1 Saul approved of the killing. That day a bitter persecution started against the church in Jerusalem, andeveryone except the apostles scattered to the country districts of Judaea and Samaria.	1 Saulo dunque, approvava il suo assassinio. In quell’occasione pertanto ci fu grande persecuzione contro la Chiesa di Gerusalemme; perciò la massima parte, ad eccezione degli apostoli, si videro costretti a disseminarsi per i paesi della Giudea e della Samaria.
2 There were some devout people, however, who buried Stephen and made great mourning for him.	2 Intanto Erefano fu seppellito a cura di persone pie che gli tributarono solenni onori funebri.
3 Saul then began doing great harm to the church; he went from house to house arresting both men andwomen and sending them to prison.	3 Saulo intanto cercava di annientare la Chiesa e, entrando in ogni casa e trascinando via uomini e donne, li faceva incarcerare.
4 Once they had scattered, they went from place to place preaching the good news.	4 Quelli dunque che erano stati dispersi annunziavano lungo il viaggio la Parola.
5 And Philip went to a Samaritan town and proclaimed the Christ to them.	5 Filippo da parte sua scese in una città della Samaria e vi predicò agli abitanti il Messia.
6 The people unanimously welcomed the message Philip preached, because they had heard of themiracles he worked and because they saw them for themselves.	6 Corrispondevano le folle a ciò che Filippo diceva, tutti unanimemente, all’ascoltare e vedere i suoi continui miracoli.
7 For unclean spirits came shrieking out of many who were possessed, and several paralytics and crippleswere cured.	7 Difatti da molti che erano posseduti le forze maligne uscivano con grandi urla; molti paralitici e zoppi furono guariti;
8 As a result there was great rejoicing in that town.	8 e fu gran gioia in quella città.
9 Now a man cal ed Simon had for some time been practising magic arts in the town and astounded theSamaritan people. He had given it out that he was someone momentous,	9 In essa era stato prima un certo Simone, che esercitava la magia, sbalordiva il popolo della Samaria e si spacciava pr un gran personaggio.
10 and everyone believed in him; eminent citizens and ordinary people alike had declared, 'He is thedivine power that is called Great.'	10 A lui davano grande ascolto tutti, grandi e piccoli, dicendo: «Quest'uomo è Dio, quello che si dice Grande».
11 He had this fol owing because for a considerable period they had been astounded by his wizardry.	11 Gli davano dunque retta perché per molto tempo li aveva storditi con le sue magie.
12 But when they came to accept Philip's preaching of the good news about the kingdom of God and thename of Jesus Christ, they were baptised, both men and women,	12 Ma quando presero a credere a Filippo che annunziava il regno di Dio e il nome di Gesù Cristo, si battezzarono l’uno dopo l'altro uomini e donne.
13 and even Simon himself became a believer. After his baptism Simon went round constantly with Philipand was astonished when he saw the wonders and great miracles that took place.	13 Da parte sua Simone, abbracciò anche lui la fede e, fattosi battezzare, sì teneva continuamente a fianco di Filippo e, osservando i segni e i miracoli grandi che sì compivano, rimaneva stupefatto.
14 When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peterand John to them,	14 Gli apostoli presenti a Gerusalemme, avendo saputo che la Samaria aveva accolto l’evangelo, vi inviarono Pietro e Giovanni.
15 and they went down there and prayed for them to receive the Holy Spirit,	15 Essi quindi scesero e recitarono per loro un’orazione perché ricevessero lo Spirito Santo,
16 for as yet he had not come down on any of them: they had only been baptised in the name of the LordJesus.	16 dato che fino allora non era disceso su nessuno di loro, ma erano soltanto battezzati nel nome del Signore Gesù.
17 Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.	17 Allora imposero loro le mani a uno a uno e così essi ricevettero lo Spirito Santo.
18 When Simon saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offeredthem money,	18 Simone, quando vide che mediante l’imposizione delle mani degli apostoli veniva dato lo Spirito Santo, offrì loro del danaro,
19 with the words, 'Give me the same power so that anyone I lay my hands on wil receive the Holy Spirit.'	19 dicendo: «Date anche a me questo potere di conferir lo Spirito Santo a chiunque imporrò le mani».
20 Peter answered, 'May your silver be lost for ever, and you with it, for thinking that money could buywhat God has given for nothing!	20 Pietro gli rispose: «Alla perdizione tu e il tuo danaro! poiché hai creduto di ottenere il dono di Dio con l’oro.
21 You have no share, no part, in this: God can see how your heart is warped.	21 Non c'è per te porzione né parte in questa materia, dal momento che il tuo cuore non è retto davanti a Dio.
22 Repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that this scheme of yours may be forgiven;	22 Pèntiti almeno di codesta malvagità e prega il Signore Gesù che ti perdoni possibilmente il pensiero della tua mente,
23 it is plain to me that you are held in the bitterness of gal and the chains of sin.'	23 perché io ti vedo schiavo di una passione perniciosa».
24 Simon replied, 'Pray to the Lord for me yourselves so that none of the things you have spoken aboutmay happen to me.'	24 Rispose Simone: «Pregate voi per me il Signore che nulla mi accada di quanto mi avete detto».
25 Having given their testimony and proclaimed the word of the Lord, they went back to Jerusalem,preaching the good news to a number of Samaritan vil ages.	25 Essi pertanto, dopo avere attestato ed posto l’evangelo di Gesù, rientrarono a Gerusalemme, evangelizzando in viaggio molte borgate della Samaria.
26 The angel of the Lord spoke to Philip saying, 'Set out at noon and go along the road that leads fromJerusalem down to Gaza, the desert road.'	26 Più tardi un angelo del Signore parlò così a Filippo: «Su, va’ verso sud sulla strada che scende da Gerusalemme a Gaza, quella deserta».
27 So he set off on his journey. Now an Ethiopian had been on pilgrimage to Jerusalem; he was a eunuchand an officer at the court of the kandake, or queen, of Ethiopia; he was her chief treasurer.	27 Egli uscì e si mise in cammino. Ed ecco un eunuco etiope, ministro delle finanze di Candace regina d’Etiopia, il quale era stato a Gerusalemme in pellegrinaggio
28 He was now on his way home; and as he sat in his chariot he was reading the prophet Isaiah.	28 e ora faceva il viaggio di ritorno seduto sul suo cocchio e intento alla lettura del profeta Isaia.
29 The Spirit said to Philip, 'Go up and join that chariot.'	29 Lo Spirito disse allora a Filippo: «Accòstati e segui da vicino questo cocchio».
30 When Philip ran up, he heard him reading Isaiah the prophet and asked, 'Do you understand what youare reading?'	30 Filippo corse vicino, sentì l’eunuco leggere il profeta Isaia e ‘gli domandò: «Comprendi davvero quel che leggi?»
31 He replied, 'How could I, unless I have someone to guide me?' So he urged Philip to get in and sit byhis side.	31 Rispose: «Purtroppo non è possibile senza uno che mi istruisca», e invitò Filippo a montare al suo fianco.
32 Now the passage of scripture he was reading was this: Like a lamb led to the slaughter-house, like asheep dumb in front of its shearers, he never opens his mouth.	32 Ora il passo biblico che stava leggendo era il seguente: Come una pecora, al macello fu condotto; ma, come un agnello è muto davanti a chi lo tosa, così egli non apre la sua bocca.
33 In his humiliation fair judgement was denied him. Who wil ever talk about his descendants, since hislife on earth has been cut short?	33 Con l’umiliazione si chiuse il suo processo: chi sarà in grado di descrivere i suoi contemporanei ? una volta che dal mondo vien tolta la sua vita.
34 The eunuch addressed Philip and said, 'Tel me, is the prophet referring to himself or someone else?'	34 Prese dunque la parola l’eunuco e disse a Filippo: «Ti prego, di chi il profeta dice questo? di se stesso o di un altro?»
35 Starting, therefore, with this text of scripture Philip proceeded to explain the good news of Jesus to him.	35 Allora Filippo iniziò la conversazione e, prendendo lo spunto da questo passo biblico, gli annunziò Gesù.
36 Further along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, 'Look,is some water; is thereanything to prevent my being baptised?'	36 Come viaggiavano per quella strada, arrivarono a un corso d’acqua. Dice l’eunuco: «Qui c’è acqua: che cosa si oppone al mio battesimo?»
37	37 .
38 He ordered the chariot to stop, then Philip and the eunuch both went down into the water and hebaptised him.	38 Fece fermare il cocchio ed entrambi, Filippo e l’eunuco, scesero in acqua e Filippo lo battezzò.
39 But after they had come up out of the water again Philip was taken away by the Spirit of the Lord, andthe eunuch never saw him again but went on his way rejoicing.	39 Quando furono risaliti all’asciutto, lo Spirito di Dio rapì Filippo, e l’eunuco, che continuò il suo viaggio nel gaudio, non lo vide più.
40 Philip appeared in Azotus and continued his journey, proclaiming the good news in every town as faras Caesarea.	40 Filippo, dal canto suo, si trovò ad Azoto; poi annunziò l’evangelo lungo il viaggio a tutte le città finché giunse a Cesarea.
