NEW JERUSALEM	EINHEITSUBERSETZUNG BIBEL
1 When we had at last torn ourselves away from them and put to sea, we set a straight course andarrived at Cos; the next day we reached Rhodes, and from there went on to Patara.	1 Als die Zeit zur Abfahrt gekommen war, trennten wir uns von ihnen, fuhren auf dem kürzesten Weg nach Kos, am anderen Tag nach Rhodos und von dort nach Patara.
2 Here we found a ship bound for Phoenicia, so we went on board and sailed in her.	2 Hier fanden wir ein Schiff, das nach Phönizien fuhr; wir gingen an Bord und fuhren ab.
3 After sighting Cyprus and leaving it to port, we sailed to Syria and put in at Tyre, since the ship was tounload her cargo there.	3 Als wir Zypern sichteten, ließen wir es zur Linken liegen, segelten nach Syrien und landeten in Tyrus; hier sollte das Schiff seine Ladung löschen.
4 We sought out the disciples and stayed there a week. Speaking in the Spirit, they kept tel ing Paul notto go on to Jerusalem,	4 Nachdem wir die Jünger ausfindig gemacht hatten, blieben wir sieben Tage bei ihnen. Auf eine Eingebung des Geistes hin warnten sie Paulus davor, nach Jerusalem zu gehen.
5 but when our time was up we set off. Together with the women and children they all escorted us on ourway til we were out of the town. When we reached the beach, we knelt down and prayed;	5 Als die Tage um waren, brachen wir zur Weiterreise auf, und alle, auch Frauen und Kinder, begleiteten uns bis vor die Stadt. Am Strand knieten wir nieder, beteten
6 then, after saying good -- bye to each other, we went aboard and they returned home.	6 und nahmen Abschied voneinander. Dann gingen wir an Bord; jene aber kehrten nach Hause zurück.
7 The end of our voyage from Tyre came when we landed at Ptolemais, where we greeted the brothersand stayed one day with them.	7 So fuhren wir von Tyrus ab und beendeten unsere Seereise in Ptolemaïs. Wir begrüßten die Brüder und blieben einen Tag bei ihnen.
8 The next day we left and came to Caesarea. Here we cal ed on Philip the evangelist, one of the Seven,and stayed with him.	8 Am folgenden Tag kamen wir nach Cäsarea. Wir gingen in das Haus des Evangelisten Philippus, der einer von den Sieben war, und blieben bei ihm.
9 He had four unmarried daughters who were prophets.	9 Er hatte vier Töchter, prophetisch begabte Jungfrauen.
10 When we had been there several days a prophet called Agabus arrived from Judaea.	10 Wir blieben mehrere Tage. Da kam von Judäa ein Prophet namens Agabus herab
11 He came up to us, took Paul's belt and tied up his own feet and hands, and said, 'This is what theHoly Spirit says, "The man to whom this girdle belongs wil be tied up like this by the Jews in Jerusalem andhanded over to the gentiles." '	11 und besuchte uns. Er nahm den Gürtel des Paulus, band sich Füße und Hände und sagte: So spricht der Heilige Geist: Den Mann, dem dieser Gürtel gehört, werden die Juden in Jerusalem ebenso fesseln und den Heiden ausliefern.
12 When we heard this, we and al the local people urged Paul not to go on to Jerusalem.	12 Als wir das hörten, redeten wir ihm zusammen mit den Einheimischen zu, nicht nach Jerusalem hinaufzuziehen.
13 To this he replied, 'What are you doing, weeping and breaking my heart? For my part, I am ready notonly to be bound but even to die in Jerusalem for the name of the Lord Jesus.'	13 Doch Paulus antwortete: Warum weint ihr und macht mir das Herz schwer? Ich bin bereit, mich in Jerusalem für den Namen Jesu, des Herrn, fesseln zu lassen und sogar zu sterben.
14 And so, as he would not be persuaded, we gave up the attempt, saying, 'The Lord's wil be done.'	14 Da er sich nicht überreden ließ, gaben wir nach und sagten: Der Wille des Herrn geschehe.
15 After this we made our preparations and went on up to Jerusalem.	15 Nach diesen Tagen bereiteten wir uns zur Reise vor und zogen hinauf nach Jerusalem.
16 Some of the disciples from Caesarea accompanied us and took us to the house of a Cypriot withwhom we were to lodge; he was cal ed Mnason and had been one of the earliest disciples.	16 Auch einige Jünger aus Cäsarea begleiteten uns und brachten uns zu einem gewissen Mnason aus Zypern, bei dem wir wohnen sollten; er war ein Jünger aus der Anfangszeit.
17 On our arrival in Jerusalem the brothers gave us a very warm welcome.	17 Als wir nach Jerusalem kamen, wurden wir von den Brüdern freudig empfangen.
18 The next day Paul went with us to visit James, and all the elders were present.	18 Am folgenden Tag ging Paulus mit uns zu Jakobus; auch alle Ältesten fanden sich ein.
19 After greeting them he gave a detailed account of al that God had done among the gentiles throughhis ministry.	19 Er begrüßte sie und berichtete im einzelnen alles, was Gott durch seinen Dienst unter den Heiden getan hatte.
20 They gave glory to God when they heard this. Then they said, 'You see, brother, how thousands ofJews have now become believers, al of them staunch upholders of the Law;	20 Als sie das hörten, priesen sie Gott und sagten zu ihm: Du siehst, Bruder, wie viele Tausende unter den Juden gläubig geworden sind, und sie alle sind Eiferer für das Gesetz.
21 and what they have heard about you is that you instruct al Jews living among the gentiles to breakaway from Moses, authorising them not to circumcise their children or to fol ow the customary practices.	21 Nun hat man ihnen von dir erzählt: Du lehrst alle unter den Heiden lebenden Juden, von Mose abzufallen, und forderst sie auf, ihre Kinder nicht zu beschneiden und sich nicht an die Bräuche zu halten.
22 What is to be done? A crowd is sure to gather, for they wil hear that you have come.	22 Was nun? Sicher werden sie hören, dass du gekommen bist.
23 So this is what we suggest that you should do; we have four men here who are under a vow;	23 Tu also, was wir dir sagen: Bei uns sind vier Männer, die ein Gelübde auf sich genommen haben.
24 take these men along and be purified with them and pay al the expenses connected with the shavingof their heads. This wil let everyone know there is no truth in the reports they have heard about you, and thatyou too observe the Law by your way of life.	24 Nimm sie mit und weihe dich zusammen mit ihnen; trag die Kosten für sie, damit sie sich das Haar abscheren lassen können. So wird jeder einsehen, dass an dem, was man von dir erzählt hat, nichts ist, sondern dass auch du das Gesetz genau beachtest.
25 About the gentiles who have become believers, we have written giving them our decision that theymust abstain from things sacrificed to idols, from blood, from the meat of strangled animals and from il icitmarriages.'	25 Über die gläubig gewordenen Heiden aber haben wir ja einen Beschluss gefasst und ihnen geschrieben, sie sollten sich vor Götzenopferfleisch, Blut, Ersticktem und Unzucht hüten.
26 So the next day Paul took the men along and was purified with them, and he visited the Temple togive notice of the time when the period of purification would be over and the offering would have to be presentedon behalf of each of them.	26 Da nahm Paulus die Männer mit und weihte sich am nächsten Tag zusammen mit ihnen, ging dann in den Tempel und meldete das Ende der Weihetage an, damit für jeden von ihnen das Opfer dargebracht werde.
27 The seven days were nearly over when some Jews from Asia caught sight of him in the Temple andstirred up the crowd and seized him,	27 Als die sieben Tage zu Ende gingen, sahen ihn die Juden aus der Provinz Asien im Tempel. Sie brachten das ganze Volk in Aufruhr, ergriffen ihn
28 shouting, 'Men of Israel, help! This is the man who preaches to everyone everywhere against ourpeople, against the Law and against this place. He has even profaned this Holy Place by bringing Greeks intothe Temple.'	28 und schrien: Israeliten! Kommt zu Hilfe! Das ist der Mensch, der in aller Welt Lehren verbreitet, die sich gegen das Volk und das Gesetz und gegen diesen Ort richten; er hat sogar Griechen in den Tempel mitgenommen und diesen heiligen Ort entweiht.
29 They had, in fact, previously seen Trophimus the Ephesian in the city with him and thought that Paulhad brought him into the Temple.	29 Sie hatten nämlich kurz zuvor den Epheser Trophimus mit ihm zusammen in der Stadt gesehen und meinten, Paulus habe ihn in den Tempel mitgenommen.
30 This roused the whole city; people came running from al sides; they seized Paul and dragged him outof the Temple, and the gates were closed behind them.	30 Da geriet die ganze Stadt in Aufregung und das Volk lief zusammen. Sie ergriffen Paulus und zerrten ihn aus dem Tempel und sofort wurden die Tore geschlossen.
31 While they were setting about killing him, word reached the tribune of the cohort that there was tumultal over Jerusalem.	31 Schon wollten sie ihn umbringen, da brachte man dem Obersten der Kohorte die Meldung hinauf: Ganz Jerusalem ist in Aufruhr!
32 He immediately called out soldiers and centurions and charged down on the crowd, who stoppedbeating Paul when they saw the tribune and the soldiers.	32 Er eilte sofort mit Soldaten und Hauptleuten zu ihnen hinunter. Als sie den Obersten und die Soldaten sahen, hörten sie auf, Paulus zu schlagen.
33 When the tribune came up he took Paul into custody, had him bound with two chains and enquiredwho he was and what he had done.	33 Der Oberst trat hinzu, verhaftete ihn, ließ ihn mit zwei Ketten fesseln und fragte, wer er sei und was er getan habe.
34 People in the crowd called out different things, and since the noise made it impossible for him to getany positive information, the tribune ordered Paul to be taken into the fortress.	34 In der Menge schrien die einen dies, die andern das. Da er bei dem Lärm nichts Sicheres ermitteln konnte, befahl er, ihn in die Kaserne zu führen.
35 When Paul reached the steps, the crowd became so violent that he had to be carried by the soldiers;	35 Als Paulus an die Freitreppe kam, mussten ihn die Soldaten wegen des Andrangs der Menge tragen.
36 and indeed the whole mob was after them, shouting, 'Do away with him!'	36 Denn das Volk lief hinterher und schrie: Weg mit ihm!
37 Just as Paul was being taken into the fortress, he asked the tribune if he could have a word with him.The tribune said, 'You speak Greek, then?	37 Als man Paulus in die Kaserne bringen wollte, sagte er zum Obersten: Darf ich ein Wort mit dir reden? Der antwortete: Du verstehst Griechisch?
38 Aren't you the Egyptian who started the recent revolt and led those four thousand cut-throats out intothe desert?'	38 Dann bist du also nicht der Ägypter, der vor einiger Zeit die viertausend Sikarier aufgewiegelt und in die Wüste hinausgeführt hat?
39 'I?' said Paul, 'I am a Jew and a citizen of the wel -known city of Tarsus in Cilicia. Please give mepermission to speak to the people.'	39 Paulus antwortete: Ich bin ein Jude aus Tarsus in Zilizien, Bürger einer nicht unbedeutenden Stadt. Ich bitte dich, gestatte mir, zum Volk zu sprechen.
40 The man gave his consent and Paul, standing at the top of the steps, raised his hand to the people forsilence. A profound silence fol owed, and he started speaking to them in Hebrew.	40 Als der Oberst es erlaubte, stellte sich Paulus auf die Freitreppe und gab dem Volk mit der Hand ein Zeichen.
