manifesto. Dappoiché Dio lo ha ad essi manifestato.
20 ever since the creation of the world, the invisible existence of God and his everlasting power havebeen clearly seen by the mind's understanding of created things. And so these people have no excuse:	20 Imperocché le invisibili cose di lui, dopo creato il mondo per le cose fatte comprendendosi, si veggono: anche l'eterna potenza, e il divino essere di lui, onde siano inescusabili.
21 they knew God and yet they did not honour him as God or give thanks to him, but their argumentsbecame futile and their uncomprehending minds were darkened.	21 Perché avendo conosciuto Dio, noi glorificarono come Dio né a lui grazie rendettero: ma infatuirono ne' loro pensamenti, e si ottenebrò lo stolto lor cuore:
22 While they claimed to be wise, in fact they were growing so stupid	22 Imperocché dicendo di esser saggi, diventarono stolti.
23 that they exchanged the glory of the immortal God for an imitation, for the image of a mortal humanbeing, or of birds, or animals, or crawling things.	23 E cangiarono la gloria dell'incorruttibile Dio per la figura di un simulacro di uomo corruttibile, e di uccelli, e di quadrupedi, e di serpenti.
24 That is why God abandoned them in their inmost cravings to filthy practices of dishonouring their ownbodies-	24 Per la qual cosa abbandonagli Iddio ai desiderj de' loro cuore, alla immondezza: talmente che disonorassero in se stessi i corpi loro:
25 because they exchanged God's truth for a lie and have worshipped and served the creature insteadof the Creator, who is blessed for ever. Amen.	25 Eglino, che cambiarono la verità di Dio per la menzogna: e rendettero onore, e servirono alla creatura piuttosto, che al Creatore, il quale è bene detto ne' secoli. Così sia.
26 That is why God abandoned them to degrading passions:	26 Per questo gli diede Dio in balìa di ignominiose passioni. Imperocché le stesse loro donne l'ordine posto dalla natura cambiarono in disordine contrario alla natura.
27 why their women have exchanged natural intercourse for unnatural practices; and the men, in asimilar fashion, too, giving up normal relations with women, are consumed with passion for each other, mendoing shameful things with men and receiving in themselves due reward for their perversion.	27 E gli uomini similmente, lasciata la natural unione della donna, ne lor desiderj arsero scambievolmente, facendo cose obbrobriose l'un verso l'altro, e riportando in se stessi la condegna mercede del proprio errore.
28 In other words, since they would not consent to acknowledge God, God abandoned them to theirunacceptable thoughts and indecent behaviour.	28 E siccome non si curarono di riconoscer Dio: abbandonogli Iddio a un reprobo senso, onde facciano cosa non convenevoli,
29 And so now they are steeped in al sorts of injustice, rottenness, greed and malice; full of envy,murder, wrangling, treachery and spite,	29 Ricolmi di ogni iniquità, di malizia, di fornicazione, di avarizia, di malvagità, pieni di invidia, di omicidio, di discordia, di frode, di malignità, susurroni,
30 libel ers, slanderers, enemies of God, rude, arrogant and boastful, enterprising in evil, rebellious toparents,	30 Detrattori, nemici di Dio, oltraggiatori, superbi, millantatori, inventori di male cose, disubbidienti ai genitori,
31 without brains, honour, love or pity.	31 Stolti, disordinati, senza amore, senza legge, senza compassione.
32 They are well aware of God's ordinance: that those who behave like this deserve to die -- yet they notonly do it, but even applaud others who do the same.	32 I quali conosciuta avendo la gustizia di Dio, non intesero, come chi fa tali cose, è degno di morte: né solamente chi le fa, ma anche chi approva coloro, che le fanno.
