1 Saul approved of the killing. That day a bitter persecution started against the church in Jerusalem, andeveryone except the apostles scattered to the country districts of Judaea and Samaria.	1 Si levò allora gran persecuzione contro la Chiesa di Gerusalemme, e tutti, salvo gli Apostoli, si dispersero per le contrada di Giudea e di Samaria.
2 There were some devout people, however, who buried Stephen and made great mourning for him.	2 Ma uomini timorati seppellirono Stefano e fecero gran pianto su di lui.
3 Saul then began doing great harm to the church; he went from house to house arresting both men andwomen and sending them to prison.	3 Saulo poi desolava la Chiesa, entrando per le case e portando via uomini e donne che faceva mettere in prigione.
4 Once they had scattered, they went from place to place preaching the good news.	4 Frattanto quelli che s'erano dispersi andavano da un luogo all'altro, annunziando la parola di Dio.
5 And Philip went to a Samaritan town and proclaimed the Christ to them.	5 Or Filippo disceso nella città di Samaria vi predicò Cristo.
6 The people unanimously welcomed the message Philip preached, because they had heard of themiracles he worked and because they saw them for themselves.	6 E le folle unanimi stavano attente alle cose detto da Filippo, sentiti e veduti i miracoli che faceva.
7 For unclean spirits came shrieking out of many who were possessed, and several paralytics and crippleswere cured.	7 Infatti gli spiriti immondi, gridando ad alta voce, uscivano dagli indemoniati.
8 As a result there was great rejoicing in that town.	8 E molti paralitici e molti zoppi furono guariti, sicché fu grande in quella città l'allegrezza.
9 Now a man cal ed Simon had for some time been practising magic arts in the town and astounded theSamaritan people. He had given it out that he was someone momentous,	9 Or un cert'uomo chiamato Simone, stava già da tempo in quella città, ed esercitando la magia, seduceva molta gente di Samaria, spacciandosi per un gran che.
10 and everyone believed in him; eminent citizens and ordinary people alike had declared, 'He is thedivine power that is called Great.'	10 E tutti, dal più piccolo al più grande, gli davan retta, dicendo: Costui è la potenza di Dio, quello che si chiama grande.
11 He had this fol owing because for a considerable period they had been astounded by his wizardry.	11 E gli ubbidivano, perchè da molto tempo li aveva ammaliati colle sue magìe.
12 But when they came to accept Philip's preaching of the good news about the kingdom of God and thename of Jesus Christ, they were baptised, both men and women,	12 Ma quando ebbero creduto a Filippo che evangelizzava il regno di Dio, uomini e donne si battezzavano in nome di Gesù Cristo.
13 and even Simon himself became a believer. After his baptism Simon went round constantly with Philipand was astonished when he saw the wonders and great miracles that took place.	13 Ed anche Simone credette, e ricevuto il battesimo, non si staccava da Filippo; e, osservandone i miracoli ed i prodigi grandissimi, andava fuori di se dallo stupore.
14 When the apostles in Jerusalem heard that Samaria had accepted the word of God, they sent Peterand John to them,	14 Or gli Apostoli che erano in Gerusalemme, avendo sentito che la Samaria aveva ricevuta la parola di Dio, vi mandarono Pietro e Giovanni;
15 and they went down there and prayed for them to receive the Holy Spirit,	15 i quali, arrivati, pregarono per loro, affinchè ricevessero lo Spirito Santo.
16 for as yet he had not come down on any of them: they had only been baptised in the name of the LordJesus.	16 Perchè non era ancor disceso in alcuno di essi, ma eran soltanto battezzati nel nome del Signore Gesù.
17 Then they laid hands on them, and they received the Holy Spirit.	17 Allora imposero loro le mani, ed essi ricevettero lo Spirito Santo.
18 When Simon saw that the Spirit was given through the laying on of the apostles' hands, he offeredthem money,	18 Or Simone come vide che mediante l'imposizione delle mani degli Apostoli era dato lo Spirito Santo, offerse loro del danaro,
19 with the words, 'Give me the same power so that anyone I lay my hands on wil receive the Holy Spirit.'	19 dicendo: Date anche a me questo potere di far ricevere lo Spirito Santo a quelli a cui imporrò le mani. Ma Pietro gli disse:
20 Peter answered, 'May your silver be lost for ever, and you with it, for thinking that money could buywhat God has given for nothing!	20 Vada il tuo danaro teco in perdizione, perchè hai stimato che il dono di Dio si possa comperare coi danari.
21 You have no share, no part, in this: God can see how your heart is warped.	21 Tu non hai parte alcuna in tutto questo, perchè il tuo cuore non è retto dinanzi a Dio.
22 Repent of this wickedness of yours, and pray to the Lord that this scheme of yours may be forgiven;	22 Fa dunque penitenza di questa tua malvagità, e raccomandati a Dio che, se è possibile, ti sia perdonato questo disegno del tuo cuore.
23 it is plain to me that you are held in the bitterness of gal and the chains of sin.'	23 Io ti vedo infatti pieno di amarissimo fiele e tra i lacci di iniquità.
24 Simon replied, 'Pray to the Lord for me yourselves so that none of the things you have spoken aboutmay happen to me.'	24 E Simone rispose: Pregate voi per me il Signore, affinchè nulla mi avvenga di quanto avete detto.
25 Having given their testimony and proclaimed the word of the Lord, they went back to Jerusalem,preaching the good news to a number of Samaritan vil ages.	25 E così dopo aver predicato e resa testimonianza alla parola di Dio, essi se ne tornarono a Gerusalemme ed evangelizzarono molte regioni dei Samaritani.
26 The angel of the Lord spoke to Philip saying, 'Set out at noon and go along the road that leads fromJerusalem down to Gaza, the desert road.'	26 Or l'Angelo del Signore parlò a Filippo e gli disse: Alzati e va in direzione del mezzogiorno, sulla strada che mena da Gerusalemme a Gaza; questa è deserta.
27 So he set off on his journey. Now an Ethiopian had been on pilgrimage to Jerusalem; he was a eunuchand an officer at the court of the kandake, or queen, of Ethiopia; he was her chief treasurer.	27 E si alzò e partì. Ed ecco, un Etiope, un eunuco, ministro di Candace, regina degli Etiopi, sopraintendente di tutti i suoi tesori, il quale era stato ad adorare in Gerusalemme.
28 He was now on his way home; and as he sat in his chariot he was reading the prophet Isaiah.	28 ed ora se ne tornava seduto sul suo cocchio e leggendo il profeta Isaia.
29 The Spirit said to Philip, 'Go up and join that chariot.'	29 Allora lo Spirito disse a Filippo: Accostati e segui quel cocchio.
30 When Philip ran up, he heard him reading Isaiah the prophet and asked, 'Do you understand what youare reading?'	30 Filippo, avvicinatosi, senti che l'eunuco leggeva il profeta Isaia e gli disse: Intendi tu quello che leggi?
31 He replied, 'How could I, unless I have someone to guide me?' So he urged Philip to get in and sit byhis side.	31 Quello rispose: Ma come posso capirlo se nessuno me lo spiega? E pregò Filippo di montare a sedere con lui.
32 Now the passage of scripture he was reading was this: Like a lamb led to the slaughter-house, like asheep dumb in front of its shearers, he never opens his mouth.	32 Il passo della Scrittura da lui letto era questo: Come pecorella è stato condotto al macello; e, come agnello muto davanti a chi lo tosa, così egli non aprì la sua bocca.
33 In his humiliation fair judgement was denied him. Who wil ever talk about his descendants, since hislife on earth has been cut short?	33 Nella sua umiliazione fu cancellata la condanna. Chi descriverà la sua generazione, poiché sarà tolta dalla terra la sua vita?
34 The eunuch addressed Philip and said, 'Tel me, is the prophet referring to himself or someone else?'	34 L'eunuco prese a dire a Filippo: Ti prego, il profeta di chi dice questo? di sé o di qualche altro?
35 Starting, therefore, with this text of scripture Philip proceeded to explain the good news of Jesus to him.	35 E Filippo cominciò a parlare, e rifacendosi da quel passo delia Scrittura, gli evangelizzò Gesù.
36 Further along the road they came to some water, and the eunuch said, 'Look,is some water; is thereanything to prevent my being baptised?'	36 E seguitando la strada giunsero a una certa acqua e disse l'eunuco: Ecco dell'acqua: che mi impedisce di esser battezzato?
37	37 E Filippo a lui: Se credi di tutto cuore, è permesso. E l'eunuco rispose: Credo che Gesù Cristo è il Figlio di Dio.
38 He ordered the chariot to stop, then Philip and the eunuch both went down into the water and hebaptised him.	38 E fatto fermare il cocchio discesero tutti e due nell'acqua: Filippo e l'eunuco, e lo battezzò.
39 But after they had come up out of the water again Philip was taken away by the Spirit of the Lord, andthe eunuch never saw him again but went on his way rejoicing.	39 E usciti che furono dall'acqua, lo Spirito del Signore rapì Filippo: e l'eunuco non lo vide più. E seguitò allegramente il suo viaggio.
40 Philip appeared in Azotus and continued his journey, proclaiming the good news in every town as faras Caesarea.	40 Filippo invece si trovò in Azoto e di là evangelizzando tutte le città dove passava arrivò a Cesarea.
